  1. Death's still alive? Live literal. Know yes; no doubt, Christ is all out. For Word for now Was, is, will vow Rev up from Gen: Believe God again! 73GKJB19 Psalm 119:160 Amplified Bible (AMP) 160 The sum of Your word is truth [the full meaning of all Your precepts], And every one of Your righteous ordinances endures forever. Psalm 119:160 Living Bible (TLB) 160 There is utter truth in all your laws; your decrees are eternal. Psalm 119:160 King James Version (KJV) 160 Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.
  2. Two Christians after many years of suffering behind bars, have found lawyers willing to fight for their freedom regardless of the controversial situation they are in. Pray that these attorneys be used by God for miraculous release which will glorify God. Pray these attorneys lack nothing to Succeed and for God to be able to lead them to his plan. Amen.
  3. Are they much more than what appears to be, well lets see what they cover. "27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: 28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart." Matthew 5:27-28. The Jews were astonished and amazed at the words of Jesus, He was saying not only to obey in actions, but also in your heart and mind was part of keeping the Ten Commandments. The law was not exclusively for the benefit of the Jews, but for Gods creation. God honored them by making them the guardians and keepers of His law, but it was to be held as a sacred custody or trust for the whole world. The precepts of the Ten Commandments are adapted to all of us, and they were given for the instruction and government of all. The Ten Commandments cover the duty of man to God and to his fellow man; and all based upon the fundamental principle of love. “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself.” Luke 10:27. The commandment “Thou shalt have no other gods before Me”, lays out that God is alone entitled to supreme reverence and worship. Man is forbidden to give to any other object the first place in his affections or his service. The commandment “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them” forbids the worship of God by images or similitudes. Many claim that their images are mere figures or symbols by which the Lord God was worshiped, but God has declared such worship to be sin. It is connected to the next commandment, “Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me. And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.” But now it lays out the suffering from the consequences of the parents wrongdoing, but they are not punished for the parents’ guilt, except as they participate in their sins. However we see how today, children walk in the steps of their parents. Thus by inheritance and example the sons are transmitted the iniquity and become partakers of the father’s sin. The commandment, “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain: for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh His name in vain”, prohibits not only false oaths that men may use to trick other men, but it forbids us to use the name of God in a light or careless manner, without regard to its great significance. Now here is the commandment that many have forgotten, “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work: but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it” or disregard altogether. The Sabbath is not introduced as a new institution of worship but as having been founded at creation, so it is to be remembered and observed as the memorial of the Creator’s work. This commandment, “Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee”, seems to be one of the easiest ones and yet we see today people breaking almost in every form. God basically sets forth that children not only to give respect, submission, and obedience to their parents, but also to give them love and tenderness, to lighten their cares, to guard their reputation, and comfort them in old age. The commandment, “Thou shalt not kill”, is not just not to murder, but covers the spirit of hatred and revenge, or the indulgence of any passion that leads to hateful acts toward others, or causes us even to wish them harm. The commandment “Thou shalt not commit adultery” forbids not only acts of impurity, but sensual thoughts and desires, or any practice that tends to excite them. The commandment, “Thou shalt not steal” is not only that known in public but private sins are included in this prohibition. It demands strict integrity in all aspects such as trade, debts or wages. The commandment, "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor", protects us all against the commitment of false accusations or unjust lawsuits. The last commandment, "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ***, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's", is one of the most prevalent sins today as we see almost anything possible advertised with the intent to make us covet and desire, things we may not even need, and many fall into sin just to acquire them. The Ten Commandments are much more comprehensive than one might think....
  4. Saint, If you've been invested, over time, on any Christian Forum, then you have come to the realization, that about 30% of the people who use a Christian Forum are sincere, and sincerely interested in learning more, growing more, and want to use a Christian Forum, for these reasons. But then, you have the other 70% who live on these forums, with no desire to learn, but only a desire to fight, create chaos, and if possible, create confusion within someone else's belief system, regarding their Salvation. And the worst of these offenders, are Legalists. And you need to protect yourself from their poisonous heretical bible twisting mania, as it can infect you, and truly harm your walk with the Lord , and more. Lets get to it. So,... Your New Testament explains that you are to "Discern", .. And this is related to life situations, personal desire, purpose in life, but it also means you are to do it with other people and certainly with other Christians. The scripture that supports this is : 1 Corinthians 2:15. Saint, being able to discern will keep you safe in life, and will keep you from being led into dark theology that many on a Christian forum would have you believe, to your hurt. Now, how do you discern if a person is a Legalist? Well, here are the classic signs..... First, this heretic will live and obsess on the Old Testament, and also on only 3 books in the new Testament. 1. Hebrews Chapters 4...6....10. 