  1. According to the Bible, What is Blaspheme of the Holy Spirit? How is it Committed? Is any other sin or condition( like being turned over to a reprobate mind ) unforgivable? IS it Blaspheme of the Holy Spirit to attribute to Satan what is the work of the Holy Spirit? ( like speaking in tongues according to scripture for example)
  2. Bible teaches not to be unfaithful to the Lord (submitting to idols), even if doing it implies us to be cast to a lion cage or furnace. But does being unfaithful to the Lord extend to other kinds of sin? Suppose I am told by a gangster: Go steal with me or I will kill you. In this case, should stealing be equated with being unfaithful to the Lord? or is it a lesser commandment which may be violated due a necessity?
  3. The bible says we as Christians are not to partake in the sins of another. Homosexuality is a sin. So why is baking a cake for them sin or against Christian beliefs? What I am having trouble with is this. Jesus was called a drunk and a glutton and a friend of sinners because that's who he was around most of the time. One of his first miracles in the book of John is turning water in to wine at a wedding after everyone had gotten drunk. If Jesus can create wine and be at a wedding where people are going to drink the wine he just made ( after they have already been drinking a good while ) to get drunk. If Jesus can be around " sinners " all the time to the point that people call Jesus a drunk and a glutton , Then why is it wrong to bake a cake for a gay wedding? Firestormx
  4. 1)Could men from old testament enter heaven before Christ atonement on the Cross? 2) what and where is Abraham bosom? 3)where is paradise ? 4)when does the Saved received their reward?
  5. I was in the chat room and a discussion came up, for clarity and to avoid any form of argument i was advised to bring it here... Are we sinners? Should a Christian still call himself a sinner? Are we righteous? My Opinion: Yes, we're not perfect, and yes we have no righteousness of our own... but if after the death of our lord, and after we accept him as Lord and Savior we still remain sinners... what then is the point of His death? My illustration is this, we all go to the bank, and perform normal customer transactions... but none of us will claim to be a banker except we actually work in a bank... to me, the same applies to this issue... We might one time or another fall into iniquity, when we do... we recognize our fault and repent... and turn to our father for forgiveness. My tentative conclusion is this (tentative because i am very open to corrections)... As believers, we WERE sinners, but now, we ARE not sinners... I will really like to get your view on this, thank you.
  6. 1 John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the Law: for sin is the transgression of the Law. I've been studying on this and wanted to share the thoughts I've been having on this subject and also to ask some questions. The above verse is clear. Sin is not doing what i think is wrong, or what a certain church may think is wrong, or even what the world says is wrong. Sin is the transgression of the Law. Now I started focusing on the last word of that verse....Law. Now, believe it or not, it actually took me a while to realize it did not say sin is the transgression of the Law of Moses . Which got me thinking and wondering about some things? 1. We are not under law but grace. So how is there still sin? 2. I didn't think there was law in the garden of Eden, so how did Adam and Eve sin? Could the answer to my questions be as simple as Law = all commandments of God or The entirety of the Word of God In context with this verse? To give an example of what I mean, John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. Jesus said the above verse and that it was a new commandment. To transgress this is to sin. But why and how is it a sin? The only thing I can see is all commandments of God or all of the Word of God is law as regards to 1 John 3:4. So what does everyone else think? Do I finally got a handle on this subject or have I strayed into error? Please use scripture in your answer so that I might further investigate this in the bible, Thank you. P.S. What got me into this subject was a perception on my part that everyone seemed to have their own definition of what sin is, and I was curious what the bible actually says. Firestormx
  7. In the Gospel of Matthew,Jesus says: "Anyone who is not with Me is against Me, and anyone who does not gather with Me scatters. 31 Because of this, I tell you, people will be forgiven every sin and blasphemy, but the blasphemy against9 the Spirit will not be forgiven.10 32 Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him. But whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the one to come." what is meant by "in this age or in the one to come" ? Does this mean that people who actively reject Christianity and even encourage others to do so,lose the possibility of being saved forever? Does "The age to come" mean our present age?
