  1. Behold

    John 3:16 = OSAS

John 3:16, the most universally "known" bible verse ever created...(probably), actually teaches OSAS, and is in fact OSAS. They are the same. God's Grace is OSAS John 3:16 is OSAS Let me show you. Lets study this together. So....once again, let me define OSAS, so that you understand it properly, as there are many liars let loose in the world who have created a false misunderstanding about this term, and so, you need to know what it really means. The Truth. Here is what it really means... OSAS really means... What saved you.......keeps you saved. We are KEPT saved by What saved Us. = We are saved by JESUS, and we are Kept saved by Jesus. Philippians 1:6 Hebrews 12:2 OSAS means, that the Blood of Jesus, that saved us, keeps us saved. Thats it. Thats what it means. And here is John 3:16 that explains it as i have just defined it. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world......that HE GAVE His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever BELIEVES IN JESUS, would not PERISH, but HAS eternal-everylasting life." This verse is one of the ways the NT defines OSAS, and there are many many others. So, lets look at this scripture, in LIGHT of OSAS that means....>"we are saved by Jesus and we are KEPT SAVED by Jesus. = OSAS Now, im going to drill down into this verse a little bit for you, so that you can get the wide perspective of it, in case you are a preacher, teacher, .... or maybe you want to do a Sunday School lesson on this verse, at some point. Therefore, (as always) i'll rightly divide it for you, using in context NT verses that support it. John 3:16........."For God so love the world that He GAVE His only begotten Son. So, how did God give Him?.......God gave Jesus THE Christ, to the WORLD, as a virgin born male, who is the "2nd Adam" who does not literally have an earthly father, which means Jesus is not born with a fallen Adamic (sin nature). Jesus's spiritual nature, is God, because Jesus is God. So then.. He lives a sinless life, and goes to the Cross and dies there..... bearing our Sin. (God so Love the world) the verse says and this is why and to whom Jesus was sacrified ...... And once this is accomplished...(Cross = Salvation), then Jesus says from the Cross...>"it is finished". And that is correct. Salvation, The Blood Atonement is now a completed OFFERING, to the WORLD, to all who would come.... Its a finished Salvation that is waiting to be given for free, ALL THE TIME, EVERYDAY, to anyone who will by FAITH "believe on the name of Jesus, and you shall be SAVED". Then.....and here comes OSAS.. you read in the verse that the born again who have obeyed this verse, (BELIEVED) will never "PERISH".....so, that is explained in John 10:28 were Jesus says you will never "perish", (can't go to hell, can't be damned)(eternal security)... and the born again are also GIVEN .. (you dont earn it) "Eternal Life". Listen Saint... Eternal life IS not a time frame.. ok? This phrase does not mean..."infinity and forever"..but rather, this is the POWER OF JESUS created concept that refers to living with Him and God, in the family of God, as the Body Of Christ, in ETERNITY. "Eternal life", is Jesus Himself, who IS the "resurrection and the LIFE"..... See that "life"...... THAT is eternal Life.......and here it is again...... John 14:6... Jesus saying....."i am The Way, The Truth, and THE LIFE"......and there it is again. Jesus is talking not about a time frame, but He is talking about HIMSELF< who IS Eternal Life... John 11:25 .. So,= this is OSAS......the fact that if you have Jesus..."Christ in you", and you are "in Christ", then because JESUS IS ETERNAL LIFE< then you have it right now, because you have HIM right now, and He has YOU right now = OSAS. Your Eternal Life, does not start after you are DEAD...... You have it NOW. You, the born again, are translated from darkness to Light.....right now. Jesus is the Light of the World and you are Children of the Light.....right NOW. Or as John says in 1 John 5:13 "i write these words so that you will KNOW". Know what? What does John want you to KNOW? ? ? That if you have BELIEVED on CHRIST, then you have ETERNAL LIFE. HAVE IT.........not waiting for it....but HAVE IT, = right now. So, see how ALL that fits like a glove with John 3:16 ? This is the interesting thing about OSAS.....This understanding, is all over the NT. The NT is filled with verses that speak about how Jesus saves you and keeps you saved. Paul will tell you. John just told you, and in fact the entire NT is the Blood of Jesus being written to you as a revelation of God, and how He saved you using a Cross and KEEPS YOU Saved with the Blood of Christ that was shed for you. = OSAS. blessings, <dw><
  2. I hope everyone had a blessed Easter. Jesus is risen, and isn't this Good News. We might add to our prayer time a prayer for those who were injured in Sri Lanka, and of course for their families. -------------------------------------- So, i wanted to ask you... Have any of you ever heard of OSAS? This concept is an interesting outcome of salvation, and a prime result of Grace. Its a "man made" idea, and similar to the word "Trinity", its not found in any Greek Text, or in any Translation of Scripture that make up any New Testament, extant. Now, about "Grace". I like this word "Grace", as this word describes the nature of God, and gives us an understanding of what the Love of God is like. His love is Grace. I guess we could say that a combination of words like (charity, compassion, mercy, hope, goodness, forgiveness), and similar could barely try to help us understand God and His nature of Grace, because its Salvation that really spotlights, "Grace", as this is God giving the life of His Son, for the undeserving, and in this we see......Grace.......The Grace of God. If we consider that Jesus is the heart of God, and when we have seen Jesus, we have seen the Father, then Grace also accurately describes ......Jesus. Jesus, literally IS Grace. This could be explained or demonstrated by the idea that God Himself, wrapped in human flesh, born of a virgin, was "manifested as a man, as a Savior, to take away the sin of the world"......and He did. Jesus bore the sin of the world, but the application of this Grace, is not executed into/unto a person, unless they meet the one requirement that God requires for Him to give to you the "Righteousness of Christ:....and your FAITH, is the one "work" that God requires for you to receive the imputed Righteousness of HIMSELF. No other work will He accept from you, to save you, and recreate you as "born again" for eternity. The Blood Atonement is Grace.......and Salvation is a product of God's Grace. The Cross, the blood of Jesus, the resurrection, these are all examples of Grace as a literal reality, regarding how the Love of God is expressed towards all of His creation, as perfect love and mercy and hope. Another truth and perfect way to express Grace/Salvation, in the Christian context, would be......OSAS. So, what is this, exactly? As there are many deceits written about it in books, and pamphlets, and on forums like this one, and many denominations are probably originally birthed as some type of resistance to the very idea of what they think it means. What i can tell you, is that the KJV and the idea/subject of OSAS, get insulted more by Christians, then any of the cults you find, such as JW's, and Mormons, and others. Yes, the KJV and OSAS, endure more mean spirited carnal ridicule, by people who say they are born again, then any true false religious cult, or all of them, combined. And this is fascinating, as the reality is, most, maybe 90 % of the people who have such hatred in their heart for both the KJV and idea of OSAS, actually have a very skewed and misinformed understanding of both.........and its to this point, i'll write a brief bit of clarification, regarding only one......OSAS. So what is it?......What is OSAS?......... well, simply put its God's Grace. Thats what it is. First, its an understanding that you are born again only once, and that you can't be "unborn again". Just as you can't go back into your mother's womb, you also can't stop being 'in Christ". You can't be "unborn" as a heavenly Son of God, just like you can't be unborn from the Mother who birthed you into this earthly existence. Born is Born.....done is done........"It is finished", once it is applied to you..