2. James 3. Matthew Next, this heretic will try to convince you that you can Lose your Salvation. They will be found on a Christian forum, or anywhere, trying to do this to other believers. They will start Threads, they will endlessly rant and post, always using the Old Testament, James, Hebrews, and Matthew. Pay attention to this. You'll begin to discern it. Next, they will always talk about works, commandments, enduring to the end, dead faith, holding onto your faith, and never will they be able to deal with Pauline Theology, or believe that Salvation is completed. They will never accept Grace without the condition of WORKS being added to it, to "keep you saved". "Yes, i know that Jesus shed His blood to save us....BUT, here is the rest of the commandments, enduring to the end, holding unto your faith, confessing your sins.....that you must DO< to STAY SAVED">.. Discern this Saint, as you will be hearing all about it, very soon. Now keep in mind that the Legalist, does not believe that God & Christ will KEEP THEM SAVED.....so, their entire Christianity is a bitter, joyless, self effort to do it for themselves, and this is why they are endlessly trying to convince you that you need to be doing it also. They believe that you can lose your salvation, because they find it impossible to TRUST that God and Christ, will keep them Saved. They read Philippians 1:6, that explains that God started their salvation IN THEM< and will complete it.....and they refuse to accept this, as they are convinced that they need to keep themselves saved, = "Self- Righteousness". They read Hebrews 12:2, that says that Jesus started their Faith and will complete/perfect it, and they refuse to accept this, and instead will try to keep themselves saved by "holding unto their faith". Understand, that Faith does not save you.. but rather God SAVES YOU thru your faith. Faith is not the Savior.....The Savior is Christ on the Cross. Faith does not save you, but rather God giving you His righteousness, and HAS, if you are born again, makes you acceptable to Him, is what is saving you, right this very second. So, i mention that you are to discern any teacher, and the best way to discern them, is to find out what they believe about Salvation, and in fact, if they even understand it. Consider that if a person does not understand God's Grace, (Salvation), then how can they understand anything else in a New Testament. As obviously, if you dont understand Grace, The Atonement, Justification by Faith, then how can you understand anything else that matters, regarding the New Testament, and "sound doctrine"? Our New Testament, tells us to "establish our Hearts, with Grace"...Hebrews 13:9 This means to nail down, what Paul has taught us as "sound doctrine" regarding "Justification by Faith", so that you are not led astray by heretics. Rest assured that if you are ever going to grow in Grace, and receive more revelation and New Testament understanding, then you have to study, not read, but study, Paul's epistles. And not just a little bit.... As this Apostle, is the only one that Jesus chose to personally give to you what you know that is "Church Doctrine" Everything that a real student of the word needs to know, that matters, that is the "main thing", "sound doctrine" "church doctrine" ...= you will find and discover by studying the words of Paul. Paul is the only apostle who told you to "be a follower of ME, as I follow Christ"... 1 Corinthians 11:1 IN 2nd Peter, Peter says that Paul's letters are "scripture", and equal to the Torah. (OT). Imagine an apostle saying that another apostles letters are equal to SCRIPTURE, the word of GOD. But that is he wrote, as that is a fact. This is why most of our NT< is composed by Paul. So, this is one more way for you to discern a Christian's soundness, and accuracy, and truthfulness, regarding what they believe. Notice if they are of the understanding that Paul's Theology, and His Epistles matter most to the believer, regarding understanding what God wants you to know, ...."sound doctrine"..."church doctrine". Legalists, have a spiritual blindness toward's Paul. They will twist one or 2 verses of his verses to try to teach you that you can lose it....but, they have no grounding in his Theology, are not familiar with his letters, and will never be, as Paul is the one that explains in Galatians 1:8 that they and their theology, are "cursed of God". And Saint, when you run into one of these, and they are foaming at the mouth to try to get you to doubt your eternal security, and they are only too happy to TRY to convince you that you can lose you salvation.....you remember what i have told you in my 3 Legalism Threads, and you can discern these heretics and protect yourself and your family. Now, its a good idea if you discern me. You should try. See, i have no fear of this, and welcome your examination. Here is what i do......I give God and Christ full credit for saving me and keeping me saved. I give them full credit for Salvation. I would not dare pretend that i can save myself or keep myself saved by my works, or anything that i can ever do, such as keeping laws, confessing sin, or keeping commandments, or enduring to the end, or any of this phony baloney, self righteousness. I know who the Savior is, and its not ME. I would never try to talk you out of your salvation, or cause you to have doubts about your salvation being completed, "in Christ". I would never have you living your Christian life, in fear, worried that you might go to hell if you don't do certain things and maintain a certain lifestyle. See, God didnt save you because of what you would or would not do LATER, after you are SAVED....He only saved you and keeps you saved because of what Jesus the Christ did for you on a Cross that has Redeemed you, for eternity. Thats IT. Bottom LINE. So, now, also discern my understanding of Salvation, as i explain it simply. The issue is RIGHTEOUSNESS. We dont have any, of ourselves, ours is "filthy rags" according to Paul and the book of Romans,.....and this condition that we are born into, is called...."LOST". "Lost", means, in Christian Terms, that our unholiness has created a disconnect and a division between us and Holy GOD. So, to solve this disconnect, and to build an eternal bridge between Himself and us, He offers a means, whereby we can have His very Righteous, for ourselves. And this Righteousness, is "Christ's righteousness". Without it, we are lost and bound for hell. But with it, we are delivered from Eternal Judgment , = hell = Lake of Fire. So, God wrapped Himself in Human flesh, was born of a Virgin, and Jesus as God and fully man, was manifested in the flesh to save us. 1 Timothy 3:16 "Save us", means, God as Christ lived a holy life AS A MAN, sinless, which resolved the issue of the Law, that was judging us as unrighteous and lost. On the Cross, shedding His Blood, ...God as Jesus the Christ, bore our sin's and removed the law from its capacity to judge us in eternity. Christ rejectors will face God as Judge, and the Born Again, meet God as their FATHER..."abba". God then, (as we hear the Gospel and believe in Christ), takes our sin and lets Christ die for it, and He takes Christ's righteousness, and imparts it to us, gives it to us, so that we become Born again, new creatures, and have now the very Righteousness of Christ, as OUR Righteousness. And from that moment, (born again) God never again imputs our sins to us....Romans 4:8, and we are "accepted in the beloved", we are family members, for eternity, and nothing can change this, because its all provided for us, and given to us, and kept for us for FREE. Philippians 1:6
  5. Behold

    Its All Yours.

