We as Christian should be concerned about who attends a Christian fellowship, and more importantly who takes on the roles of elders, leaders, advisors, etc., in a Christian Fellowship Let's start off with the following given premise: -Nation of Ancient Israel ---could be viewed as-----a modern day church congregation In the 2 Samuel 13:2-5 bible passage, we as Christian could view Amnon & Jonadab engaging in fellowship with each other as members of the Ancient Israelite Hebrew congregation. To put it in a modern perspective, it's like 2 Christians engaging in fellowship with each other regardless of whether they are in a cell group, bible study group or if they just are having 1-to-1 fellowship together at a cafe. However, Jonadab's advice to Amnon that involves giving into Amnon's fleshly desires for his Tamar is scary. More importantly, it should be a severe warning to us Christians about being concerned & cautious about who attends a Chrisitan Fellowship, and maybe even more importantly who is taking on the roles of elders or leaders in our Christian fellowship. Christian leadership ( especially Church leadership) need to be firmly guided by The Holy Spirit when they appoint church elders, leaders, advisors etc.

Church leaders and theological and seminary training
firestormx posted a topic in General Discussion
Do you think leaders in the church ( Pastors, Apostles, Prophets, Elders, Bishops and Deacons ) should be required to get college training in theology? I saw this brought up in another thread. I was wondering how other believers felt about this. Should it be a requirement? If you don't believe that Apostles or Prophets are for today that's fine. I'm not looking to debate that here, please just ignore those 2. Just curious how other Christians are wanting their Church leadership qualified . Can God qualify someone on his own without college training in theology? Is there a concern that college training in theology is just getting the doctrine of men and/or the approval of man? God bless Firestormx- 68 replies

From the KJV: 8 Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. 9 And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, 10 And have made [d]us kings[e] and priests to our God; And [f]we shall reign on the earth.” Now notice the phrases with "us" in the RSV “Worthy art thou to take the scroll and to open its seals, for thou wast slain and by thy blood didst ransom men for God from every tribe and tongue and people and nation, 10 and hast made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on earth.” Which of these is probably most accurate to the original? Before you answer, notice that in the KJV, The 4 living creatures are included in the "us." That really does not make sense. In the making of the Received Text (Textus Receptus), Erasmus had only one text to work from for the Book of Revelation, and it was not a Byzantine text as all the rest of the New Testament was. He had many Byzantine texts for the rest of the New Testament. It would seem then that at least for the book of Revelation, perhaps the KJV is not the most accurate text.
