  1. Thoughts For Day 2 *Luke 6:10-11 After looking around at them all, He said to him, “Stretch out your hand!” And he did so; and his hand was restored. But they themselves were filled with rage, and discussed together what they might do to Jesus. I think what caused the Pharisees to be filled w/rage was that they had pride which caused jealousy, and fear which caused them to want to harm Jesus. I also think this is a good life lesson for us to want good for others, and not to find fault in them. *Luke 6:19 And all the people were trying to touch Him, (Jesus) for power was coming from Him and healing them all. If you are sick, you would do almost anything to be healed, to make your sickness go away. I would imagine people were pushing in line, and crowding others to touch Jesus for healing. I also think it's amazing that literal healing power was radiating out of Him. Just to be in His physical presence, in His shadow would be a gift in and of itself to see the miracles! But how much more powerful to experience that kind of physical healing this side of heaven yourself! Another interesting thing is that He passed this power onto the apostles as part of the establishment of the church. My God never ceases to amaze me! *Genesis 3:12-13 12 The man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me from the tree, and I ate.” Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” And the woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” Playing the blame game – even when we blame others, if we choose to follow their leading making a poor choice, we're still accountable. Sometimes the consequences can be very severe, but God forgives! *Genesis 3: 21 The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them. The first fur coat. I've heard some say fig leaves, but it says skin here, which would have to be of an animal (s). The important thing is that God always provides!
  2. What is the Jewish people to be jealous of enough to make them want Christ? I'm referring to Romans 11:11 I say then, have they stumbled that they should fall? Certainly not! But through their fall, to provoke them to jealousy, salvation has come to the Gentiles. Is it what we have in Christ? Is it the New Covenant? Could be the fact that they will "left behind" It is difficult to see considering the current state of the church being largely apostate... (my opinion). Thank you in advance for those who contribute, The Old Lion
  3. Hi! I just hope someone could enlighten me with some christian advice that would help me get through with this. Its me finding it hard how to deal with my emotions everytime my husband gets to hang out with his friends, though he goes out very seldom just during reunions in his school-day friends & classmates. Our relationship is great no doubt we love each other have all the time for each other and grows better everytime. I just notice for three years of marriage I don’t know why it felt uncomfortable whenever he spend his time with them and enjoy their company. I admit, I’m a stay-at-home mom, an aloof type who doesn’t go out with friends always unlike him, being a leader on his school-day pals & is a friend to everybody. It felt bad like I’m ruining his social life. On the other hand I feel like I’m no part of it whenever he goes home and doesn’t share to me what had happened. Its like I’m missing a piece of his life that I don’t know about. I have no problem with our common circle of friends. He even spent all of his time to us his son everyday. However, I can’t deny the fact that it makes me uncomfortable when me and my son left out at home while he takes time with others and asking me to extend few more hours with them. The other thing is that one of his college friends is his ex’s but they’re good friends now but regardless, I feel the same way with his other friends. Do I make myself selfish? I’ve been honest with him with this situation, we did talked and Ive tried to embrace this situation and get along with it but the moment he can’t limit his time it pisses me off and makes me feel less-priority. Its kinda unhealthy for our marriage and I need some fixin’.. Thanks. What are your thoughts? What were your experiences? Am I not alone?
  4. Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage. - Philippians 2:6 When we are looking to progress in our understanding of the Lord we must look to the heart and what dwells within. Of all the least talked about sins in our day, Envy is near the top of the list. Perhaps one of the greatest roots of envy is the jealously that God is God and we are not. Such evil desires that desires more then what is given or deserved becomes a distortion of love and therefore is the opposite of love. Thomas Aquinas says of Envy: "Envy according to the aspect of its object is contrary to charity, whence the soul derives its spiritual life. Charity rejoices in our neighbor's good, while envy grieves over it." Envy is as old as Adam and Eve. Their firstborn son Cain envied Abel and killed him over extreme jealously. Cain envied Abel because God favored Abel's sacrifice over Cain's. Envy defiles a person and makes them hideous always seeking to put down others that they may be exalted. Of course this is not how it looks on the outside, it can even appear holy but inwardly the desires are evil. Saul envied David (1 Samuel 18:5-9). Isaac, envied the Philistines (Genesis 26:12-16). Envy cannot dwell with true godliness but with only that which is false, unspiritual and demonic (James 3:13-16). John R. Stott says, "Envy! Envy is the reverse side of a coin called vanity. Nobody is ever envious of others who is not first proud of himself." We can envy one's wealth, position, fame, title, honour, health, possessions and many other things. Only Christ who was the one that walked in true humility and did not even count his status as the Son of God important, but humbled himself to death and did not envy but died and emptied himself. In God's kingdom when we empty ourselves we are filled, when we die we live, when we humble ourselves we are exalted. When we envy we destroy ourselves. The holy Apostle Peter tells us to "put away envy" (1 Peter 2:1). Strike it away from yourself, be violent with such evil desires that arise in you. Have a remedy also for this poison of the heart. When someone is exalted rejoice! When you are lowered rejoice. Never desire anothers exaltation but rejoice that they have been blessed of God and praise God for such a thing. Be content with the gifts God has given you, the Heavenly Father is wise and all-knowing in what He has entrusted you with. Sadly when we envy we follow the error also of satan who envied the very throne of God but was cast down in judgment. Let our dying to envy show the evil one and all demons that we are of those who obey Jesus and are washed in the blood of the Lamb. Amen.
  5. Love is the greatest commandment. The cure for jealousy is divine love. Does this make jealousy the greatest sin? Note: the results of jealousy are; theft, hatred, anger, malice, and ultimately murder. You can see how jealousy led Cain to kill his brother, Abel. Genesis 4: 4-8 *** Removed link to personal blog.