When you were born again, you became a part of God's eternal family. Your status, eternal, changed, from "hell bound, lost, unbeliever".... to Redeemed, Child of God, Child of Light, Born again, and also this......"joint HEIR with Jesus". So, getting your head wrapped around this eternal reality,....truly wrapped around it, is game changing, is path changing, is Theology Changing, is, life changing. Now....lets start with the word "Heir". This means, in the biblical context, that...> whatever Jesus is, and whatever God has, is all yours. All of it. This is why your NT tells you...>"""As Jesus IS, so are we (born again) in THIS world"""......not later, not just in heaven, but already, right now. You, the born again, have become this....."IN Christ"......and this means, "connected to, as ONE", with God and with Christ. So here are some verses to help you to grab this amazing status that you have BECOME now that God has re-evalauated your worth and family membership, based on the shed blood of Jesus The Christ. Romans 8:2....."God that spared not his own Son, but delivered Him up for US all, shall God not >with him< also freely give us all things...."""" Now, do you see that phrase?..... "WITH HIM"..... and why does this matter the most of all?.......It matters because all the promises of God are IN HIM, in JESUS......so, the verse is teaching you to understand it like this... "with Him came all that is now YOURS, because what He IS, and what He can DO, and what He Possesses, comes WITH HIM, and He is IN YOU< and you are IN HIM......."in Christ". This simply and wonderfully means that "all the good that comes with Christ....healing, revelation, joy, power, gifts, resurrection, eternal life, favor, prosperity.....all this comes WITH HIM as your SALVATION, as all this is a part of Him, and it is now IN YOU, because He is in you, and you are ... "in Christ". What is His, is YOURS.....and this will never ever change. Glory to God ! This is why you, the born again, are now titled by God a "joint heir' of ALL that Christ has, and all that God has......as it ALL comes WITH THEM, and they are IN YOU, and you are IN THEM. 1st Corin 3:23 says that "all are YOURS...(all they have)....because ... You are Christ's and Christ is Gods..."" We are "ONE"......"one body"...."one Church"..... Now, what this Good NEWS means for you.....is...........when you need help, when you need healing, when you need love, when you need light, when you need anything..... realize that because you belong to God, all that He Is, ....= belongs to you, just like it belongs to Christ who IS ALL of it.. And because you have Him "In Christ", and because All that He is comes with Him, then you always have free access, as a "joint heir" to ALL that God and Chrst ARE....., and that is why "as Jesus IS, so are YOU< (right now) in THIS World.""" So, grab this reality.....believe this truth......trust this with all your heart, and let this absolute wonder of God's Amazing Grace be your strength and your joy and your Faith.
  6. Dear Lord, in Jesus Christ's name I pray. Welcome Holy Spirit, embody this nation, government and military. God bless Donald Trump, keep him protected, helped and leading your nation strong and free. God bless Justin Trudeau, bend his will to yours, humble him and teach him what he needs to know of You. Thank you Lord for the peace talks in Korea! This is an appreciated answer to so many pleading prayers! We pray for the same peace and understanding in Cameroon, please have mercy and save its people. Please forgive us of all our sins. Especially excuse evil where we oppose, mock and vilify You. Please Lord, we know not what we do. Bless and revive us Lord, thy kingdom come. Put us through the painful process of cleansing this world, nation, generation and church of backsliding, sleepiness, enemies within, blasphemy, watering down of God's truth, word and law. Prune and throw such chaff into the lake of fire. Have us accept and cherish your free gift of salvation and eternal life immediately through your Son's sacrifice in place of our sin debt. May we all pray for this in our life now! Heal, restore and revive your body of Christ saved to do good works in the Lord. May we be light, salt and disciples to this desperate world. Hallelujah, he is risen, he is risen indeed! I pray this sincerely for all lost, enemies and loved ones in Jesus Christ's name, amen! GregoryB
  7. For as long as I have attended church, it seems to me that I have heard the phrase "tithes and offerings". Sometimes, I have heard the word "gifts" used. In most of these cases, it has been about putting money in a plate, a basket or sometimes a cloth bag. Over the years, I have heard my share of sermons on the importance of tithing. I had attended churches, when I was not even a believer, and when the plate came around, felt a bit uncomfortable, partially because I had no idea what was customary to do. I had wished they had just charged admission like a theater, rather than leaving me to figure out how much money I needed to put in the plate as it went by. Indeed, one of the things you often hear unbelievers complaining about is this constant begging for money, that is associated with attending a church, or even watching some religious guy on TV, it always comes down to money. When I was a new believer, I was fortunate to fall into the hands and teaching of the late Dr. Walter Martin. What a lovely man. He had such a way of communicating. I loved attending his adult Sunday school classes. One thing that sticks out in my mind about those sessions, was that when it came time to deal with the finances, he would say something to the effect: "You Christians know what your obligations are. If you are not a believer, please, keep your money, we just want you to enjoy your time with us today." That always impressed me, I wished that other churches I had been to, had that attitude. When I moved from Orange County years later, I attended a new church. There came a point where they were talking about 'Book Signed Members'. To be a book signed member, you were expected to tithe. At the church, a tithe was 10% of your income, your gross income, before taxes. Many Christians do not understand that a tithe is 10% by definition. In fact, it is - tithe literally means tenth. Well, I wanted to be a book signed member there, but to be truthful, I did not want to give up a tenth of my income. It left me a bit distressed. I told the pastor about my feelings, and he recommended a book to me. I bought the book and read it. The book presented the case that Christians should tithe, should give ten per cent to their church. It had scriptures about tithing, and I would look up the passages and read them in the Bible. The more I read, the less convinced I was about the point that the book was making. By the time I was through, the book had lead me to passages