  1. Oh dear. The cost of posting a letter in NZ has just increased because the use of postal services is declining at a "significant rate". One of many things that being in the future requires us to adapt to. Quote: NZPOST Changes From July 1st 2019 Why did New Zealand Post increase prices? The price of sending a standard letter within New Zealand increased by 10 cents to $1.30 on 1 July 2019, to better reflect the true cost of sending a letter. NZ Post delivers over 400 million mail items a year, but the number of letters sent continues to drop at a significant rate. We’re working hard to keep the cost of posting mail as low as possible, by significantly reducing our network costs and making big changes to how we operate. How did the letter price affect KiwiStamps? Existing KiwiStamps retained their value. You can use any KiwiStamps you have already purchased for Standard Mail after 1 July 2019, without paying any more postage. New packs of KiwiStamps purchased from 1 July 2019 reflects the new pricing. Why did NZ Post increase the price to send a letter or parcel overseas? Letter volumes around the world are declining, while the cost to process and deliver mail continues to rise. We have worked hard to keep prices as low as possible, however we need to increase the price from time to time. It has actually become difficult to find an actual post box when the need to actually post a letter arises. These red NZPost boxes used to be numerous and handy but they have been slowly disppearing and we have the strange situation now that when we post a letter in Hamilton for an address in Hamilton it actually gets taken 123kms (77miles) north to Auckland for sorting before being delivered back to its destination in Hamilton. This can take up to ten days now that all Hamilton's mail sorting centres have been closed down to reduce overheads. We do have some privately owned postal providers in NZ but they are more expensive than the state provider: The State-Owned Enterprises Act 1986 required New Zealand Post to operate as a successful business and to be: as profitable and efficient as comparable businesses not owned by the Crown a good employer an organisation that exhibits a sense of social responsibility by having regard to the interests of the community in which it operates and by endeavouring to accommodate or encourage these when it is able to do so. The Act also spelled out the broad nature of the Crown’s ownership of the company, defining the role of directors and outlining the responsibilities of shareholding Ministers. The reporting requirements for SOEs are also outlined in the Act. The Act creates an arms-length relationship by distancing management tasks from political control. Under the Act, the Government must fund any non-commercial activities that the Government wants carried out. The decline of the postal system is not actually a big problem for me personally as I don't post many letters now, doing most of my invoicing by email, but it is one of the small things that add up to a major changing of ways in a person's lifetime.
  2. Little help please, Who can teach me how to change my name to something new? Thanks, Mr. X
  3. Prayer Time Travel - The Holy Bible records time. The Bible has a beginning to end, Genesis to Revelation. God is outside time. He has no beginning or end. We have a beginning with no end. We start in time, then escape it, get outside it with no end. Many prayers are throughout the Holy Bible affecting past, present and future, from whoever's perspective. Jesus Christ is! God is the great "I am," not was nor will be. Jesus prays for all believers. 20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. - John 17:20-21 New International Version (NIV) Revelation in the Bible affects the past to us now and beyond to the beginning of time, Genesis. A prayer in my future affects me and my now and even my past. My prayer now about my past affects my future. I am affected by my past, present and future, now. I am not an isolated silo. We cause ripple effects, everything affects everything, everything matters. Christ's life giving water is thee all encompassing most important matter. I lost my wallet. I decided not to fear or worry. I accepted it and let it go. Eventually I decided to pray about it, relatively long after the fact. Later, a policeman called for me to come get it from him. It had been been discovered moments after I lost it and immediately turned in. A beat cop had happened to be there. The officer had been swamped with work, so had notified and met with me a week later, having been so busy. That was my time traveling prayer eureka moment. At the time, my prayer was only to help process, comfort and put the whole matter in God's hands, whatever His will. I was happy with it and had left it at that. Yay and hallelujah, yet another reason for prayer! Now I realized and believed my prayer had actually traveled back in time. God's reach and power is anywhere anytime. He answered my prayer by changing my past, my reality and my future. What was lost was now found in time. December 18, 2016, I prayed a short, simple to the point prayer. I met and surrendered to Jesus Christ as my Saviour and Lord. What I prayed then and there took effect in the past on the cross at Calvary. Jesus Christ was sacrificed for me and my sin debt. That past was affected by prayer in its future. That present took effect in the past and affected the future until the end of time. Then, now and then, I pray in Jesus Christ's name, amen. 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. - John 1:1-2 New International Version (NIV)
  4. I am "the reprobate guy". But after reading some of your encouraging comments yesterday, I am going to try and force myself to believe I'm not reprobate. I have decided I am going to start praying 3 times a day, morning, middle, and evening, along with reading the Bible. Do you guys have any other advice? Or just a general word on salvation? Thank you so much
  5. Isaiah 11:6 Remember "and the lion shall lie down with the Lamb?" It has changed to "and the wolf will dwell with the lamb." The lion isn't with the lamb anymore.