  8. Is it just me or is their a lot of confusion over what sin actually is? Sin is not breaking my or your moral code. Sin is not breaking the traditions of men. The bible is very specific about what sin is. 1 John 3:4 Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. Why is there so much confusion over what is sin? Is it because so many say we are not obligated to obey any of the law ? Is it a lack of understanding about the Crucifixion and it's affect on us and the NT/ OT? It just seems that every time I turn on the TV, read a post from a thread or a blog, somebody is coming up with a new meaning of what sin is. I heard or read some where recently that if the NT didn't say it was a sin, then it wasn't a sin. (There is a lot that is sin that the NT don't cover, like Rape for instance). Where did the thought come from that if something offends somebody then it's sin for everyone? Or That everyone can decide for themselves what sin is ( most would call this personal revelation). Just curious if it is just me or if anyone else sees it. It's almost like we the church need to go back to basics and start with the simple things again, like What is sin? What is sin? Sin is the transgression of the law Why is the above so hard to understand? Comments and elaborations welcome. Firestormx Joseph
  9. I know, another one of these posts. But there's a twist. I want to know if you have ever spoke aloud against the Holy Spirit, and have since experienced something particular where you knew God forgave you. I do not want to know if you ever had an accidental thought, but if you actually spoke something aloud against the Spirit -- be it through cursing the Spirit, blaming the Spirit for something, etc. And specifically the Holy Spirit. Please only reply if you have an experience like this. I do not wish to discuss what you think the unpardonable sin is, I just want to know about experiences, if there are any. Please PM me if you don't want to post. Thanks.
  10. I've been in multiple debates recently about God and homosexuality, I want to get more people thinking about it and want to know about other people's thoughts. Is the psychology of it (having the attraction towards the same sex) a sin in itself? Is just the acting upon the attraction the sin? Or is none of it a sin at all? Another point, is that some non-Christians accuse Christians of not liking homosexuals and thinking of them as bad people. This really annoys me, how people can so easily generalise us. I myself do not understand or agree with homosexuality...but that doesn't mean I think homosexuals are bad people! We are ALL bad in the eyes of God. What say you on these matters? =)
  11. An Atheist’s View On Life I will live my life according to these beliefs God does not exist It is just foolish to think That there is a God with a cosmic plan That an all-powerful God brings purpose to the pain and suffering in the world It’s a comforting thought however Is only wishful...thinking People can do as they please without eternal consequences The idea that I am deserving of Hell Because of sin Is a lie meant to make me a slave to those in power The more you have the happier you will be Our existence has no grand meaning or purpose In a world with no God There is freedom to be who I want to be But with God Everything is fine It is ridiculous to think I am lost and in need of saving Versus A Christian’s View On Life (Now…read from bottom to top to see a different view.) I am lost and in need of saving It is ridiculous to think Everything is fine But with God There is freedom to be who I want to be In a world with no God Our existence has no grand meaning or purpose The more you have the happier you will be Is a lie meant to make me a slave to those in power Because of sin I am deserving of Hell The idea that People can do as they please without eternal consequences Is only wishful thinking Is a comforting thought, however That an all-powerful God brings purpose to the pain and suffering in the world That there is a God with a cosmic plan It is just foolish to think God does not exist I will live my life according to these beliefs ~ Author Unknown
  12. Is the original sin doctrine correct? I've recently heard it said that it was not. They had a pretty good argument against it. My question is, if original sin doctrine is false, then at 1 point or another in everyone's life they are sinless. It may be when they are very young. The bible says all have sinned. If original sin is false, then the bible is wrong and God has lied when it says all have sinned, because as I said if there is no Original sin then at one point or another there is someone on this earth that has not sinned. So I ask, Is original sin doctrine correct? Please use scripture to support your answer. Firestormx Joseph
  13. I have been studying how the devil has us in bondage to sin. In John 8:30 - 34, Jesus says: "As he spake these words, many believed on him. Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin." And in 2nd Timothy 2:24-26: "And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will." So we see that in the first set of scripture that those which believed on him were also in bondage to sin. And in the second set, that the devil has us in his snare at his will, not ours. So we are truly in bondage.
  14. Most people caught up the opinions of the world don't want to face the truth about what God says about homosexuality, but here goes anyway. In the Old Testament God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of sexual sin like homosexuality. Even Jesus mentions Sodom. In addition, 1 Peter condemns homosexuality. Does that give us the right bash homosexuals? No, but it does give us a clear picture that homosexuals are not headed to heaven and need much prayer so they will repent and turn to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and break free from the bondage they are in.
  15. I have heard the quote. " God does not imbue/hold accountable children for their sin until they reach the age of accountability". I have searched and searched in scripture for this to no avail. Does anyone know where this is located in the bible? I'm starting to think this is like the sea of forgetfulness. I have heard so many people talk about the sea of forgetfulness. Preachers give entire sermons on this subject and principle. Quote the phrase " sea of forgetfulness " over and over. People will say that God casts believers sins into this sea of forgetfulness and tell you it's in the bible. I've heard preachers defend this to the point of calling me a heretic for not believing in a literal sea of forgetfulness. I searched scripture. After much study I came to the realization that the bible never one time mentions a sea of forgetfulness that God casts our sins into. It's a coined phrase out of these verses I think. Micah 7:18-19 Who is a God like You, Pardoning iniquity And passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not retain His anger forever, Because He delights in mercy. 19 He will again have compassion on us, And will subdue our iniquities. You will cast all our sins Into the depths of the sea. These verses, to the best of my understanding, is where people get that God casts our sins into a literal Sea of forgetfulness. While the principle that God does cast our sins into a sea is correct and scripture. God will remember our sins no more is also correct and in the bible. There is no Sea called the sea of forgetfulness ever mentioned in scripture. It is a tradition. Man's tradition, not scripture. So is the phrase and principle of " God does not imbue children with sin " in the bible or is it tradition of men? If anyone can show me I would be grateful. If the basic principle is there and the phrase is not, I would still appreciate if you could point me to, or show me the verses that states this belief. I am looking for this in the bible, so as many verses on this subject as possible would be appreciated. Thank you Firestormx Joseph