that actually convinced me that tithing was not Christian at all, not called for, not necessary, not related to my life in Christ in any way. The book had the opposite effect on me, than the author intended. I began tithing almost immediately. Why did I do that? The answer is very simple. My flesh, the rebellious part of me, resented being required to pay money that would impact my standard of living. However, the book had driven me to the scriptures, where I discovered, that tithing was a part of God's covenant with Israel, not part of any requirement that He placed upon the church. In other words. I was free from obligation to pay a certain amount of money. This freedom, made me thankful, made me appreciate the fact that God had instead, provided me with my needs, out of which He trusted me to give willingly, an amount that was comfortable and in keeping with my means. This freedom even meant that I did not have to give a dime, if I resented it. The strangest part to me was, that the same amount I resented being required of me, I was now happy to give up. God had done a small work in my heart. Later in my walk, I learned to trust God to supply my needs, just as He promised. Rationally, I cannot explain that I could live in a beach town in southern California (a very expensive part of the country where I grew up), and raise 5 kids on only a workman's hourly wage, letting my wife quit her job. Rationally, it is ridiculous. Never-the-less, we have never gone a day without food, never lacked for a roof over our heads, always had clothes on our backs. Right now, I do not have the money to pay my bills, and occasionally we have gone into default on our mortgage, with foreclosure proceedings begun, but I trust that God indeed, can provide all of our needs in spite of what seems reasonable. So far, He always has. Our church began to undergo a building program. Our pastor came before the congregation to ask us, to prayerfully consider how much we might give above our normal amount, over the next two years, so that the church could undergo a building program, and have an idea of what their budget should be. He asked us to pray about it, and if we heard from the Lord, to commit to that amount. My wife and I did just that, we prayed that night about it, and went to bed. In the morning, my wife asked me if I had any amount that I thought the Lord had impressed upon me. I told her that I did. She said she had also. We compared notes. Myself, I was not expecting to see the same numbers. I told my wife that I thought we should give $4000 dollars over our normal amount, over the coming two years. She said "Oh? I got a percentage, we should give 18% of our income as our total giving!" I wasn't expecting that answer. I was making $12 and hour at the time, working 40 hour weeks. Since I worked 5 days out of seven, that meant I got paid for 5/7 of 365 days each year - approximately 261 paid days. $12 an hour times 8 hours a day times 261 days a year times two years was $50112. I actually worked it out, because my wife and I had two different numbers. Hers was to make our total giving to 18%. I subtracted our ten percent tithe from her 18% total giving number, to arrive at 8% above normal. As it turns out, 8% of $50112 is $4008.96. I took that as close enough to be from the Lord, a skeptic might expect God to be more accurate. It is possible, that the discretion is due to my human side. I came up with $4000, because I felt that the Lord had moved me to giving the money, that I was setting aside for an individual retirement account (IRA), which was $2000 dollars a year. I believe that the Lord spoke to my wife, and gave her a number, in a different way, and that that number roughly corresponded to my number, so that I would see that He was at work. He gave her an even number spiritually, while He worked on my heart about what to sacrifice. Looked at in that light, to numbers rounded off and yet so close together (within about 2/10 of one percent), is pretty remarkable. Somehow, even though it would have been more accurate, it seems unlikely that God would have told my wife "Give 17.79821200510855683269476372924649 %". Maybe God knows I prefer round numbers. But what sayeth the Scriptures? There is much in the Bible, about money, and much confusion about it in the church. Tonight, we will look at a lot of what God has said, regarding money and regarding tithes, and see what He speaks to our hearts. Father, as we open your word tonight, we ask that you open our eyes and hearts. We seek to know your will, and ask that as we go through various verses, that you give us spiritual discernment, that we may know what is from you, and what may be from any agendas we might have. Give us the supernatural ability, to judge what is true, and what is error. Lord, I ask that you use all here, to bring forth understandings, that you want us to have. Give us the courage to speak out, regardless of what others may think, and the wisdom to be open to your voice only. We thank you that you hear our prayers, and have provided this place, where we can gather and learn from each other and from you. We ask these things, by the authority that you have given us, through your Son Jesus, and thank you for what you are doing in our lives. Amen 11/15/2017 - Updating this unfinished feature, should be done in a day or two. If you cannot wait, you can see it at: http://www.omegazine.com/biblestudy/tithe_1.html
  8. Hi everyone! Does Christianity have essential deeds? No. We have salvation. While other religions grow out of deeds; never resting assured in your salvation; deeds in christianity grow out from deep personal relationship and conviction. We have f.i the 7 pillars of Islam. I`m a bit of a student myself, so I tried finding what the Bible says is essential. For; in Norway; we have 3 B`s. Bible, Bønn (prayer in english) , and Brødsbrytelse (Sacred Communion) . So to my astonishment; I found 7 deeds that all start with a B in norwegian. I considered this a miracle. I list those here. 1. Bekjennelse/Confessing; the christian faith, or becoming christian, and confessing sins. 2. Bønn/Prayer; for yourself, countries, loved ones etc facing Jerusalem 3 times a day. Your intimate life with God. Worship either through soaking, singing, praising God in nature, or art each day. 3. Bibel/Bible. Read the Bible, and study the works, and secrets of God`s hand in creation. 4. Bud/The commandments. Meditate on them, and keep them throughout the day; it helps us having God as our first priority, first love and focus. 5. Brorsfelleskap/Fellowship. Attending church. Being with Christian friends. Bible study. Cell groups. 6. Brødsbrytelse/The sacred communion. 7. Befalingen/The Great Commision. Preach the gospel to the ends of the Earth. What do you think of this list? And if you liked it; is there something to add? Yours sincerely.
