This is a truly heartwarming hymn of encouragement. First, a little bit of background on why this was chosen to be submitted to the forums. I've always been a fan of the folk rock group, The Byrds. Their warm vocal harmonies and jangling guitars were an immediate draw to those who admired the style. The first hit song they came out with was a tune from Bob Dylan called, Mr. Tambourine Man. It became an instant success. Following was the equally popular, Turn, Turn, Turn written by Pete Seeger and was taken from Ecclesiastes III. It also was a great song one could not easily forget. Later on their sound took a turn towards country folk stylings. And at times searching the very heart of the sound itself. It has been said leader Roger McGuinn became a born again Christian through friendships with Barry McGuire and also Jennifer Warnes. She also came into the country genre. Here are The Byrds ~ Farther Along. I hope it blesses you as it has me. Thanks for listening. This is bluegrass music.

Hebrews 12:2 "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." Marilyn C posted that 'Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus' is one of her favorite hymns. I feel the same way. So I decided to print the lyrics to it below. Written by Helen H. Lemmel in 1922 Subjects: Exhortation,Encouragement Just wondering, How many of you have sung this hymn? Any personal stories to share on what it has meant to you? For me, it has helped to redirect my eyes away from my sad thoughts to the Lord Himself and to lose myself in Him. My childhood pastor had us sing this one quite a bit during worship. Precious memories...how they linger. verse 1 O soul, are you weary and troubled? No light in the darkness you see? There’s light for a look at the Savior, And life more abundant and free! Refrain: Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His wonderful face, And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, In the light of His glory and grace. verse 2 Through death into life everlasting He passed, and we follow Him there; O’er us sin no more hath dominion— For more than conqu’rors we are! verse 3 His Word shall not fail you—He promised; Believe Him, and all will be well: Then go to a world that is dying, His perfect salvation to tell!
