  1. From the book “HUMILITY” by Andrew Murray - Chapter 9 - HUMILITY AND FAITH (Words in italics have been added to the original text) Our inability to trust God is due to our lack of Christ’s humble nature of God dependence John 5: 44. Jesus “How can you believe, who receive honor from one another, and do not seek the honor that comes from Him who alone is God?” NKJV/AMP Murray: “In an address I recently heard, the speaker said that the blessings of the higher Christian life were often like the objects displayed in a shop window - one could see them clearly and yet could not reach them. If told to stretch out his hand and take, a man would answer, I cannot; there is a thick pane of plate-glass between me and them. And even so Christians may see clearly the blessed promises of perfect peace and rest, of overflowing love and joy, of abiding communion and fruitfulness, and yet feel that there is something between hindering the true possession. And what might that be? Nothing but pride. “The promises made to faith are so free and sure; the invitations and encouragements so strong; the mighty power of God on which it may count is so near and free - that it can only be something that hinders faith that hinders the blessing being ours. In our text Jesus discovers to us that it is indeed pride that makes faith impossible. "How can you believe, who receive honor from one another?" As we see how in their very nature pride and faith are irreconcilably at variance, we shall learn that faith and humility are at root one, and that we never can have more of true faith than we have of true humility. We shall see that we may indeed have strong intellectual conviction and assurance of the truth while pride is still kept in the heart, but that it makes the living faith, which has power with God, an impossibility. “We need only think for a moment what faith is. Is it not the confession of nothingness and helplessness, the surrender and the waiting to let God work? Is it not in itself the most humbling thing there can be, the acceptance of our place as dependents (on God), who can claim or get or do nothing but what grace bestows? Humility is simply the disposition which prepares the soul for living on trust. And every, even the most secret breathing of pride, in self-seeking, self-will, self-confidence, or self-exaltation, is just the strengthening of that self which cannot enter the kingdom, or possess the things of the kingdom, because it refuses to allow God to be what He is and must be there -- the All in All. “Faith is the organ or sense for the perception and apprehension of the heavenly world and its blessings. Faith seeks the glory that comes from God, that only comes where God is All. As long as we take glory from one another, as long as ever we seek and love and jealously guard the glory of this life, the honor and reputation that comes from men, we do not seek, and cannot receive the glory that comes from God. Pride renders faith impossible. Salvation comes through a cross and a crucified Christ. Salvation is the fellowship with the crucified Christ in the Spirit of His cross. Salvation is union with and delight in, salvation is participation in, the humility of Jesus. Is it any wonder that our faith is so feeble when pride still reigns so much, and we have scarce learnt even to long or pray for humility as the most needful and blessed part of salvation? “Humility and faith are more closely allied in Scripture than many know. See it in the life of Christ. There are two cases in which He spoke of a great faith. Had not the centurion, at whose faith He marveled, saying, "I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel!" spoken, "I am not worthy that You should come under my roof"? And had not the mother to whom He spoke, "O woman, great is your faith!" accepted the name of dog, and said, "Yes, Lord, yet the dogs eat of the crumbs'? It is the humility that brings a soul to be nothing before God, that also removes every hindrance to faith, and makes it only fear lest it should dishonor Him by not trusting Him wholly. “Brother, have we not here the cause of failure in the pursuit of holiness? Is it not this, though we knew it not, that made our consecration and our faith so superficial and so short-lived? We had no idea to what an extent pride and self were still secretly working within us, and how alone God by His incoming and His mighty power could cast them out. We understood not how nothing but the new and divine nature, taking entirely the place of the old self, could make us really humble. Most people think of pride in the very narrow sense of self-promotion and self-boasting. But when God in the Bible speaks of “The pride of life”, He means the universal trait of human nature to trust in and depend on itself and not on Him. This unchanging refusal of human nature to give up its right to itself, and, always to crave the praise and approval of others, Jesus says, nullifies a person’s ability to believe God. That’s why this pride in its broader sense, Billy Graham says, keeps more people out of Heaven than anything else. Murray highlights from the scriptures that God’s solution to this seemingly unsolvable problem is to replace human nature with a new non-prideful, God dependant nature - the actual nature of Christ. This is done by the ongoing engrafting of God’s living words (which impart the nature of Christ), by the Holy Spirit, into the re-born human spirit of anyone who is yielded and willing to be changed. By this continuing process self-dependant (proud) human nature is replaced with a God dependant (humble) Christ nature. Matt 11:29 Jesus: Take My yoke upon you (receive My Spirit to teach you God’s words) and learn of Me (receive God’s words which impart My nature, that is:) for I am meek (able to hear in the spirit God speaking His words to Me) and lowly in heart (humble and able to believe and to do God’s words)... 