  9. What do you think about the Sayre's law? "In any dispute the intensity of feeling is inversely proportional to the value of the issues at stake."
  10. Daily Reading 28 If you prefer, you can look up the following verses in your own Bible, of by whatever means and in whatever version you choose. Luke 20:27-47 Genesis 37 Psalm 28 Audio 5:07 Audio 4:56 Audio 1:28 The above addresses are linked to Bible Gateway. That is an easy way to read (or listen to) the Bible verses, and choose your version. Personally, I prefer written, that way I can go at my own pace, on think about it, before moving on. Nothing wrong with doing either or both. The Bible says faith comes by hearing. See the picture below to get an idea of what to expect if you follow the above links. Note: The audio will not play the exact verses, it will play the whole chapters, in which the verses exist. Thank you Lord for making the your word so accessible for us in these times. Amen
  11. The McDonalds Hot Coffee Lawsuit - What You Didn't Hear Published May 6th, 2008 Probably at some point, you have heard of the woman who spilled hot coffee in her lap, and sued McDonald’s for millions. What you usually hear, is how this woman drove into the drive-thru at McDonald’s and bought hot coffee, that she then stuck between her legs. Because it was a Styrofoam cup with a slip on slid, the coffee spilled in her lap. Then you hear that that this lady was awarded nearly 3 million dollars because she burned her lap. Generally, most people tend to feel more sympathy for an individual, than they do for multi-billion dollar corporation. In this case some people side more with McDonald’s, reasoning that this woman doesn’t deserve much, if anything, afterall, McDonald’s did not spill the coffee, she did that herself, it was her poor judgement that led to the accident. They also think that 3 million is a ridiculous amount of money, for a coffee scald. Perhaps, you are one of those people. We are always hearing of frivolous lawsuits and/or excessive judgement is lawsuits. Perhaps this angers you some, because you know that these things, cost us all money. Perhaps you believe that if you were in her shoes, you would not have brought this suit, but just admitted your own fault and move on, after you stopped screaming from the pain. Those are easy positions to take, aren’t they? You may not have your facts strait however, or at least you may not have all of the facts. For example, this woman was not driving, she was a passenger in the car, and the car was not in motion. She was opening the lid to add cream and sugar, yes, the coffee was between her legs as she attempted to remove the lid. The lid was on tight enough (which is good, because you would not want the lid to come off if the cup overturned while driving) that she had to squeeze the cup with her legs to keep the cup from lifting, while she pulled the lid off, but, once the lid was off, the cup lost reinforcement, and the pressure from her legs squeezed cup out of round, and the coffee squirted up and out of the cup. In a moment, the coffee was absorbed into her sweatpants which kept the hot coffee in contact with her skin. The pain made her react instinctively and uncontrollably, spilling the rest of the coffee – you get the picture. Now, this doesn’t make the spill the responsibility of McDonald’s, but it does transform the incident from one of a really foolish driver with hot coffee in her lap, to a mistake and accident that anyone of us might have made. Now, what you also might not know, that this was not simply a painful burn. The burns she received were extensive. Six percent of her skin was third degree burns, with additional second and first degree burns. How did it get to such a large about of her body? Well, after the initial burns on her legs and groin, the coffee ran downhill to the car seat, where her buttocks were burned. Without getting too detailed, she was burned everywhere in between. She spent the next eight days in the hospital, having dead tissue removed and receiving skin grafts. The woman sought $20,000 from McDonald’s, but McDonald’s refused. This is when she sought relief through a lawsuit. During the discovery portion of the trial, McDonald’s produced documents which showed that there had been at least 700 claims by people burned by McDonald’s coffee, in the ten years prior to this woman’s case. This shows that McDonald’s knew that it had a problem with the temperature of it’s coffee. McDonald’s also provided information, to the effect that they keep their coffee on hold, at 185 degrees, plus or minus 5 degrees. This is substantially hotter that other establishments. Coffee at home, is usually served at 135 to 140 degrees. To give a perspective, most adults cannot make themselves, no matter how hard they try, hold their hand in water over 130 degree. Water at 105 degrees, is about the most people can tolerate in a hot tub, 95 to 100 still feeling quite hot. Eighty degrees above that, is quite hot! Water at 180 degrees, can give you a third degree burn, in as little as two seconds. There are other facts that you may not have heard, but I will skip most of them. Remember that three million dollars? Well 2.7 million of that was punitive damages. For those of you not familiar with how are civil court system works, punitive damages are not awarded to the plaintiff, because the plaintiff deserves or needs them. The are designed to punish the defendant (McDonald’s), so that they will have an incentive, to change their behavior, and stop serving coffee that unnecessarily burns 70 people every year. This amount, at the time, was the equivalent of two days worth of coffee sales for McDonald’s. Damages, the amount awarded to the plaintiff as compensation, was awarded by the jury in the amount of $200,000, but it was reduced to $160,000, because the jury found that the plaintiff was 20% responsible. The punitive damages, were reduced by a judge, to $480,000, but the judge said that McDonald’s was reckless, callous, and willful. The parties entered into a secret settlement subsequently, so we do not know how much McDonald’s actually payed. I am guessing that it was less, that McDonald’s threatened to appeal the verdict and/or awards, and that the plaintiff might end up with nothing, so, a compromise was stuck. I do not know, this is just a