(Blood Atonement). So, OSAS, is an understanding-comprehension of Salvation and of the Blood Atonement, that realizes that the mercy of God that saved you, is the same mercy that keeps you saved. Its the SAME. = He who saved you, will keep you saved., and you have no part in this...none. Its an understanding that the Law that once judged you as a sinner, has been abolished by the Cross, and thereby has no more power or authority to judge you ever again. This is why the scripture says that "Grace came by Jesus", and we are "Under Grace" now, and no longer under (being judged by) the Law. Romans 4:8. ""Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.""... = This is every born again believer. study it. And this means that God judged Himself on a Cross, as guilty for our sin, and this judgment will never fall again on a born again Son of God in Eternity/Heaven, as it already fell on Jesus The Christ, on earth. If you, the reader, are not saved, if you are not born again, and you die, you will meet God as your Judge, and you can realize what happened to Jesus on a Cross, to honestly evaluate what you are up-against, for eternity, if you die as a Christ Rejector. But if you are born again, then you will never meet God as Judge in heaven, as Christ has already met the Judge for you, on earth. You will only meet your God as your Father, ......IF you are born again. Then there is this part. A person who realizes that OSAS, is just giving God full credit for saving them and keeping them saved, also understands that they are to "be ye holy, as God is holy"...>"present your body a living sacrifice"..... everyday, every minute... without FAIL. See... OSAS, is not a "license to sin", as it is portrayed by liars and similar.....not at all. OSAS, is simply the understanding of "born again"....which gives GOD and Christ full credit, for Salvation...for saving us and keeping us saved. A person who understands that God saves once, and that "born again" happens once, and "God is the author and finisher of our faith, and that the God who started Salvation in us, is faithful to complete it".....OSAS =believes this truth, and does not try to add their self effort (works) in place OF this truth.... that God alone saves you and keeps you saved. Philippians 1:6 : "" Being confident of this very thing, that God who hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ" Hebrews 12:2 : "" Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith"" OSAS, defined....= simply gives God full credit for Salvation......the beginning of it, and the ending of it. Thats it. Simple. And finally, a person who understands that Grace, is OSAS...(they are the same), that Salvation itself is explained perfectly by OSAS.....WE understand also a very important understanding. And this is where the problem starts for legalists, as its this one misunderstanding, that if they could come to understand this one theological fact, and grasp it, they could come to see the Light, that Grace is actually OSAS. Here is their issue.......... A Legalist, or someone who hates OSAS, does not understand that our Christian Discipleship, is something we do because we ARE saved, and never something we do to try to save ourselves or keep ourselves saved. In other words....Salvation, is all of God, applied to us...and then, ONCE WE HAVE IT.... we try to live a lifestyle (Discipleship) that reflects what we have become, that is caused and kept ONLY by God and the Blood of Jesus. The legalist, has the idea that God started salvation, and they finish it by their lifestyle, and if they get this wrong, or don't do enough, then, God will remove them from the Book of Life, and Jesus will find a way out of their body, and take the Holy Spirit with Him. Which of course, is impossible, but that is what would have to happen, if you could "lose it".(lose your salvation). And so, OSAS, understands that this is not possible. Its not possible for Jesus to exit you once He is living IN YOU and you are "in Christ"..= "unborn again". However the legalist will insist that this can happen if you dont continue in a lifestyle that they feel QUALIFIES you to stay saved and inherit heaven by works, ONLY if you continue..... So, one thing to add... and for you to consider. Every work, you can do for God... commandment keeping, confessing sins, missionary work, joining a church, living a holy lifestyle.... Listen, all of these DEEDS, can be done, even if Jesus never hung as God on a Cross. Now think about that... In other words, all that a legalist is doing to "stay saved".. all of it, can be done by ANYONE, and Jesus never had to come down here as God and die, if any of this could save you. So, a question for you legalist....= Would any of those works you are doing that you can do, before the Cross was given, or after.......If there was NO CROSS, would any of your works, works, works, save you? NO !! Then why would you believe that if none of those can save you, and only Jesus Saves, .. would you believe that what won't save you without the Blood Atonement, the CROSS......why would you think any of these works, if not done after you are SAVED, that this could cause you not to be saved? This type Legalist mentality, is not only missing truth, its missing Logic. So, a legalist believes that what can't save them...is able to take away their salvation, if they dont do the LIST of works, whatever that is, (till they die) as its a different list for each legalist. > Wild. So, the OSAS person, understands that all that legalism junk, is not something they will ever be found dead worrying about, because they understand that the God who saves us, keeps us saved, and that is OSAS.......thats what it means. It means to give full credit to God and Christ for Salvation....Both saving us and keeping us saved, as this is GRACE, and GRACE is OSAS. Philippians 1:6 : "" Being confident of this very thing, that God who hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ" Hebrews 12:2 : "" Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith""
  3. Maybe someone reading this is not so happy, and needs a hug. So, If i might give you some thoughts that could possibly be a new set of "new eyes" for you. First, life is hard. Its difficult. Life tends to be a test that just keeps on testing, and it can be so tiring. At one point the Apostle Paul was just sick of it all, and wanted to go and be with Jesus and the Father and the Saints and the Host of Heaven, but He decided to stay here instead as He knew it was "More needful"..really mattered that He stayed, as the "Church" was still brand new and needed Him so much. But Paul was tired of "life".....the grind...and so, also there is this fact.. "Jesus is touched with the feelings of our sad feelings". He lived here as a Man, God became ONE OF US.....and so He understands exactly how it feels to be in this world and in this Life. Your NT says something that you'll probably never hear a preacher preach, but i'll tell you. It says that "Jesus learned obedience by the things He SUFFERED"... down here. And that is Jesus the MAN, being on this earth, dealing with LIFE< just like we do, and that is why He is so filled with compassion for us always......that he understands exactly what makes us feel, what we feel. I live in Israel, and i live sometimes in the States, and ive walked where The Lord has walked, and its HOT in the SUMMER where He always had to walk, where he LEARNED all about TIRED and Thirsty. Jesus is touched with the feelings we feel, my brothers and my sisters. Jesus KNOWS your NAME. God KNOWS your NAME. Everything we feel,......