  6. This is just part of my story. At 20 years old I believed I had life figured out. I knew how to put cash into my pocket and a roof over my head. I was able to do what I wanted whenever and wherever I wished. There was nothing I wanted from church, so in my mind, I didn’t need it. Same with God. I determined to think positive, work hard and keep moving forward with my ultimate goals always in mind. The formula was simple: get cash in whatever way possible, and keep it coming. Why would I need God? I had science. I knew why the sky was blue and the sun came up every morning. I didn't need to read a book that was thousands of years old and had no relevance to my modern life. If you were to ask me how the world was created, I would have said the big bang. If you asked me what caused the big bang, I would have answered, “It just happened.” That was my limited way of thinking because my world was so small. I had become a criminal at a young age. Organized crime is not just about committing crimes, it is a way of life that takes over. Everyone in the life looks at every situation through tinted glass: how can we benefit on a large scale. Everyone around me did the same. I cut my hair, shaved and dressed like I was told. Every person I was around was part of the life, or I didn’t consider them a friend. I wanted to expand and become more successful which means I wanted more cash each week. I asked my capo, Jimmy, to put me with Mark - an older gambler who ran a sports book. In other words, Mark was a bookie. I had sold parlay cards and other sports gambling products so I knew the world. Mark showed me how to set up my book and balance it. I learned the lingo and the kind of bets gamblers would place. The next year I was ready to go out on my own. My first year I did well because I had older guys like Mark helping me along. The next year I did even better and I expanded. Everyone gambles and it does not hurt anyone - this is what I told myself over and over again. This was a big lie because a person who is addicted to gambling will do anything to feel the thrill. Even when faced with ruin, these people kept gambling. I soon swallowed up smaller bookies and they began working for me. The money came easily because I was the house and the house always makes 10% on any bet. I used the extra cash to loan out and gain more cash through loans. Gambling is unlike any other business because you are not out any real product, only figures on a sheet of paper. After twelve years I couldn’t stand my life at all. I wanted out of the life, but I was not willing to go through the uncomfortable period it would take to change. The criminal's dream is to find something that will bring in the same amount of cash that they are making except the profit becomes legal. Until I realized that my way of thinking was broken and had to change, I would go no place fast. It wasn’t until my dream became getting out of the life altogether, profit or not, that I would find the answer. God’s timing is perfect, but I didn’t know that at the time. The FBI offered me a chance at a fresh start, and that was the turning point. I spent the next 8 years trying to undo what I spent my life before doing. While I was still a part of the criminal world for the next eight years, I was no longer there as a criminal but as an informant for the FBI. God gave me a fresh start, but it took me almost another ten years of trying to start over on my own before I turned to Him. The challenge for me was to let God guide me instead of trying to find my own way. It is a process that I am still going through and will be going through for the rest of my life. I know that everything I encounter is part of His plan, and I have to surrender my plans to His. When I look back at my life, I see a lot of mistakes. I also see God's hand at work. Success, I have learned, is all relative to what you consider successful. The things our world considers success we learn in the Bible are very different from what early Christians, like Paul, considered most valuable - knowing Christ as our savior. Philippians 3:7-14 (NIV) 7 But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8 What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in[a] Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. I have learned some very hard lessons and all that I have learned about true success has helped me in two ways. The hard work and positive thinking is still a part of my life. I learned that I cannot be successful with doing what I feel is right, true success comes from knowing we are flawed and Christ bridged the gap between our flaws and God, offering himself as a sacrifice. All the success you think you have or aim for will never be enough until you ask God into your life and make knowing and serving Him your definition of success.