guess. O.K. What does all of this have to do with a Christian administrator’s blog? I do not know if know the facts of the case that I presented about, change your opinion about it at all, that is not the point. But you can see, that someone might come to different conclusions, if they have all of the facts, or in some cases just admit that they do not know all of the facts, and suspend judgement until they do have the facts. We, as Christians, have a lot of insecurity usually on the topic of judgement. Some of us think think that it means that we should not criticise others. It does not mean that. If you want, you can see my thoughts on judgement as a theological topic, you may, but that is not what I am talking about. I am talking about how quick we can be, to leap to false conclusions, when we do not have the facts. Sometimes we think we have the facts, but we do not know how much more to a story there is than is apparent. Sometimes, it is none of our business to know all of the facts, and in such cases, might we want to consider suspending our opinions out of recognizing our own ignorance? We often have too much pride, to consider that we might be wrong, might not have the facts (who wants to be ignorant?). How do we do this? How does it manifest, where is the harm? We do this when we become critical of others, when they behave in a way that we do not approve of, but we may not realize, that we might have done the same thing in their position. Friendships can be damaged, congregations torn apart, or, if not torn apart, we separate into factions or cliques, where we justify why we are not like those other guys, as the do the same thing concerning us. This is not pleasing to God, we are one family, we are to love the brethren, bearing one another’s burdens, making peace, forgiving each other, as God also forgave us. Before you are tempted to reply and scold me and tell me that the Bible instructs us to judge those in church, save your breath, I understand that. Again, that is not the subject here. My topic is more about jumping to unfounded conclusions. Another way that we manifest this faulty type of judgement, is we sometimes blame God, when something in our life is not as we think it should be. We have no idea what is going on behind the scenes. God is the only one who knows all of the details, that lead Him to the actions He performs, or allows things in our lives, that we may not like. We do not know what greater purpose might be served by our discomfort, or how those things are shaping us into better people, perfecting us in areas that need change inour lives. Perhaps the biggest thing we forget, is that while we may approach His throne and make requests, the decisions are His, and they are always right. We were bought with a price, we belong to Him, and we have no rightful claim on our own lives. To the extent that we maintain our own sense of entitlement, we are outside of His perfect will for us. We are at our best, when we complete surrender ourselves to His will. It is not a natural thing for us to do, it is a supernatural quality. Jesus said it best: “Never-the-less, thy will, not my will, be done.” Omegaman
  12. Ever wonder why? Why laws and rules? Why sin and sacrifice? The Law of Moses was the Knowledge of how one may live on earth without sin, yet the Law was perfect, mankind alone is not, soo sacrifices were instituted to take the place of the action called for when creation breaks the laws of its intended programming, which is immediate death. What was missing from The Law of the Knowledge to live a perfect life, was The Wisdom of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in Mankind that they may decern how to properly apply The Law in their lives. Therefore since the flesh of man was corrupted by sin and not worthy to hold The Holy Spirit, an ultimate sacrifice must be made as a blueprint for cleansing ones flesh that the Holy Spirit may indwell and give wisdom and instruction to walk the narrow path successfully. Soo you see The Law, is the Law of Order for Mankind, The original purpose and rules, a lofty target that only God Himself could reach. We were given The Word which became flesh and overcame this sinful world and lit up the Way to redemption and a return to The Source of Love. The Spirit comes that Mankind may have the power to overcome this sinful creation, creation ruled by entropy, that mankind may abide in the fullness of the Creator forever. Every Living thing has rules for living an optimum orderly life. When you break these rules of living you sin. But the reasons for the rules are not random "unfair" rules, they are orderly and through obedience to these Natural Laws you will not sin. Mankind was not created for the scenario you see around you today, this is the reaction of creation to Sin, or disorder. Therefore to understand why we believe what we do you must start with Rule Number One. Do Not Reject God's Word. In fact hold to his rules that you may live out your life in peace. That is the task and purpose of life, to return your life to Order for eternity. Now, when you look at Moses Law you will see a program that causes the body and spirit of a man to live orderly, as intended. Now, when you look at Yeshua's commands you will see the Wisdom of the Holy Spirit on how to apply God's Knowledge of intended living and now cleansed of sin you receive the POWER of the HOLY SPIRIT to overcome temptation. Notice that Yeshua said He was the Way, that we walk A Path, we do not and never were intended to walk in his exact footsteps, he gave us leeway to move right and left within the confines of The Path of optimal living. All this Knowledge ONLY made available THROUGH the Holy Spirit, which Who can only be received by the cleansing of sin, which is made possible by accepting the Sacrifice of The Word who became flesh and fulfilled the Law of Life, was sacrificed and resurrected and in BELIEVING in Him who cleanses us from sin, we are cleansed and are made WORTHY to house the Spirit of God that we may receive POWER to overcome this world!! We are free from the LAW because we are no longer UNDER it, we are ABOVE it! BUT as Paul states, Do not use this forgiveness of sin as a means to do evil, for you will GRIEVE the SPIRIT, and you will slowly lose your JOY. I hope you can see the simplicity of our faith. May God bless you.