= God, as Christ has also felt, yet without sinning. And because God is touched by our grief and our pain and our frustrations......we should come to understand that He understands us perfectly when we pray, and He is able to give us comfort where we need it the most. God gives us grace for LIFE...for these TESTS....regarding the fact that Life is a test. So, = When you need more Grace, when you need more help from God, then lean on Him more. Spend more time with Him,.... as His Grace that is His power to lift you up and out of tests and trouble, is more generous and readily available when you spend more time with Him. Really. You've heard this...>"god helps those who helps themselves"...? well, thats not really exactly how it works., tho it is true that we function within the natural and God functions within and outside the Natural Realm. It is true that we do all we can, then God takes it from there. Yes, thats true... Its true that God rewards effort, but its also true that end results we leave to GOD. So, when you want more Help, you give God more of you. When you need more help, then give God more of yourself. When you give Him all of you.......ahhh, there is the final answer, isn't it? Works every time. So its more true to say..>"God helps those who need more help from Him". Thats actually how Christianity works, for our benefit. When we are WEAK, then God is Strong in us, for us, and through us. When we get down on our knees, then God LIFTS US UP. God makes something out of nothing, and the reality is, as compared to God, we are all quite nothing ....... And , ....everyone has seasons in their life that are not what we would choose, and we are stuck in them. Take heart, because, everything changes. Life IS Change...and whatever you are feeling that is making you unhappy.....It will change also, so be ready for the next.....as Life is always..the next and the next change, and for the Believer, we have God with us because He is IN US. So, no matter what, He will always work out whatever is going wrong, and recreate this for us, as a benefit. Every season of time we are going through , if bad, then God will make it a benefit for us....and if Good, then God will make it a benefit for us. All in time. God is really good at everything He created, and He created it all. 3 specific things He really does well are : 1.) Redeem the lost for eternity with the Blood of His Son. 2.) Change hard circumstances in our personal lives that we need Him to RESOLVE so that we can have peace again, and hope again, and LIFE again. 3.) Making our dreams a reality. He is really good at all of these, Saint Your bible teaches that God "thinks on you"....This means He literally thinks about all of His Children. US. And you know this must be true... we know it is, because this is our Heavenly Father, who Gave His Son for us. We matter to Him....that much. And let me tell you......there is no love like His that you can find down here, as this is God loving you, and its not like what we find with our family, friends, wife, husband, children, pets. its better, its bigger, its wider, its deeper, its more fulfilling, and its eternal. God's love is truly unaffected by our behavior, and is always unconditional. God is Love. Also, we are all in it together, all stuck down here, as Believers, waiting for something good that is soon coming. What is coming is JESUS and us leaving this place with HIM. And we are all going to leave it, if we are born again. But the BEST News is, what is on the other side is not like this place. Its going to be SO GOOD., and it will NEVER EVER END. Finally, Let me ask you a question. Whatever it is that is keeping you from being as happy today as you want to be.. that seems so important to you today..... Well, in 1,000,000 ...On Million Years from now, you will be alive, and you will be with God and Christ and me, and all the born again believers here,.... and so...A million years from now, as you are enjoying God and all He has for us that we are waiting for....A million years from now, do you think you will care THEN about what it is that you are caring about now?.....Will it matter to you then? Will it matter to you.......then ? Thats something to consider, anytime you find the cares of this life are causing you some pain.
  4. The reality is........The Blood of Christ has already cleansed our Sin.....all of it.....>Tomorrow's included. "Where SIN abounds...Grace moreso Abounds".... = means....when you sin, after you are saved, the Blood Atonement has already paid for that one ALSO.... It means that when you sin a year from now, on a Monday morning, just before you come here to argue about OSAS, and you sin....THE CROSS has already taken care of that one also. Realize the revelation that something that happened 2000 years ago on a CROSS, is still your Salvation 20 yrs from NOW ! If a Legalist could actually comprehend that you can't out-sin the BLOOD of CHRIST, that this blood, has actively and permanently SOLVED your "sin" issue, then what a happy Christian they would be, as then they could actually Trust Christ, totally., and not just partly, and then they have to work the rest of their way into heaven. This is why Jesus died for you. Its what He's doing on the Cross. He is Paying for (cleansing) our sin, from us, by dying FOR IT ALL. Amazing how many people who claim to be Christians can't even begin to comprehend SALVATION. Legalists don't understand that the CROSS is a completed work (Blood Atonement), so, they reach into the bible with eyes closed, and never care to learn or realize that not every verse is aimed at a born again believer. Now, for those of you who have not been taught anything about your NT, or your bible in general..... Scriptures in the NT, and OT< are sometimes literal, sometimes symbolic, and sometimes allegorical....in meaning. For example, "all who call on the name of Jesus, shall be SAVED"...is literal. But, "take this cup, as its the blood of the New Covenant"...... this can't be LITERAL, as Jesus's blood is still in HIS BODY, when He's drinking the cup. See it? ? A legalist does not understand that "where there is no law, there is no transgression".....as "Christ has ABOLISHED THE LAW"..... is in the NT, reader. Ephesians 2:15 A legalist, reads Romans 4:8, where they are told that God does not hold them accountable, for sin...(impute)....... and they just ignore this and run back to Hebrews, a book-letter not written to the CHURCH, but to UNSAVED JEWS...... and then they get lost in it. And why LEGALIST,..... does God not hold you accountable, in Eternity, for your sin that you do tomorrow and next week? A.) Because God already held Jesus accountable on the CROSS for them ALL. Understand? as this is so so important for you to understand. A Legalist will take a verse out of Matthew, given before Jesus was on the Cross, that is not NT doctrine for the Blood Bought Redeemed Church, and use this verse out of context to prove to themselves they can "lose it".(Their Salvation) A Legalist thinks they are in Christ, then fall out of Christ when they sin, and if they confess = do penance or whatever other deeds they can come up with, they get back INTO Christ. However, Christ has contradicted you, as He said "I will never leave you or forsake you"...so, "Christ in you, the hope of Glory", is a fact, that you need to start believing. A Legalist actually believes they are saved untill they sin, then confess, and are saved again, ... as if Salvation is a type of Yo-Yo, of sinning confessing, sinning confessing, sinning confessing.....up down, up down.,... kinda crazy, isn't it? And all of this confusion and chaos is not only the misunderstanding the Blood Atonement, its also not giving FULL Credit DUE to the finished work of Jesus on the Cross.... and that is the REAL issue, for the Legalist.
