  3. We let the Lord take our heart through a process. Just as Peter had to go through a series of events to be ready to be used in an extraordinary way, we realize that God has a process for all of us. What the Lord worked in Peter was a NEW IDENTITY, a dependency upon the Lord so that he would not trust in His own strength. We learn to lean on the strength of God, not taking things into our own hands. WE WALK IN DISCERNMENT BEING AN INFLUENCE FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD Philippians 1:9-11 - "And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God." Keep your discernment. Love and discernment work together. They always do. We do not turn on love and turn off discernment. We do not turn on discernment and turn off love. Rather, we use them both together. True discernment comes from the Holy Spirit Who pours the love of God in our hearts. Jesus comes to bring the cure. That cure can only happen because He sees what is needed. WE KEEP OUR HEART FREE AND WALK IN LOVE Matthew 5:9 - "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God." Be willing to reconcile with others who are embittered against you. Some may be in a bitter place not wanting to reconcile. Just realize you need to be willing to be a peacemaker. Pray that the Lord will tenderize their heart and fill them with the love of God. Bitterness blinds people. He who has a bitter root defiles many because they spread evil reports with gossip. Walk in love and pray that God gives them the gift of repentance. WE GET UNDERSTANDING ON SOWING SEED AND HARVEST TIME 2 Corinthians 9:6,7 - "But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver." Make an effort to understand the power of SOWING and REAPING. Realize that all God has entrusted to us we are the steward of. In that way, all that we have is seed that can be sown into different places. Our time invested in the spiritual development of others, work, money, prayers, worship is all seed that is sown. If we want increase in our life, both in the spirit and in the natural, we need to get the revelation of SEEDTIME and HARVEST. Who doesn't want a HARVEST in their lives? But we have to sow in order to REAP. WE DRINK HIS NEW WINE! Hebrews 1:8,9 - "But to the Son He says: "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your Kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness more than Your companions." We take time to not only seek the Lord, but to receive from the Lord the new wine of His PRESENCE. We allow God to fill us with His joy as the Holy Spirit saturates us. For it is the joy that comes in His PRESENCE that strengthens us. God will give us a fresh anointing as we simply receive in His PRESENCE. Jesus was anointed with the oil of joy far above all others. How much more do we need His oil upon our lives. WE ARE ALL COMMANDED TO DO THE WORK OF MINISTRY John 21:17 - "He said to him the third time, 'Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?' Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, 'Do you love Me?' And he said to Him, 'Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.' Jesus said to him, "Feed My sheep.'" One of the unique things about the Church of the New Covenant is that God has authorized and commanded every believer to do the work of the ministry! God wants an entire army of workers out doing the vital work of DISCIPLESHIP of the saints and building up His Body, the Church. Many churches are so focused on the salvation message that they fail to feed and help mature the sheep who have already come to salvation. Believers should be equipped to DISCIPLE the new believers so they will be effective in personal ministry. "My children with who I am again in labor until Christ is formed in you.." - Galatians 4:19 The true success of our ministry to others will be by how it brought forth the formation of Christ within the person God has given us to DISCIPLE. 13. This question points to the possibility that a person’s faith in Christ, can be “dead”! Now I know, the first Scripture that comes to mind with this statement is James 2:17... “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.”(Talking about how our “faith in Christ”, is only proven to “others”, by our good works.) The point in James’ epistle is a message to believers, to take a stand for the Lord....“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” (James 1:22) But the point being made in this thread, is the serious possibility, that our faith in Christ, is not a living faith; As the Lord talked about in...... Matthew 7:21-23......... V.21 ¶ Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. V.22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? V.23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. It’s not that “Salvation” is “hard to find or to get”: It’s just that, according to the Bible, there are a lot of “professing Christians”, who are not truly saved. Each of us, need to have the courage to honestly question ourselves, about the genuineness of our “salvation experience”; Like this....2 Corinthians 13:5 “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?” No one is saved by being religious or gaining religious knowledge.... “For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.” (1 Corinthians 1:21) Biblical Salvation, is a supernatural event, that changes a person on the inside. And at the moment of that change, the Lord starts a gradual transformation of that person, that will continue the rest of their lives. ------------------------ I am aware that this might cause some Christians to doubt their salvation: There is nothing wrong with that(as long as it causes you to make sure your saved). God doesn’t want us to “doubt our salvation”, but it is important for us to “make sure” of it.