  13. LIVING in FAITH fulfills the law. You must obey the Son, do his commandments, which might I add, includes exclusion of certain fields of thought. By not doing something we deny ourselves because of His Word, and therefore fulfill the law. By obeying His commands to Do and NOT do certain things we are living in the Faith of His Word. Oh Ye of little faith, will He find any faith once He returns, You see even Jesus, knowing the future, saw that in the end times we would need to know we weren't crazy for wondering about our faith or lack thereof. He tells us plenty of times about the state of mankind on this planet, that includes you, because before we are saved, we are of this world and corrupted by it, meaning you will most likely be the kind of person described as living at the end times, not good right? Well its Truth. You may know what you were like, you may not know, meaning you have never truly examined yourself, stepped back and really looked your behaviors over. I will say this now, the level of faith found in all people is at historic lows. WHY? Because as light grows dim, the darkness grows. Soo yes we are the most faithless world in this Time, Take heed knowing its EVERYONE. Do You really know thyself? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I will give you a word of warning, starting today you will find less and less faith in the world. A spiritual darkness is rising on the horizon. But hold steady to the path you have chosen, do not lose hope because evil rises around you. Pray, Fast, that you may be spared, in spirit, from the coming evil one. Your Faith shall be tested, for without Fire there is no Temper. The people of today do not know trials, they are tested in weakness, but their weakness is great. Behold I tell you something new today, The time has arrived that the faith of the many will be tested, and therefore I say unto you, take hold your neighbors hand, and pray earnestly that you may be saved. Amen.
  14. Ever wonder why? Why laws and rules? Why sin and sacrifice? The Answer is Order and Disorder. God is Spirit, God in terms of The Essence of The Creator, the Fullness. God is made of Knowledge and Wisdom, in Human terms, in this Creation. The Father is. The Father is the Knowledge and Wisdom of God. From The Father Came The Spirit. The Spirit is the Fullness of the Wisdom of The Father. The Spirit is not the fullness of The Father. The Son is The Fullness of The Father and The Spirit. The SON is The Fullness of The Father Manifested in Creation. ------------------------------------------------------------ Creation was made perfect, no sin, no decay, no death, no entropy, only Order. Entropy is the reaction, to the action of sin, entropy is creations half-life. Adam at the "Time" of sin's introduction into creation was as he was on the day he was created. Whatever "age" he was created at. Now the Reason for what we see today. Order is, wherever The Fullness of The Creator is, "there" Order reigns. Disorder becomes Order, The disorder before Creation was acted upon by the Presence of The Fullness of The Creator and Order became manifest from disorder. All creation is made out of building blocks which are then acted upon by Forces and Powers that organize disorderly "matter" into orderly matter. All matter is divided by Order and laws are in place, or individual matter's instructions/programming. Therefore NATURAL LAW is made manifest by obedience to the order given to matter by Powers and Forces. Order is accomplished in Creation by Obedience to "optimal programming standards, or OPS. Lucifer or The Prince of the Power of the Air, decided that his programming was not sufficient and broke Natural Laws OPS, therefore trespassing or transgressing into knowledge he shouldnt know. His transgression was the original sin which thrust creation into entropy. Lucifer the spirit was the influence behind the serpent, or Nachash which tempted Eve with breaking natural law in order to become something greater than originally programmed for. Eve, once deceived, then had the knowledge on how to deceive Adam. Though Eves deception of Adam was innocent in motive, only just learning that this "food" was good to "evolve" themselves into something better, it was outside the bounds of lawful actions placed by the ELOHIM, and therefore Sin. When Sin, or disorder, "anti-matter" was introduced into this perfect system, the system or creation which had for an unknown period of Sun-ups and Sun-downs living with the fullness of The Creators Spirit, undying, without decay, was forced to now live without the fullness of The Creators Spirit, which had up until that point been a fountain of youth of sorts. Now the law of Entropy took hold of creation and Death was introduced into the World. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Law of Moses was the Knowledge of how one may live on earth without sin, yet the Law was perfect, mankind alone is not, soo sacrifices were instituted to take the place of the action called for when creation breaks the laws of its intended programming, which is immediate death. 15. Is the Old Testament for today - one opinion Posted by Omegaman 2.0 on the January 15th, 2007 I got tired of seeing my last blog, as the latest blog, so I did another to bump my position. I came in at the tail end of a conversation in chat one night, not long ago, it was close to venomous between a few, or at least in seemed to me to be so. As near as I could figure out, it began on a topic like war or the death penalty, or something along those lines. Those topics are still what I would call peripheral theology, yet I cannot deny their importance, because human lives are at stake. What I saw in that chat, was that everyone was under the assumption that their opinion was the right one or the superior one, and felt that their view was justified by scripture. Now, it is great, that everyone is willing to back up their ideas, and form their beliefs, from the scripture. I Try to do that, and just like all of these good people I watched, I too, have opinions, which I have formed from the scriptures. Unlike some of those I observed, I am willing to entertain the notion, that my understanding is limited, and my opinions can be wrong, very wrong. I am going to let some of those opinions show through in this blog, they are not the subject, they are the illustration, feel free to have your own convictions, in fact, you are not only entitled to them, you SHOULD form you own conclusions, for you are accountable to God, not to me, only somewhat to your brothers. At the same time, we should all be open to hearing the opinions and convictions of others. To quote Paul (out of context): 1 Cor 8:1-3 Knowledge makes arrogant, but love edifies. 