  5. Legalism, is Galatians 1:8. Its very specific, and here is how you should understand it. Its when a person's belief system regarding Salvation, is that "Justification by Faith, ALONE", means to them, that they must add their self righteous works TO IT.....to complete it. Legalism means, that a person believes that Salvation is the Cross + Their Christian Discipleship (Their Works)....... In other words, they pretend that The Blood Atonement is God's Salvation, but what they really believer and argue about and teach, is that the Blood Atonement, is only a part of Redemption, and their WORKS, and yours, COMBINED< is what God accepts to save you, and keep you saved. Legalism is the heresy that teaches that The Blood of Christ + Works, is Redemption. = Galatians 1:8 Legalism is pretzel logic, that tries to corrupt the words of James, in an effort to subvert the doctrine of "Justification by Faith", that Jesus gave to Paul, personally. Now, what is the NT idea - explanation, regarding "self righteous"?? Its that a person is trying, by their works, deeds, effort, and enduring, to make themselves right with God, either before they are born again, or they are trying to maintain their Salvation, by their works, deeds, effort, and enduring, AFTER they are already saved. So, what you need to understand, is that a.... Works + The Cross = Salvation theology, .....Legalism......is actually trodding underfoot the Holy Blood of Christ, because this person, this theology, is actually teaching that Christ's Blood is not quite enough, and that "works" are needed to finish the Atonement. Legalism, disrespects and insults The Holy Spirit and The Blood of Christ, by teaching that a person's works are in some way of equal value, and need to be combined with God's Blood shed on a Cross for Salvation to be completed in a person's life. = Galatians 1:8
  6. Many times in the past, I have tried to read the Bible, but I have always struggled with poor concentration and barely managed to read a few sentences at a time, and with little ability to comprehend their true meaning. I would often give up and just void reading the Bible completely. I prayed and asked the Lord to help me really immerse myself in the Bible, and immediately I was able to start reading larger sections and I am now able to understand and meditate on the meaning and context. On top of that, He has shown me the true joy of reading the Bible. It no longer feels like a chore, it feels like something I want to do, and that I enjoy doing. I am truly grateful - thank you, Lord!
  7. It has occurred to me that some individuals using the club and following the links on the daily reading pages to go to read the passages online, are confronted with the question of which Bible version they should use. I have created a webpage that can help one make that decision, if one has not yet done so. The page is not super-informative, but it does offer some basic information to get one started. There are version abbreviations, reading grade level, type of translation, some notes on what the textural basis of the versions are, and links to get one further information if desired. There will be information there also, explaining some of the terminology used in the page as well, but for now, the page is incomplete, to be completed shortly. The grade level rating, is not there to suggest that you choose your grade level, but is a guideline that indicated a level of reading ease or difficulty. Those who have difficulty understanding some version or for whom English is a second language, may want to choose a version which is a lower grade lever, and thus easier to read.
  8. I would not be surprized if this video is not already in here, but I figured it was faster to make a new post, that to find one here. I wanted to be able to make reference to this in another thread, so here it is:
  9. Am I the only one who sees the lack of faith in this modern day age? All over the world, there is strife, anger and rebellious lewd spirits roaming about. America, our "Great Country" is getting closer and closer to becoming the modern day Sodam and Gomora, full of lust and pride. How have we become so separated from God? When I was a child, nearly everyone was a Christian, not downing other people's beliefs, (even though they are worshipping false gods, and thats for God to judge). But Christ was the driving force behind this country's motives. Now money, power (the abuse of it), lust, are the motives of the people. How do we combat this? By spreading God's Word, His Love, and His Message, even if it is in the most subtle of ways. God is returning to claim his true followers. I am not going to bury the coin, (the gift that God has given me), and wait for His return. I aim to spread His message. In truth and humbleness until boldness is called for.