  16. Still being defeated............ Just feels like giving it up............
  17. Firestormx, There is only one unforgivible sin,, the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. Putting it plainly,, the sin of disbelief is the only sin that can keep you out of Heaven. As for the Rev. verses you share.. This comes in a time after the rapture.. Christians well already be gone by the time these verses come into play.. God owes the Jews 7 years in which to repent and take Jesus as the promised saviour. Give me about 3 months of saturdays and I'll outline the whole deal.. Just keep studying with the Holy Spirit at your side and all this will come to you. God bless Linehaul
  18. I propose the following consequences are the result of de-volution of cultures due to sin... Summary of Sin's Progression in a Culture: 1. Mankind rejected God’s truth. 2. Not only that but we have suppressed God’s truth and followed after unrighteousness. 3. Because of Mankind’s rejection of truth we fell into idolatry. 4. This leads to fornication and adultery in heterosexual relationships. 5. This is the classic example of the consequences of men not being spiritual leaders in their homes, in the Church, and in society at large. 6. Marriage is no longer valued. So... 7. This then leads to unnatural relations between women. 8. This then leads to unnatural relations between men. 9. God allowed mankind to have a degraded mind and be consumed by all sort of sin. Is this the case in the U.S. today and abroad? Agree? Disagree? Thoughts?
  19. First of all I wanna thank worthyforum for letting me to share things freely and thanks for the ppl who do take time to respond... Now for my concerns...... if I can word this properly. Basically, sin in my life is re-occurring. Happens over and over and over again. I'm always asking for forgiveness and I do feel a since of remorse over them because I "know" that what I'm doing is wrong and against what God would have us to do. Many, many times I've resolved to resist these sins, but I fall right back into them. Over and over and over and OVER again. It's very disheartening. It's like in most things in my life I don't seem to have much control in stopping myself from doing these things. Yet I KNOW they're wrong and I WANT to stop doing them? I've heard about repentance, i.e. turning from my sins, and I've thought I've done that, yet, I keep returning to them. But I DON'T want to return to them..... but my flesh does (and seems to win most of the time.) This in turn brings up the question in my mind.... did I "really" repent? I believe in the Son, Jesus the Christ and I "know" that I can only trust in Him to save me.... but am I even really saved? I find all these other verses in the Bible (sorry can't quote them from memory) that say that we should follow the ways of Christ, turn from our sins and that people who practice XYZ sins will NOT enter the Kingdom of Heaven.... and these really scare me, because I do sin... almost constantly it seems. I HATE doing these things... but I'm still doing them. I know, I know... Romans 7. In my "mind" I know this is a part of my nature and I have to live with it for the rest of my life. In my mind I know I need to fight it for the rest of my life. And I "know" according to Romans 7 that it's really not me that's doing it, but sin "IN" me. And I HAVE been fighting this all my life. I really, honestly feel that I'm the most base of sinners. You know what..... it's getting OLD. VERY OLD. What I'm afraid I see happening to me, is that I've been fighting my nature for SO LONG that I'm starting to weaken in my resolve to even "try" to resist sin. I'm realizing that I give in to my sin more than I can resist it and because of that happening, I'm finding myself wishing God would take me home now. Either cause me to have a massive heart attack or a freak accident or something, but PLEASE get me out of here. I'm SICK of sinning against you (God). Really sick of it. Every day I'm thinking about how I'm sinning against God.... and how much I want to STOP. And you know... at the same time, I also "know" that my flesh wants to KEEP sinning and doing it's old habits and that it seems like I'm powerless to stop it. I'm wishing that He would put me out of my misery, so that I would STOP sinning against Him. Am I missing something here? I know sin should never become comfortable to us, but I "think" there should be some way for me to at least "live" with this some how. Fight more affectively against my flesh and sin. I also believe that this "wishing" that God would take me home now, isn't exactly healthy either. I should be happy to be alive and happy for every day that He gives me. I just have it stuck in my mind that I REALLY WANT TO STOP SINNING AGAINST HIM and the only way I know that can happen is for me to leave this planet. That's how i feel......... :'( Anyway, thanks in advance for any help you can give.