  7. THE POWER OF YOUR MIND Success and failure are products of thoughts. It matters what your thoughts are. God has given us a special instrument to help us appropriate and come to the full possession of the blessings of God. That's our mind. Your mind is unlimited in its potentials to create whatever you desire. When you put your mind power to work, the possibilities are endless. What you become in life is largely determined by the content and the quality of your mind, because with your mind you can change anything about you. The content and character of your mind must be rich enough to pull toward you what you want . The way to transform, improve and upgrade your life is by renewing your mind. Who you are today is a function of your mind. Your personality is the expression of the contents and working of your mind. Proverbs 23vs7 If you don't learn how to process your thoughts and mind the rich deposits of your inward man, you'll get nothing from it and it reflects in the quality of your life. You are not better than your thoughts. You are your thoughts. If your thoughts are better this , you would have been better than where you are. You wouldn't have been where you are right now. In other words , your present status is a product of your thoughts. You created you present status . To be successful in life is not a matter of I couldn't but it's a case of I wouldn't. It's a choice. Romans 12:2. Your mind will influence your emotions. Your real character is not formed by your spirit but your mind. Consciously disallow negative thoughts. Don't accommodate negative thoughts Your life will always go in the direction of your thoughts. You can't be different from your thoughts. Channel your thoughts the way God wants you to go.Using your mind right is your ticket to the next and higher level you desire. 8. When you discover that you have a strong desire for change, then God is at your door. The strong desire is the response of the human soul to God, as He knocks on the door of your heart. There’s something about the human soul; when your soul cries out in a strong desire, God immediately responds to it. God said, ‘before you call I’ll be there, before you ask, I’ll answer you’ (Isaiah 65:24). What do you do with your desire? Let’s learn from David. David had an excellent reputation of seeking God’s Presence. God called him a man after His own heart (1 Samuel 13:14). “O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.” (Psalms 63:1-2) David said, ‘I have a strong desire within me to see your power, Oh God!’ He didn’t hunger and thirst for food and drink; he thirsted and hungered to see the power of God. If you don’t follow his writing carefully, you may erroneously think he just woke up one morning with this desire without doing anything, that is, without any effort on his own part. The secret of this longing and desire for God is in verse 6 of the same chapter, where he says,“When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.” (Psalm 63:6) Can you see that? Even when he went to bed, he didn’t forget about God. He thought about Him all day and night, meditating on His Word. This wasn’t an accidental thought. No! It was a conscious thought and must have required some effort on his part. He deliberately and consciously nursed his desire for God! You can either nurse to increase your desire, or quench your desire. When that strong desire comes to your heart, nurse it, nourish it, and don’t let anything take it away from you. Let it grow stronger and stronger. You’ll also discover that when you have a strong desire for something, more information will come to you about that thing. Then you’ll look up to God for answers. If you have a strong desire, let it work in you, don’t push it away.