  10. LET HIM THAT HATH INDERSTANDING COUNT THE NUMBER OF THE BEAST .(140 + 131 + 139 + 256 = 666) ............................................The Apokalupsis: ..............................the uncovering, the unveiling, the revealing, It's abundantly clear that verses like Rev 13:18 and Rev15:2 present the argument that Gematria was used by THE BIBLE'S AUTHORSHIP - at the bible's inception - embedded during construction. Because for one: the translators translated Chi-Xi-Stigma (χξς) into a number, using Gematria. And Revelation 15:2 being THE SMOKING GUN: counting for us the number of the beast; 666. ...............................................................................................χξς = 600, 60, 6 ................It is easily seen and provable: that the translators - USING GEMATRIA - ................considered "χξς" as a number because they - TRANSLATED IT TO THAT NUMBER 1) Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding COUNT THE NUMBER OF THE BEAST: for it is the NUMBER of a man; and his - NUMBER - is "Six hundred, Threescore, and Six". (Rev 13:18) And Revelation 15:2 being "THE SMOKING GUN" - showing us how to count ..............making clear - THE BIBLE's AUTHORSHIP - used Gematria - ............................COUNTED THE NUMBER OF THE BEAST .................................140 + 131 + 139 + 256 = 666 ......................................"over the beast"(140), ......................................"over his image"(131), ......................................"over his mark"(139), ......................................"over the number of his name"(256), ......................................140 + 131 + 139 + 256 = 666 2) And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, over his image, over his mark, over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God. (Rev 15:2) ____________ God bless Ed J
  11. JW Belief is first, the Bibilcal position is in bold Christ is God's Son and is inferior to him. Christ is God. He took on the form of man to come to earth. 12. Almost every assertion we make only begets a new question. If we claim that heaven is a spiritual existence with God, then what is hell? We can't really call it a spiritual existence without God because God is omnipresent, existing in all places at all times. Even the unsaved will spend eternity with God then. Hell may be better described as an eternal existence against God, an eternity of living in unchanging, irrevocable opposition against that which you can never change, the overwhelming presence of God's omnipotent Spirit. Mankind's ongoing problem is that we are born as creatures of the flesh, and as such, we are in natural opposition to things of the spirit. We live in the flesh which goes against the grain of the spirit. And since God is the One True Spirit, we end up in a natural, lifelong opposition to Him. This is the battle between spirit and flesh, between good and evil that we are all destined to fight. It is an internal Armageddon going on inside all of us. This battle going on within the hearts of men could well be in perfect accordance with God's plan for us. This battle in and for the hearts of men may be how all flesh is eventually brought into willing subjugation to the greater Spirit, the Spirit of the one, true and eternal God. 13. I think that as Christian's, we too can be "in the spirit" like John in the book of Revelation. It is when you have a lot of faith and in this time a lot of God's revelations (things that will happen) come to us. The book of Revelation has this title because of this - it was revealed to John how things will be. A good way to get a lot of faith is to read your bible for a long period of time maybe an hour on an occasion - you cannot do this all the time but you should daily read your bible for shorter periods. Get an enjoyable version that is fun to encourage you to do this (I like the Message and/or the ESV - English Standard Version): Faith is our link to God so having a link in faith enables Him to reveal things to us through what is like a telephone line that has been setup. Read your favourite bible version and pray to God like you are having a conversation with Him whilst you are having a coffee - who knows, you might end up having a chat, coming closer to someone who loves you more than you could ever know and therefore making Him very happy. Make sure you use wisdom with your faith though so you can discern away mis-leading spirits that may effect the conversation. This is noise and interference on the telephone line. Shalom
  14. What was your walk with God like? Did you have any experience's? Did anything change? Miracles? Testing? Holy spirit?
  15. I am new in reading the Bible, and last night I read this passage that made me close the book and start crying. In Matthew 5:32, Jesus denounces divorce, stating that any man who divorces his wife other than for adultery, has caused her to become and adulteress. I got divorced after 12 years for reasons other than adultery. I'm discouraged in reading this, because it basically means that I will never be honored with another relationship blessed by God, even if it is with a Godly man, because I have become an adulteress through my divorce. I am only 32 and this is extremely depressing. Any thoughts or words of encouragement on this?
  16. Hello everyone, So when I ask about who wrote the bible, people give me different answers. But who actually wrote it? I believe so much wisdom could not come from men alone
  17. Hey everyone, I wanted to ask what was your experience in the past being with a traditional church or visiting one? Were both traditional churches (Orthodox & Catholic) friendly upon your visit or if you grew up in the church was there drama or other stuff going on around you? Reason why I'm asking is because I'm from an Orthodox Church and have taken up the curiosity of visiting other churches to hear other believers opinions upon the traditional churches, etc. I have heard many positive and negative things about the two and I would like to hear yours as well. God Bless!
  18. I am considering, hosting a trivia event. I have not yet determined, if it will be strictly Bible trivia, or maybe some other things, but it will be more about the Bible, than other things, for sure. I have not figured out all of the details, but I am trying to arrange it, where this will be a live event in the chatroom, for the sake of not only enhancing our knowledge of the Word, but to have some fun just answering questions in the heat of "competition". However, I know that it is not convenient enough, that everyone can attend that event, so to encourage broader participation, and make it "fair" to all, the chat event, will not be the place from which, the prize winner will be drawn. Let me rephrase that just a little. It could well be, that a participant in the chat version, turns out to be the winner, but the winner will be determined another way. I cannot tip my hand here, because there is nothing in the hand yet. Never-the-less, it could be, that those participating in chat would have a small edge, maybe not to win, but to do so more easily. However, anyone could get all of the answers right, without being in chat. Similarly, those who are doing the daily readings here, will also have it easier, at least in the Bible related questions, since all of the Bible questions, will come from material in our Bible club reading assignments. Now, just to make it more that fair . . . anyone with access to a Bible, or the internet, will be able to easily research the answers to the questions. The winner will come from among the top respondents (in terms of accuracy). In the case of a draw, which is likely if people actually try, then a winner will be chosen - probably by some random means. As I said, this is still in planning at this point. Stay tuned.
  19. 1. Quit expecting the world to like you. Jesus said it would hate you (John 15:18-27, Matthew 10:22). 2. Quit throwing your own teammates under the bus. We're called to build each other up, not tear each other down. In fact, Jesus said that our love for each other proves to the world that we are really His true disciples (John 13:35, 1 Thessalonians 5:11). 3. Quit gossiping. This includes sharing "juicy prayer requests" with no intention of actually praying (Psalms 34:13, Psalms 101:5, Ephesians 4:29). 4. Quit replacing prayer with "good vibes" and "positive thoughts." No. Just no. Prayer moves the hand of God and the hand of God moves the world. Prayer is much more effective than making someone feel warm and fuzzy inside. By the way, I'm not saying positive thoughts and good vibes are wrong (and they do make you feel good), I'm just saying prayer trumps them both (2 Corinthians 1:11, Philippians 1:19, Ephesians 6:18, James 5:16). 5. Quit saying repentance isn't necessary. It is. Jesus said so. And just so you know, there are 53 references to repentance in the New Testament. Now go repent (Matthew 5:17, Acts 3:19, Romans 2:5, 2 Peter 3:9, 1 John 1:9).