2 Peter 1:4 Whereby are given to us exceedingly great and precious promises (that is, God’s words), that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature… the meek and humble nature of Christ. 2 Thes 2:13 ...Salvation (is) through sanctification (being made Holy) by the Spirit and (by) belief in the truth (of God’s words - only the humble can so believe) “We knew not that absolute, unceasing, universal humility must be the root disposition of every prayer and every approach to God as well as of every dealing with man; and that we might as well attempt to see without eyes, or live without breath, as believe or draw nigh to God or dwell in His love, without an all-pervading humility and lowliness of heart. 1 Peter 5:5 …Be clothed with humility, for "God resists the proud, But gives grace (more and more of His own nature) to the humble." “Brother, have we not been making a mistake in taking so much trouble to believe, while all the time there was the old self in its pride seeking to possess itself of God's blessing and riches? No wonder we could not believe. Let us change our course. Let us seek first of all to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God: He will exalt us. The cross, and the death, and the grave, into which Jesus humbled Himself, were His path to the glory of God. And they are our path too. Let our one desire and our fervent prayer be, to be humbled with Him and like Him; let us accept gladly whatever can humble us before God or men - this alone is the path to the glory of God. When the two natures (the pride of the flesh and the humility of the spirit) are allowed to coexist, they will compete for dominance of a person’s will (their soul).Often flesh wins and it will cause a Christian’s once strong faith to fail or even to die. This is why there must be an engrafting into a Christian’s heart of the truth of Christ’s death on the cross to the prideful human nature of man. When God’s words (the truth) on the crucifixion of Christ to the flash are engrafted into a person’s spirit or heart, that person becomes an actual participant in Christ’s death, meaning they are now dead to their own flesh. This is the death blow to the flesh with its prideful self-dependence. Faith, the ability to trust God in every area of life and to trust Him for others, can now grow and flourish like never before. Phil 2:8 …He (Jesus) humbled Himself and became obedient unto death… 2 Tim 2:11 This is a faithful saying: For if we died with Him (Jesus Christ), We shall also live with Him (both in this present life and in the life hereafter). “You perhaps feel inclined to ask a question. Here I speak of some who have had blessed experiences, or are the means of bringing blessing to others, and yet are lacking in humility. You ask whether these do not prove that they have true, even strong faith, though they show too clearly that they still seek too much the honor that comes from men. There is more than one answer that can be given. But the principal answer in our present context is this: They indeed have a measure of faith, in proportion to which, with the special gifts bestowed upon them, is the blessing they bring to others. But in that very blessing the work of their faith is hindered, through the lack of humility. The blessing is often superficial or transitory, just because they are not the nothing that opens the way for God to be all. A deeper humility would without doubt bring a deeper and fuller blessing. The Holy Spirit not only working in them as a Spirit of power, but dwelling in them in the fullness of His grace, and specially that of humility, would through them communicate Himself to these converts for a life of power and holiness and steadfastness now all too little seen. Philem 6 That the communication of your faith may become effectual by the KJV acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus. "How can you believe, who receive honor from one another?" Brother, nothing can cure you of the desire of receiving glory from men, or of the sensitiveness and pain and anger which come when it is not given, but giving yourself to seek only the glory that comes from God. Let the glory of the All-glorious God be everything to you. You will be freed from the glory of men and of self, and be content and glad to be nothing. Out of this you will grow strong in faith, giving glory to God, and you will find that the deeper you sink in humble nothingness before Him, the nearer He is to fulfill the every desire of your Faith”. Luke 14:11 For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted." And be able to trust God with ever increasing faith.