  14. I was in the chat room and a discussion came up, for clarity and to avoid any form of argument i was advised to bring it here... Are we sinners? Should a Christian still call himself a sinner? Are we righteous? My Opinion: Yes, we're not perfect, and yes we have no righteousness of our own... but if after the death of our lord, and after we accept him as Lord and Savior we still remain sinners... what then is the point of His death? My illustration is this, we all go to the bank, and perform normal customer transactions... but none of us will claim to be a banker except we actually work in a bank... to me, the same applies to this issue... We might one time or another fall into iniquity, when we do... we recognize our fault and repent... and turn to our father for forgiveness. My tentative conclusion is this (tentative because i am very open to corrections)... As believers, we WERE sinners, but now, we ARE not sinners... I will really like to get your view on this, thank you.
  15. I've been Studying the difference between the Gospel of salvation vs the Gospel of the Kingdom in scripture. It started actually from a post here at worthy, but I don't remember who posted it or what thread the post was in ( I want to say Retrobyter But I'm not sure). The more I actually read the bible on this the more I am convinced that they are not the same thing. The gospel that most churches teach ( at least where I am from ) that I have been exposed to is Incomplete by teaching the Gospel of salvation. The Gospel of the kingdom is what Jesus, Jesus' 12 disciples, and Paul all taught. My question to you all is, Do you read and understand a difference between these 2? If not, How do you read and understand them? If you do read a difference, then what differences do you see? Thank you Firestormx P.S. I hope to start a conversation with this but I'm not sure how much time I'll have to contribute to this thread. I will try to check in as much as I can.
  16. The Blessed Hope - What is it? First off, it is located in Titus 2:13: 11For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, 12instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and Godly in this present age, 13looking forward to that blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, 14who gave Himself for us, to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good works. No real definition is provided in the above passage, and nothing tells us what it is not either. One thing we do know, is that is is something to look forward to. Some people think this is a reference to the rapture, that catching up of believers, referred to by Paul in 1 Thess 4: 13But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. 14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. 15For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. 18Therefore comfort one another with these words. Interesting. Paul here mentions in verse 13, that there are some who have no hope, I never noticed that as a contrast to a blessed hope before - just an observation. Back to my original thought: If this catching up (or rapture as it is sometimes called) is a pre-tribulation event, then it would indeed be a blessed hope (at least for those who will be around near the end), because if would be a meeting with our savior, and an escape from a horrible time that is about to take place. I am wondering though, what in Titus 2, indicates that this is what is being spoken of? Well, to be honest, I am not wondering that exactly, because the answer to my question is "NOTHING". Nothing there indicates that it is a pre-trib rapture. Some take it upon themselves to go beyond the word of God and just define the blessed hope as the pre-trib rapture. I have the hope, one day, that I will meet my savior, face to face, and enter into His rest. I have the hope, that I will be delivered from His wrath He intends to appliy to the ungodly, that I deserve because of my rebellions, my sins. My hope is based upon the promise that rather than endure torment, I will join Him in Heaven, because by His grace alone, I will have been brought there. So anyway, take a look at Titus 2:13 in it's context, and see if you think that the context indicates that the blessed hope is a pre-trib rapture, or is it possible something else? Personally I have a blessed hope, not unlike this idea, in that I am looking forward to the blessed hope of salvation (Titus 2:11) and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, mentioned in Titus 2:13 and described in Matt 24:29 and 30 where we are told that after the tribulation and they will see the Son of man coming on the clouds with great glory. So, what are your thoughts. Do you think that Titus 2 tells us that the blessed hope is a pre-trib rapture? Why or why not?