  20. SCIENCE IN THE BIBLE Spherical Earth. “It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth." Isaiah 40:22. "..when he set a compass upon the face of the depth." Proverbs 8:27. Circle 2329 = Compass 2329 in Hebrew is "Khoog" = to describe a circle, or circuit, meaning the horizon which is circular. In 712 BC, when Isaiah wrote this, people thought that the earth was flat, and that you could sail over the edge of it and fall off. Columbus and Magellan proved that the earth was circular by sailing around it in a circle from East to West and then returning to the point of departure. Question: How did the Bible know that the earth was spherical? Answer: God wrote it! The Earth Hangs in Space. "He hangs the earth upon nothing." Job 26:7 stated 1500BC. Until modern times "experts" believed ideas such as the earth sat on four elephants, who stood on a giant turtle, who swam in the ocean. Man could not imagine how the earth could hang in space on nothing. Yet this is what happens due to gravitational attraction between the earth and the sun, giving the appearance that the earth hangs on nothing. The Bible includes some principles of fluid dynamics. Job 28:25 "To establish a weight for the wind,And apportion the waters by measure." The fact that air has weight was proven scientifically only about 300 years ago. The relative weights of air and water are needed for the efficient functioning of the world’s hydrologic cycle, which in turn sustains life on the earth. The bible includes reasonably complete descriptions of the hydrologic cycle. Psalm 135:7 "He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; He makes lightning for the rain; He brings the wind out of His treasuries." Jeremiah 10:13 "When He utters His voice,There is a multitude of waters in the heavens: And He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth. He makes lightning for the rain, He brings the wind out of His treasuries.” In these verses you can see several phases of the hydrologic cycle—the worldwide processes of evaporation, translation aloft by atmospheric circulation, condensation with electrical discharges, and precipitation. The Bible describes the recirculation of water. Ecclesiastes 1:7 "All the rivers run into the sea,Yet the sea is not full;To the place from which the rivers come, There they return again." Isaiah 55:10 "For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there,But water the earth,And make it bring forth and bud,That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater, " Hydrothermal vents are described in two books of the Bible written before 1400BC—more than 3,000 years before their discovery by science. Genesis 7:11 "In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened." Job 38:16 "Have you entered the springs of the sea? Or have you walked in search of the depths?" Cloud Balancing. "Dost thou know the balancing of the clouds?" Job 37:16. Clouds are floating in the air, balanced by two forces: gravity pulling them downwards, and warm air pushing them upwards. How did Job know about this in 1500 BC? God told him. All Mankind came from One Woman. "Adam called his wife's name Eve: because she was the mother of all living." Genesis 3:20. DNA is found in every cell, in both the nucleus and the mitochondrion (energy station). Mitochondrial DNA is always and only inherited from the mother. Analysis of this DNA in humans from all over the world shows unmistakably that all humans have inherited it from one woman. This research was done by Wilson, Cann, and Stoneking from the University of California, Berkeley. (Creation Ex Nihilo, Vol.12, No.2, March 1990). The Bloodstream Carries Life. "The life of the flesh is in the blood." Leviticus 17:11. From 400 BC to 1900 AD, a procedure called "blood letting" was popular. Sick people had blood drained from their bloodstream as a supposed therapeutic measure. It was responsible for killing millions of people, such as George Washington. People thought that blood carried disease instead of life. By draining the blood, the patient died of blood loss. Now we give blood to some sick patients. The Bible was right again. Winds blow in Circuits. "The wind goes toward the south, and turns about unto the north, it whirls about continually and the wind turns again according to his circuits." Ecclesiastes 1:6. At the equator, the sun heats the air causing it to rise. In the upper atmosphere this airflows away from the equator. When the air returns to the earth's surface, it flows across the surface. This moving surface air produces the six belts of prevailing winds around the earth. Winds have Weight and hence Air Pressure. "To make the weight for the winds." Job 28:25. Galileo in 1600 AD noted that a suction pump would not raise water more than 34 feet. Torricelli suggested that if air could support a column of water 34 feet high, then air should support a column of mercury about 2.5 feet high, because mercury is 13 times as heavy as water. Torricelli made a mercury barometer and proved that air has pressure Can a Whale swallow Jonah "Now the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights." Jonah 1:17. Many people use this as their reason for doubting the Bible's truthfulness. How can a fish swallow a man? Several cases in modern times have been reported of a whale swallowing a man who survived. One is reported by Francis Fox in "Sixty-three years of Engineering" p.298-300 and confirmed by two scientists, one being M. DeParville, the scientific editor of "Journal Des Debats" in Paris. In February 1891, the whaling ship, "Star of the East" was near the Falkland Islands, where they sighted a large sperm whale. Two boats were sent out after the whale. One boat harpooned the whale, but the whale upset the other boat, drowning one man and the other sailor James Bartley, disappearing without a trace. After the whale was killed and cut open two days later, James Bartley was found unconscious and doubled up inside the whale. He had lost his senses through fright and not through lack of air. His skin was bleached white from stomach acid. He fully recovered. If a man can survive two days in a whale in 1891, surely Jonah could have survived three days in a great fish in 862 BC. Sea Paths or Ocean Currents. "Whatsoever passes through the paths of the sea". Psalm 8:8. "Paths" in Hebrew means "customary roads." Matthew Maury is the father of Oceanography. A statue of him exists in Virginia with charts of the sea in one hand and a Bible in the other. Until Maury's work there were no charts of sailing lanes. One day during a temporary illness, his son read from Psalm 8:8. Maury stopped him, asking him to read it again. Maury then said: "It is enough. If the Word of God says that there are paths in the sea, they must be there, and I am going to find them." Within a few years he had charted the sea lanes and ocean currents. Question: How did the Bible know about sea paths or ocean currents? Answer: God wrote it. Light can be Parted or Dispersed into a Rainbow Spectrum. "By what way is the light parted (Heb.2505)?" Job 38:24. "Parted" in Hebrew is "chalaq” which means, "separated". White light can be separated into 7 colours of the spectrum which are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. This was not understood until experiments with light were performed in the 1600's. Note: Light is like Jesus Christ: "I am the light of the world." John 9:5. As light has seven colours, so Christ has the seven spirits of God. See Isaiah 11:1,2.
  21. My favorite bible verse is probably I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. one of the oldest verses I ever learned was from Ephesians 2:8-9 it was a verse that profoundly made me who I am today. i was saved at age 6 from the most popular powerful verse everyone should know. John 3:16 Jeremiah 29 also stuck with me. whats your favorite bible verses?