  2. Hi. I've been seeking the Lord for my Salvation and I come across the responsibility of man as mentioned in the Bible. So, I wanted to ask about the Responsibility of man and the Grace of God, Sovereignty of God. The Bible in different places commands us to do something, or rather, to change. For example, In 1 Peter 5:6, "Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time." James 4:10 "Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up" Matthew 23:12 "And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted." Ezekiel 18:31 "Cast away from you all the transgressions that you have committed, and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! Why will you die, O house of Israel?" 2 Chronicles 7:14 "if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land." And GOD, throughout the old testament, keeps telling Israel and even other nations also at times like- Nineveh (Jonah), through Prophets, etc to Repent and turn to HIM. And in the New Testament, we are told to Repent and Believe. These verses seem to put it up, like humbling oneself or having a new heart and a new spirit, to Repent, as human responsibility to do what's been asked of us to do. And so it implies also that we naturally have the ability to do what's been asked of us to do and that it's possible for us to do it without God's help, just by our will? Because if we can't', then why would He ask that of us? But the Bible also puts things the other way, which seems opposite, that we can do these things only by God's Intervention/ Grace, power: Acts 16:14 ".....The Lord opened her heart to pay attention to what was said by Paul" Luke 24:45 "Then He[Jesus] opened their minds to understand the Scriptures" Acts 18:26-40, The case of the Ethiopian Eunuch Ezekiel 11:19 (cf. Ezekiel 36:26, Hebrews 8:10, Jeremiah 32:33) "And I will give them one heart, and a new spirit I will put within them. I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh and give them a heart of flesh" In Daniel 4, God humbles Nebuchadnezzar, after which he praises God, for doing so and humbling him. So, what should we do when we come across such commands in the Bible? Should we wait for God to do something that we can't or we don't have the ability (will) to unless God intervenes in some way, or, should we do what we are commanded to (to Repent, be Humble, change our hearts and minds) assuming that have the ability(the will)? It is said that we have the ability and faculties for dong what we are commanded to do, that if we 'will', we can do it, but that the problem is that we can't Truly 'will' without the work, influence of God in our heart. Spurgeon says about this : "The question is, are men ever found naturally willing to submit to the humbling terms of the gospel of Christ? We declare, upon Scriptural authority, that the human will is so desperately set on mischief, so depraved, and so inclined to everything that is evil, and so disinclined to everything that is good, that without the powerful. supernatural, irresistible influence of the Holy Spirit, no human will ever be constrained towards Christ". If this is True, then, How should we then carry out our Responsibility ?
  3. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. - James 4:10 Humility is the way to heaven. Christ was humble, the prophets of God were men of humility. The Apostles Jesus choose ended up being men of great humility. Saints in church history are considered those who reached a place of humility. Pride is everything that opposes Gods will and way. The demons are proud and love to come near those who are of a proud boastful spirit. Humility of heart drives satan from us. Humility is not just a sense of being but hundreds of daily choices we make. We can humble ourselves in a manifold amount of ways each day in our thought-life, actions we make, in relationships we are in. The Spirit of God is working with us daily to allow us to choose the right humble choices. Archimandrite Joel Giannakopoulos said rightly: "Humility is, not only to humble your own self, but also to forbear the humiliations which others impose on you." St. Chrysostom said: "For he that is humbled, and bruised in heart, will not be vainglorious, will not be wrathful, will not envy his neighbor, will not harbor any other passion." The Scriptures say to humble "yourselves." And to realize that when we do this we are doing it "before" the Lord not only men. God see's our hearts condition and honours humility. He longs and desires to "lift us up" and grant us His blessings safely as we maintain humility of heart. There are many steps to take towards humility, here is one practical step. Consider to pray out loud this "Litany of Humility" even daily if it becomes a help to you: O Jesus, meek and humble of heart, hear me From the desire of being