  9. kwikphilly Royal Member Blessings Brothers & Sisters,,,,,, I heard a "delicious" sermon this morning & I thought I would share this with all of you,,,,,,a tasty snack of Peace,Joy & Wisdom If anyone has ever heard David Jeremiah then just imagine his gentle, peaceful & gracious tone with this encouraging message. So many times we hear about the "evidence" of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit & yet more often we hear verses of Scripoture being taken out of context ,leaving the "hearer" wondering if they are truly Saved We are Saved by the Grace of God,we are "Born Again" into His Righteousness by our Faith It is because of what HE has done,Jesus Finished Work on the Cross,,,,,so where is the 'evidence"?Is it "speaking in tongues"?Is it our works? Is it the Gifts of the Spirit? The Fruits? How do we know we are "Born Again"? Many people will tell you a date they were Saved, without a shadow of doubt they will say"On such & such date I was Born Again" and some (like myself) cannot remember the date but of course I know there was a day I asked Jesus to come into my heart & Save me,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,that is all we need to know, there was a time that Jesus came to live in us,we were indwelled with His Holy Spirit. There are folks that remember the date very well & on that date they cast away their drugs, alcohol, cigarettes & everything else that they were bound by & they simply will never forget. That is not usually how it works & so, many New Believers question the day they came to the Foot of the Cross,,,,,,"Am I Born Again?" David Jeremiah said there are 5 birthmarks of Salvation, how you know that you are Saved or you know that someone else has Jesus Living in them. The first is easy,it is the birthmark of CONFESSION,,,,,You BELIEVE that Jesus is the Son of God,the Savior of the world You BELIEVE & have asked His forgiveness of your sins,,,,,that is the Confession of FAITH It is a decision,"Lord Jesus,be my Savior (see also John 3:16,1 John 4:1-3 and John 3:36) It is nothing that "I" did,it is because "He" did it ALL The second is the birthmark of CHANGE As I mentioned earlier, some folks experience an immediate transformation, they threw their cigarettes away, stopped swearing,no more drugs,,,,,,,but it does not always happen instantaneously & that is okay because a change does take place that day,Jesus came to live inside of you and it happens from the inside out,we become a New Creature,,,the Holy Spirit is within us The 3rd is the birthmark of COMPASSION Being Born of God is having Gods DNA,the old sinful nature has passed away(the old man) & it is who you love, you love God,love one another,,,,,,you are now Gods Family & you want to be with other Christians, children of God And isn't it True, when we meet a Brother or Sister in Christ there is an instant Bond,we know we are Family such a Joy,Praise Jesus! The 4th is the birthmark of CONFLICT,,,,,, You've heard many times that we are in the world but not "of" the world, being Born Again we take on the foes of the world but as overcomers,Victors Everything that is not of God conflicts with our New Nature, the UnBelievers can see that we are different,we know it too Finally,we have the 5th,,,,this is the birthmark of CONDUCT,,,, Does this mean we will never again sin? No it does not ,what it does mean is that we can no longer live in willful rebellion,,,,,if anyone does continually sin & violate Gods Laws with the attitude of "Well I live in Grace & am not under the Law so I will do what I want" they are deceiving themselves & are not Saved Gods children live in Gods Grace & are Forgiven ,you don't reach a "sin limit" or have a quota-lol It does not mean you will never again sin, trip & fall,,,,it simply means that you will be convicted and will not KEEP sinning God Seed in you,the Holy Spirit will not allow sin You will not want to sin because you love God I'm sure I did not say exactly what Dr Jeremiah said but I'm am sure you all got the jist of it,I could not remember all the lovely Scriptures he referred to ,I should have written them all down-lol What I liked about the 5 birthmarks is that all the Scriptures do say "Born of God",,,,,,,I only hope to encourage someone who has any doubts about being Saved,,,,,,,there is nothing that "we do",nothing that we "do not do",,,,,,we are TRANSFORMED into into New Creatures in Christ Jesus ,a continual work in progress as we walk with jesus....know that you know what you know, you are His,bought & paid for "in Full",,,,,,,,His Grace never expires,His Love is Unconditional and He Forgave you, past, present & future,,,,,,a change took place the very moment you said"Please forgive me Jesus,I need you to be my Lord & Savior" now just Let go & let God All Glory ,Praise & Honor to our Precious Lord Almighty,JESUS! 11. I had a dream last night in which an angel appeared and told me "They are confused. Use your prose to unite them." When I awoke I thought deeply about this and realized what he's saying. There exists so much confusion today on the meaning of the bible (Catholic, Mormon, Jehavohs Witness, Seven Day Adventists, etc.. all interpret the scriptures differently). I would probably make changes to a few verses so it would be more clear, my first choice... The Lord is speaking to Abraham in this story where God commands him to sacrifice his son: ‘Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt-offering on one of the mountains that I shall show you.’ (Genesis 22:2) This reminds me of the final scene in the Omen (1976) where the father stabs his son on the alter. Even if God intervens at the last minute, don't you think that child is going to be scarred emotionally for the rest of his life? I know if my dad tried to kill me and then stopped at the last minute tellng me God changed his mind I'd run far away in case it ever happens again. Second choice... In this verse, Samuel, one of the early leaders of Israel, orders genocide against a neighbouring people: “This is what the Lord Almighty says... ‘Now go and strike Amalek and devote to destruction all that they have. Do not spare them, but kill both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.’” (1 Samuel 15:3) This goes back to my early questions about why women and children had to die in Daniel 16:24. Why kill all the innocents too? I would make it clear in the rewriting that slavery is wrong, killing gay people is wrong, and adjust other things so that they can't be taken out of context. Any book that has been transcribed over and over through 2000 years something may get lost (even the meanings of word has changed since then) so I believe the angel had a good point. If you could pick just one or two scriptures (old or new testement) in the bible and change it, which would you choose?