  22. “It’s not just that we don’t know our Bible but that we have so fragmented, dissected, and compartmentalized the Bible that we have lost sight of its great overarching story.” Hugh Whelchel i Occasionally I ask myself, what motivates me to write. In response, I would have to say it's religious opposition and a deeply seated desire to see the church walking in truth. The idea of walking in truth, in my mind, means a church that is trained appropriately in the Word. I don't see that happening at any of the churches I have been a part of. An aspect of that opposition recently occurred as a “brother” in Christ, told a friend of mine, that I believe life has to be one-way, mine. Have you read any of my posts? Do I present myself like that? Hardly, I attempt to show God's word as the only basis for truth, and, in a manner that people can understand. I suppose, to some degree, that means adding my commentary to what I write in an effort to promote understanding, but leaving the decision-making process to the reader, as they accept or reject God's word. With that understanding you are not rejecting me, you are denying God's truth and mercy, as you refuse what God's word says. Elijah, the prophet, bemoaned his situation and cried out that he was alone in Israel. 1 Kings 19:9-10 NASB Then he came there to a cave and lodged there; and behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and He said to him, "What are you doing here, Elijah?" 10) He said, "I have been very zealous for the LORD, the God of hosts; for the sons of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars and killed Your prophets with the sword. And I alone am left; and they seek my life, to take it away." And yes, that is the way I feel some days. God's response. 1 Kings 19:18 NASB "Yet I will leave 7,000 in Israel, all the knees that have not bowed to Baal and every mouth that has not kissed him." I realize that I am not alone, but the number of those who are passionate about God are few. I am fortunate to sit with a few of them on a weekly basis. Having had someone say of me, “he believes it has to be, his way or no way,” is somewhat like a slap in my face, and I can tell you I am highly intolerant of actions like that. So, why would someone say something like that about me? Perhaps it is because I am very passionate about truth and God's word. Sending everyone to hell at the Great White Throne has nothing to do with truth; it merely demonstrates how adamant this man is about judgment, something we are to leave to Jesus, [especially since ALL judgment has/or will be given to Him.] The Apostle Paul was not put off by the scholars of the Berean community. In fact, he thought highly of them. This body of believers did their research and found that Torah and Tanakh validated what Paul was saying. Having legitimized Paul's statements they believed. When you consider the limited resources, these men had, our accolades for them should be even more significant. Let me give you an example of what this opposition to, and the rejection of, the truth looks like. The man who leads the Monday morning study, once again pointed out that he was an ordained Bible study leader, not a pastor. As the leader, he has just about every week, exclaimed that everyone brought to the Great White Throne judgment is sent to hell. If you are a reasonable student of the Bible you should be asking, is that a correct statement? The answer is NO, but why would you know that? Because you have read the Word of God, as you should; you looked at the context; compared alternate texts and scenarios, and, like a hungry pet who has, awaited you to come home so they can eat, chewed on and ingested every word so that you could understand the depth and meaning of the Greek words being used and their Hebrew origins. But here is where the problem lays, as statistically, no one does that? The statistical work I am going to show you were undertaken by Lifeway Research in 2014. Here is an excerpt from Christianity Today.ii “Some Stats to Consider Bible Reading Americans read the Bible on occasion—churchgoers a little more. In a recent LifeWay Research study, we learned the following about our Bible reading habits among church attendees. They indicated that they read their Bible as follows: 19% - Every day 26% - A few times a week 14% - Once a week 22% - At least once a month 18% - Rarely or never. There are a couple of interesting takeaways from this study. Almost 60% of churchgoers open our Bibles at home during the week at least once. And for every person who is reading his/her Bible every day (19%), someone isn’t… at all (18%).” Do you think, in this condition of apostasy, that the numbers would improve any as time progresses? I was pondering this idea before pulling up the statistical information. My guess/estimate would have been about 20% of the “church” actually reading their Bibles every day. But even then I could see a problem with that number because I sit with some of these 20% per-centers, and know for a fact that they will not move off their traditional interpretations and understandings regardless of what you show them in scripture. Are you beginning to see a problem? Illiteracy has no option but to run rampant through the church; And, it is not just the church. I just read yesterday, 5/10/2018, that schools have found they are going to have to take down the analog clocks on the schoolhouse walls and replace them with digital clocks because no one can read them. Let's go back to the significant false teaching of the morning “bible” study – how that everyone coming before the Great White Throne goes to a fiery hell. The first question is: how does one study the Bible? It seems to me that everyone should know how to do this; in truth, I had to learn how. Every student should: Read the text without a premise. As you read ask, what is this passage supposed to be saying to me? Do not merely assume that the teacher standing before you, saying things like, “What Paul is saying here,” is the truth. [Here is a heads up. Paul, a former Pharisee, a man who was very skillful at what he did, had no problem speaking to JEWS, about this new life and grace found in Christ. This is the case as Saul/Paul spoke about the Hebrew wording within the Law and the Prophets and pointed out the evidence in those words, which led to an understanding, in those who chose to listen, that Jesus of Nazareth was the Messiah they longed for. Paul made it clear that our acceptance of Yahshua brought about this life and the hope we have come to understand.] The idea of reading without a premise can be applied to my pastor's sermons since he has a motive and a point to be made. In pushing his motive, he has created a premise and is working to make the scriptures fit his premise. These directed efforts often work in opposition to my understanding of Bible study. Look at the context. An example of this applies to what I am going to analyze momentarily – Matthew 25, where we see the sheep and the goats at the throne of judgment. The context surrounding this word picture begins in Matthew 21, when Jesus rides into Jerusalem, on the back of an unridden donkey – the Rolls Royce of the day, and He is perceived as the Messiah Israel hoped for. Unfortunately, He did not do what the disciples, nor the people expected, as He overturned the sellers tables, chairs, and loosed their merchandise where they had been selling, in the court of the Gentiles. And then, Jesus got into a verbal confrontation with the elders and Pharisees. All this activity shook the disciples and prompted them to ask, “when will all these things come to pass, and what will be the sign of your coming as the Messiah. I am always analyzing the scriptures even as the pastor speaks. I examine the context and what the interlinear Greek or Hebrew dictionary says the words mean. Occasionally, the pastor is preaching in opposition to what the words mean. As a side note: Pastor and I had a bad moment one day, as he challenged me