esteemed, deliver me, Jesus From the desire of being loved, deliver me, Jesus. From the desire of being extolled, deliver me, Jesus. From the desire of being honoured, deliver me, Jesus. From the desire of being praised, deliver me, Jesus. From the desire of being preferred to others, deliver me, Jesus. From the desire of consulted, deliver me, Jesus. From the desire of being approved, deliver me, Jesus. From the fear of being humiliated, deliver me, Jesus. From the fear of being despised, deliver me, Jesus. From the fear of suffering rebukes, deliver me, Jesus. From the fear of being calumniated, deliver me, Jesus. From the fear of being forgotten, deliver me, Jesus. From the fear of being ridiculed, deliver me, Jesus. From the fear of being wronged, deliver me, Jesus. From the fear of being suspected, deliver me, Jesus. That others may be loved more than I, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it. That others may be esteemed more than I, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it. That in the opinion of the world, others may increase and I may decrease, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it. That others may be chosen and I set aside, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it. That others may be praised and I unnoticed, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it. That others may be preferred to me in everything, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it. That others may become holier than I, provided that I become as holy as I should, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
  4. Genesis 48:18-19 says, Joseph said to him, "No, my father, this one is the firstborn; put your right hand on his head," but his father refused and said, “I know, my son, I know. He too will become a people, and he too will become great. Nevertheless, his younger brother will be greater than he, and his descendants will become a group of nations.” I find it interesting that Jacob/Israel blessed Joseph's 2nd born (Ephraim,) over his 1st born (Mannasseh.) It kind of repeated what had happened with Jacob himself, only he stole the blessing from his older brother, Essau , by deceiving his father, Isaac. There's obviously a reason that God put this in here and allowed this to happen that way. In tradition, the 1st born always received the blessing, inheritance, and a place of respect which made them privileged. Deuteronomy 21:17 says, But he shall acknowledge the firstborn, the son of the unloved, by giving him a double portion of all that he has, for he is the beginning of strength; to him belongs the right of the firstborn. I wonder if God saw that as an area of pride, and decided to humble mankind, even His people. It was definitely God that allowed the order to be reversed because He's in control of all things, and nothing happens without Him allowing it. Any thoughts on this?
  5. Isaiah 66:2 - "To this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word." THE HEBREW WORD FOR LOOK IS "NABAT" WHICH MEANS TO REGARD, PAY ATTENTION TO, OR TO ESTEEM. THE ONE WHO GETS GOD'S FAVORABLE ATTENTION IS POOR OR HUMBLE. HUMILITY IS NOT BEING WEAK, WIMPY OR SPINELESS. IN FACT OFTEN THE TRULY HUMBLE ARE MISTAKEN FOR ACTING ARROGANT. DAVID WAS ACCUSED OF BEING ARROGANT AND FULL OF PRIDE BY HIS OLDER BROTHER, ELIAB, WHO HAD BEEN REJECTED BY GOD FOR THE VERY THING HE ACCUSED DAVID OF (1 SAMUEL 17:26,28). BUT GOD CALLED DAVID A MAN AFTER HIS OWN HEART. A HUMBLE PERSON IS UTTERLY DEPENDANT ON GOD. THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING WITHOUT HIM. THUS, THEY SEEK HIS DESIRE AND WILL IN EVERYTHING. CONTRITENESS IS LIKENED TO BROKENNESS. TO BE BROKEN HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WEAKNESS, BUT WITH SUBMISSION TO AUTHORITY. Psalm 51:16,17 - "For you do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart - These, O God, You will not despise." Romans 8:33 -- "Who shall bring a charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies." Mark 15:3 -- "And the chief priest accused Him of many things, but He answered nothing." Why didn't Jesus defend Himself? The reason: to remain under His Father's judgment and thus His protection. When we refuse to defend ourselves we are hidden under the hand of God's grace and judgment. There is no safer place. In contrast, those who defend themselves come under the jurisdiction of their accusers and their judgment, and thus they forfeit divine intervention. The moment I justify and defend myself I yield to my accuser as judge. I forfeit my spiritual right of protection, for He (my accuser) rises above me in the realm of the spirit as I answer His criticism. His influence is elevated by my self-defense. By attempting to prove my innocence, I am at the mercy of my accuser. 