  12. If you live in the U.S. Please consider voting today as we just have. Thanks, your vote matters! From the CP article, underlining emphasis mine: “Republicans are poised to pick up seats and could win control of the United States Senate on Tuesday in midterm elections heavily influenced by deep voter dissatisfaction with U.S. President Barack Obama's job performance. “From abortion to racial justice, Christians prompted by churches and a host of faith-based advocacy organizations to exercise their right to vote and help shape America's culture and future, are expected to flood the polls in the name of Jesus and a long list of other causes Tuesday.” “We wanted to encourage our people to register to vote and to vote. We believe that voting is a Christian responsibility in the government that we live in. We are the government.” “As Christians, we have an obligation to be involved in our culture and voting is an extension of our values. If we believe in the sanctity of life we can't appoint an agent that opposes the values that we believe. … Silence is not an option, voting is a responsibility we want to make" “We encourage people to vote their biblical values. We don't tell them who to vote for. We encourage them to match their biblical values with the candidate's position. For tomorrow (Tuesday) we are looking forward to a good voter turnout. I think our constituents really believe that America is on a lost track and in dire straits," said Staver...” “Many Christians have been duped into accepting a false idea: that there is a "neutral" position they can take in regard to social issues. Some Christians even accept the myth that the U.S. Constitution declares that there should be a separation of church and state, and, thus, they don't want their Christian beliefs to influence politics. ” ~Ken Ham
  13. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1021048/Female-Schindler-Irena-Sendler-saved-2-500-Jewish-children-died-aged-98.html I think it's important to take a moment to honor people who have made an impact on the world. Especially, those who've gone unnoticed for as long as She did. I've had many classes about the Holocaust. Not once, did I hear of Irene Sendler. You hear of Schindler and his famous List. But never her. She saved at least 2500 Jewish Children. The Nazis tortured her for this but she still lived. She despises the word heroism because she felt like some how there was more she could have done. And the paragraph at the end is super important if you do not read the article, read this part: "A few months before she died, she said: "After World War II, it seemed that humanity understood something, and nothing like that would happen again. Humanity has understood nothing. Religious, tribal, national wars continue. The world continues to be in a sea of blood." But she added: "The world can be better if there's love, tolerance and humility." I just want to ask you all, as Christians, to check yourselves today. Are you showing love, tolerance, humility? Honestly, how do you treat people who have different opinions than you? A different ethnicity than you? Who don't agree with your set of beliefs? People who may not care about God, or maybe they do but they certainly don't claim to have all the answers? Different religions? Do you judge them? Accuse them of things? Are you hateful and not even aware of it? Are you being like Jesus? I think Jesus would be full of love, tolerance and humility. I don't see a lot of that from Christians in my area, at the churches I've attended, and even sometimes, here. We can change the world with love. Isn't that what Jesus did? When it all boils down to it, Jesus didn't only change the world because of His love, he changed the world itself; the entire world was made different from His love. I just wonder what kind of changes we are making. Are they going to be positive ones, or negative ones. Are we helping to add to that Sea of Blood, Sendler mentioned?