about my intensive focus on end times and the eschatology books of the Bible. In his indictment of me, he said, “Notice how in my sermons, I present the gospel in a manner that brings about change in people.” I try not to overthink the pastor's words that day, but isn't that what the Word of God is supposed to do, change people? Look for a comparative text. Many of the Calvary Chapel pastors, like Don Stewart or the late Chuck Smith, used to say, “allow scripture to define scripture.” What does that mean? As I read the Revelation, I see where John, on two occasions, in speaking to the churches, uses the term the Synagogue (Rev 2:9, Rev 3:9.) Why is this significant? Because John, was not writing in code as some would ascribe, he was writing to Jewish converts/followers of Christ. And therefore, spoke in a language they would immediately understand. Greek, of course, was one aspect of this language but the other carried the oral history and word stories from the Old Testament. The evidence for this is rather extensive and is demonstrated in the writings of James (James 2:2) and the Apostle Paul. Read Acts 18. In every city we find Paul entering the local Synagogue and preaching. For over fifteen years Paul preached, almost exclusively, to Jews. It was only after years of abuse at the hands of religious Jews that Paul finally said, and I am taking this message to the Gentiles. The Apostle John, James, Peter, and Paul focused their attention on the Jewish community. Peter, although he had a brief exchange with the Roman Centurion's family, maintained, as did James and John, a focus on Jews. [Read Paul's account in Galatians 2,] Many of these believed for years that this gospel of Jesus was meant exclusively for Jews. Peter, in 2 Peter 3:10 says, “But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.” NASB This passage has clear and definite associations with Isaiah 13:9; Jeremiah 46:10 among others. In conjunction with the idea of comparative texts, was the indication that everything, aside from direct revelation from the Holy Spirit, came out of the Torah and Tanakh. Paul's letters; James words on wisdom, and the Revelation that John conveyed, all came from the Old Testament. We can put this idea of comparative texts into action where Revelation speaks of a multi-headed beast with crowns and horns (Revelation 13:1). This imagery is found in multiple locations but primarily in the words of the prophet Daniel (Daniel 7:7). Matthew 25:31-45, where we see the sheep and goats, is a comparative text. The words Jesus spoke were in response to questions His Jewish disciples ask him, and those words made sense to a Jewish audience. If you had been a student in Synagogue school you were expected to memorize the Old Testament teachings. Therefore, one might expect that these people were looking for these events to happen. Try to take in as much of the background wording into consideration as you can. When I look at Matthew 25:31-45 in the NASB, the segment that speaks of the sheep and goats carries the headline, The Final Judgment. That headline in itself gives me nothing of value except as a reference point. If I were looking for a direct association to the final judgment, there is nothing within these verses that define this explicitly by using that terminology. Can I find an inference of final judgment in verse 31? Matthew 25:31 NASB "But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. Here you see the Son of Man coming in His glory. This is the same Jesus that Stephen saw, as he stood before the Jewish council (Acts 7:55-56,) and it is the same Jesus that Daniel saw in Daniel 7:13. And, He will sit on His glorious throne. There is a passage in Joel 3:12 that would cause the audience listening to the speaker that day to take note. Joel 3:12 LITV Let the nations be awakened and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat. For there I will sit to judge all the nations all around. This passage in Joel can easily be associated with the judgment we are about to see in Matthew 25. These two points alone do not convince me, as we see Jesus coming in Revelation 19 prior to Him being seated for judgment, and, there is no account of Him sitting upon His throne in Revelation 19. To be honest, I have to stretch my mind a bit to see the final judgment. However, if I look at the next verse, the finality suddenly becomes clearer, especially if I have an understanding of Joel 3:12. [Mat 25:32 And before Him shall be gathered all the nations;] There is only one glorious throne. Is this the same throne that we see in Revelation? We have to look at Revelation 20:11 and see if there is something here that matches. Revelation 20:11 NASB Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled away, and no place was found for them. A great white throne Our only references to a white throne come from 1 Kings 10:18 and 2Ch 9:17, and they are effectively the same story 1 Kings 10:18 NASB Moreover, the king made a great throne of ivory and overlaid it with refined gold. Ezekiel tells us what he saw, Ezekiel 1:26 NASB Now above the expanse that was over their heads there was something resembling a throne, like lapis lazuli in appearance; and on that which resembled a throne, high up, was a figure with the appearance of a man. lapis lazuli - Sapphire - Clear heavenly blue. Apparently, the color is insignificant. In 1Kings 10:18 it is clear that this is a great throne, and in Daniel 7:9 Daniel sees the throne as being fiery flames. Although you don't see this happening in Matthew 25, Revelation 20:7-8 tells us that after the thousand years, Satan is released from his prison and he deceives the nations. Those nations, in turn, surround the city of God in an attempt to kill God and His people. Those gathered are killed in an instant. The next event scripture shows us is the gathering of the nations, or, as Matthew 25 puts it, the dead are brought before this great throne. Although my methods of sorting out what I read, and disseminating the false teachings I hear, might be different than what you learn in seminary, they work for me. You also just got the added benefit of some insight into a false teaching that seems to enjoy sending all who approach the throne of judgment, to hell. A serious look at scripture will demonstrate that such a teaching is blatantly false and damaging to our understanding of who God is. iThe Church’s Secret: Biblical Illiteracy in the 21st Century, Hugh Whelchel, writing for the Institute for Faith, Work, and Economics. 23. Many catholics are arrogant enough to say that THEY "gave" us the Bible. The catholic organisation mearly defined what IT would use as the Bible, NOT what the Bible was. Long before the council of hippo "gave us the bible", Origen, born A.D. 185 and died A.D. 254, named ALL the books of the Bible in his writings and Eusebius, 270 A.D., lists ALL of the books of the NT. The Old Testament books were gathered into one volume and were translated from Hebrew into Greek long before Christ came to earth. It cannot be proven that the Catholic Church is solely responsible for the gathering and selection of the New Testament books. In fact, it can be shown that the New Testament books were gathered into one volume and were in circulation long before the Catholic Church claims to have taken its action in 390 at the council of Hippo. God did not give councils the authority to select His sacred books, nor does He expect men to receive His sacred books only because of councils or on the basis of councils. It takes no vote or sanction of a council to make the books of the Bible authoritative. Men were able to rightly discern which books were inspired before the existence of ecclesiastical councils and men can do so today. A council of men in 390 with no divine authority whatever, supposedly took upon itself the right to state which books were inspired, and Catholics argue, "We can accept the Bible only on the authority of the Catholic Church." Can we follow such reasoning?