1 Peter 2:23 -- "He (Jesus) did not retaliate when He was insulted. When He suffered, He did not threaten to get even. He left His case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly." We start out in simple faith, trusting Him regardless of the circumstances. Then God makes a way when there is no way. We possess our promised land (seeJoshua 6:1-5) with step by step obedience. When you come up against your spiritual Jerichos, you've got to have the Word of God in your heart. Without it, marching around Jericho won't so any good. But with the Word in your heart in your mouth, you can march around impossible barriers declaring God's Word. Those walls have to come down. VICTORY DECLARATIONS: In all things, I am more than a conqueror through Jesus Christ who loves me. - Romans 8:37 God always promises me the victory in every circumstance. - 1 Corinthians 15:57 Thanks be to God who always causes me to triumph in Christ. - 2 Corinthians 2:14 I take possession of what belongs to me in Christ. ALBERT FINCH MINISTRY
  6. When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. - Proverbs 11:2 Pride and the Devil When we speak of pride we also often times think of the devil. He was the beautiful angel who through transgression and pride fell from his place with God to a fallen state. Lucifer, an anointed cherub of God became the devil, the father of lies (John 8:44). He was soiled and became filthy and the enemy wants to defile all those who are unsoiled also. When we are free from pride the enemy of our souls desires to sow prideful thoughts into our life. Pride is a preoccupation with self, it is to say that I am more important then all others. Pride says "I" am always right. Pride is when at all costs we need to revenge ourselves of our abusers. Pride says that we are more important then others and when sinned against our rights are more important. Personal glory and importance leads to a proud heart and opposition to God (1 Peter 5:5). Pride and Selflessness Pride is in some ways the opposite of selflessness. When we are humble we seek the good of others even when we have been hurt by someone. Disgrace and shame comes with pride because God diminishes the proud one under his own displeasure. Just like Nebuchadnezzar and Belshazzar, we can be blinded by Pride and a sense of self-importance thinking we are able to control situations and even people. This is a profound thought that God himself shows everyone grace, mercy, and gives constant help. And when we see others in the body of Christ fail, or cause abuse, if we become proud, judge them overly and do not do it all in love, we can have God's grace lifted from our lives. And the sad result can be the brother who fails, when we judge him we can become worse then that brother. When we have pride against others in the body of Christ we have insulted the Creator Himself. We should never look down on others, never think we are better especially when we see another of our brothers and sisters fail. The Publican and Pharisee In Luke 18:9-14, we see the famous story of the Publican and Pharisee. It is a great contrast between pride and humility, self-assuredness and humility. The first error of the religious leader Jesus pointed out was of being "confident." It was a self-reliant attitude that I am in a better place with God then most and therefore can speak down to others and also not need God's grace as much. It is a subtle deception on the road towards knowing God we can start to trust on our past experiences of grace and not rely on the grace of God daily. And what happened? The religious leader, "looked down on everyone else" (Luke 18:9). He did not take the humble role of a being below others as a servant but rather assumed priority over others. In such a contrast we see the Publican come to our Lord and simply say in humility, "God, have mercy on me, a sinner." (Luke 18:13). This one humbled himself before God, no matter how holy or progressed in our Christian lives when we humble ourselves we keep our position of walking with God in His presence. But once we exalt ourselves then we are cast away. In a famous drawing of this scene, we see the Publican bowing and humble, and the Pharise exalted and with one hand judging the other and the other praising God. Then in the picture we notice the hand of God blessing with grace and mercy the Publican only. Let this be a reminder that when we judge others we cannot praise God with the same breath and miss God's blessing in the process. Serving Others In the Body When we have pride in our own accomplishments and skills we are taking the credit for these things to ourselves. The reality is all giftings given to brethren in the body of Christ is to serve and help others, not ourselves. To follow the way of pride is to follow the way of the devil. The follow the way of humility is to follow in the way of the Lord.
  7. As we begin to see NEW growth spring forth in what was previously considered "hard places", doors connected to the ways of man begin to be shut and new doors that are connected and hinged upon the ways of God begin to open. "The humble He guides in justice, and the humble He teaches His way." - Psalm 25:9 HUMILITY IS A KEY Prophetically walking through "NEW doors" often requires us to lay aside and unload some things that we have carried in times past – right, wrong or indifferent. Holding onto these often good things of our past will actually limit our ability to step into the NEW things God has prepared for you in this season. In regards to this transition, it is helpful to recognize and fully appreciate that not only has God prepared new pathways and permissions for us in this season, but He has also been preparing us for these NEW pathways and the necessary permissions to proceed in these NEW directions. These NEW pathways are a place of promotion that God has prepared. Holding onto various things connected with our past season, in our own understanding, not only becomes burdensome but they can also potentially grant an illegal access to the enemies of our past, as we are unable to enter into the promise of our future. These burdens oftentimes begin as good things for us in one season but in the next season are met with anxiety, pride, and worry as we look to hold onto these cares in our own strength. At times it is the holding onto the good things of what's been that keeps us from being able to receive the NEW that God wants to bring us into. It is often in our letting go that we are then able to lay hold. We see this truth in 1 Peter 5:6 - "Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you." As the "Winds of Change" begin to blow the question is: Will He find faith on the earth to believe and rejoice in the hope of what He has promised to do in your life? The strength to "build again" is coming in the joy of the Lord through an impartation of understanding that is being granted to those who make the choice to rejoice and "believe again" (see Nehemiah 8:8-10). "...yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith..." - 1 Peter 1:8b-9a For many, in the areas that you have faced previous winds of adversity and opposition, there is a significant change and shift coming – and for some it has already come. With this change, you will find that in the area of your past opposition God was actually allowing you to become rooted and grounded in love in a new way that has positioned you to flourish as a tree planted by His river in this new season (see Ephesians 3:14-20 and Psalm 1:1-3). DREAMING WITH GOD Part of being a prophetic people often means that, in most cases, we are seeing, hearing, and therefore living ahead of our time. For some this can create frustration; for others it unlocks within them a door of divine DESTINY that causes them to begin to dream in their current season of preparation in a way where they prophetically begin to REACH FORWARD IN FAITH to those things which are ahead, as they press in and press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God on their lives, found in the revelation of Jesus Christ (see Philippians 3:13-14). Dreaming with God in this way releases a fresh resolve and conviction of faith to flourish in the hearts of God's children, where they begin to believe for, resurrect, and re-present previous petitions connected with past promises before the courts of Heaven. Personal prayer takes on a new posture – a posture of praise that unlocks the fulfillment of the very thing that you have been praying into and for. ALBERT FINCH MINISTRY
  8. James 4:6 - "But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble." Humility is not unworthiness. Humility is being aware of who others are in God's sight and being aware of who I am in Christ and acting on it. Matthew 12:37 - "For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned." Affirmation: I LET MY WORDS CREATE THE CURRENT THAT SWEEPS ME INTO THE HEART OF GOD. Luke 9:23 - "And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” When Jesus called His disciples, it was for total commitment. They had to be willing to leave everything to follow Him, and so do we. If He is not the Lord of all, then He is not our Lord at all. All Christians are called to be "soldiers of the Cross". All soldiers know that they can be called upon to pay the ultimate price for their cause. For this reason, the soldiers of the Cross are called to take up their crosses and commit to die daily to their own interests in order to serve the interests of Christ. ALBERT FINCH MINISTRY
  9. "Anyone who praises himself will be humbled, and anyone who humbles himself will be praised." That's my favorite line from "The Bible" series. It's also hands down one of my favorite sayings attributed to the Savior Yeshua aka "Jesus" the Christ. The Bible says more than once "God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble." Well everyone who believes in God wants his favor right? So what is humility really? What is the typical Christian's idea of humility? Google says humility is "a modest or low view of one's own importance; humbleness" I totally agree with this definition. How would someone like this think? How would they act? What does humility look like? Christian humility is happily obeying the Savior Yeshua. (impressive) Christian humility is praying for everyone to repent all the time no matter what (very impressive) Christian humility is always praying for God's will no matter what (very impressive) Christian humility is NOT sighing and complaining about life and death.
  10. Please pray for me. With me. For my head is hung in shame as I ask for help. 3 months of bad luck has turned my world upside down. I am just a few short steps away from being homeless and in debt with 2 kids. I need a loan. i have started campaigns for it but I'd much rather borrow and pay back than be given a handout. But I am in desperation and at this Moment, there is little I won't do to keep food in my children's stomachs and a roof over their heads. I have no credit. I've always bought everything up front. No payday loans. No short term loans with 800% interest. Just a loan to be paid off over say a year or so. Or a personal lender to set their own deadlines. I'm desperate at the moment. I've never had to borrow from anybody before. So this is a horrible feeling for me and I'm humiliated by it. More details that won't fit in this. im in need of prayers. I'm in need of advice. And I am desperate for help. I know that I must hold onto faith, but I feel it slipping away. Once prideful, my humility has my head hung in shame as I beg for help and pray I have the strength to hold on to my faith.
  11. I tried to find a topic like this, but my internet skills are um...nonexistent. Hopefully I posted this in the right forum. Anyway, how to you biblically be humble? Hopefully this is clear enough. I feel as if I should add some more detail, but I can't think of anything.