2 If anyone supposes that he knows anything, he has not yet known as he ought to know; 3 but if anyone loves God, he is known by Him. Now, in the discussion that night, there was a recurring theme. “That is not in the New Testament”, “We are not under law, we are under grace”. There were others, but the point seemed to be, that we do not have to bother with the Old Testament anymore, the New Testament is what runs the show. Is this notion true? Is the question which Testament we are under? Is it, which parts of the Old Testament, can we dispense with? Or, is it possible, that we should be asking, if the New Testament is an edition to the Old Testament, a clarification, not in any way a replacement? Are there other ways we could ask this question? I have some thoughts on this, and, I have some of my opinion on social topics, woven in as well. If you think that you would like to see it, I would be happy for you to do that. I am afraid, however, that it will not be received well by some, because my opinions are there. They will be unpopular with some, and I accept that. I ask you, to consider, whether you can read my opinions, opinions which I would share openly in chat, without holding them against me personally. It is our responsibility, to love each other, and harbor no ill feelings, yet recognize, that differences of opinion are inevitable. We can agree to disagree, agreeably. If you have that maturity, or if you can isolate good principles from a mans opinions, then by all means, check out my thoughts at the link I will provide. Also, feel free to leave you comments in this blog, about what you read, but be forewarned, I am not going to drawn into a debate in this blog, the one I watched, got too close to ugly. http://www.omegascripture.info/worthystudy/opinions/law-grace_OT 15 Responses to 'Is the Old Testament for today - one opinion' Subscribe to comments with RSS Rebekah David said, on January 20th, 2007 at 2:01 pm Read your link oman . Interesting ideas can not say i agree with them all tho that is okay. I do have a question tho when Jesus was talking about the law i have always understood that to mean the Ten Commandments? is this incorrect? My humble opinion is that the OT is just as important as the NT and have seen the same Lord (of both) making them each very relievant to my life. I will say there are parts of each i do not understand and yet do see them as both compatible and neccessary to understand a small glimpse(and darkly at that)our Wonderful Creator. Omegaman said, on January 26th, 2007 at 2:34 am Thank you for your taking the time to read it Rebekah. I do not expect everyone to agree with me, when they do, I will assume I am wrong. I do not think that Jesus, in referring to the law, is talking about the ten commandments. Observe this familiar passage: Matt 5:17 “Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish, but to fulfill. Notice there are two things He did not come to destroy. The Prophets, is a reference to the Books of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekial, etc. Similarly, the Law, is also a collection of books. It was terminology well known to His audience. The Jews had divided the scriptures into categories, but these are manmade, just as our chapter and verse number system is. Jesus was basically saying “I have not come to destroy the scriptures, but to fulfill them.” There are other similar phrases Jesus used. Luke 24:44-45 “These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” 45 Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures There - you see Jesus talking about the Law of Moses. This is probably a longhand version of what He meant by the Law in the previous verse. The Law of Moses, might sound again like the ten commandments to our ears, but it is a referance to the first five books of the Bible. Christians sometimes refer to these as the Pentateuch, to the Jews, it is Torah. The Torah, is obviously more than the ten commandments. When we divide things into categories like this, it is good for some purposes, we like things organized. Consider this. Jesus was always being criticised for things like violating the Sabbath. That, is a violation of law. In the following, you can see that Jesus saw the law as prophetic. Maybe one could make the case that the ten commandments are a prophecy of the Messiah, but I won’t try. Matt 11:13 “For all the prophets and the Law prophesied until John. Here is more evidence, that the Law is more than a few “thou shalt nots”: Luke 2:21-24 21 And when eight days were completed before His circumcision, His name was then called Jesus, the name given by the angel before He was conceived in the womb. 22 And when the days for their purification according to the law of Moses were completed, they brought Him up to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord 23(as it is written in the Law of the Lord, “Every first-born male that opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord”), 24 and to offer a sacrifice according to what was said in the Law of the Lord, “A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.” Now all that being said, I think there is a sense in which you are correct. If you think of the Law as rules for behavior, it is obvious that we do not obey the law flawlessly. Whether you limit yourself to just the ten commandments, or the multitude of other commandments in the Bible. Since we do not obey, we need a way to deal with sins. In Old Israel, they depended on the sacrifice of animals. This, was only a picture of what was to come. The blood of a few animals is not sufficient to cleanse us of sins. Faith in God, and His provison for us, is how we access cleansing from sin. I believe all the animals in the world. can not atone for a single persons sin. I do not belive that the sacrifice of a single sinless person, could atone for the sins of mankind. The math just doesn’t work. However, if God Himself were to sacrifice His body, He is of sufficient worth to cover all of mankind. Problem is, in order for God to do that, He would have to have a body which can shed blood and die. This is why the Diety of Christ is a vital doctrine. Pauls refers to the Law as our schoolmaster, as I believe I mentioned in the link you read. It teaches us two things. The first, is that we are not good enough, the second, is that it points out, through prophecy, who would save us from our sins. I know that was way more than your questioned looked for. so I will do a recap after all my typical longwindedness. Your short question: I do have a question tho when Jesus was talking about the law i have always understood that to mean the Ten Commandments? is this incorrect? My short answer: Yes, it is incorrect, lol. Donna Ps25 said, on February 20th, 2007 at 12:02 pm Wow Omegaman, As always God amazes me. My sister told me this weekend she plans to obtain a new tattoo. So I asked her what the Bible said about it. She mentioned well, there are many Christians she knows that have tattoos. I said yes. And so she thinks we can do as society says is correct?? Then she is conforming to the world. I showed her the passage in Lev. 19 about Tattoos, and so we discussed how several items in that passage are still things we consider we should practice today (as Christians) but yet things like weaving 2 types of material together and cutting sides of hair we have never thought twice over. Later that evening, I just happened to check blogs, and this new one had been posted by you. Very interesting that it came together. Thank you for adding in to our study on the topic. It’s now up to her to pray about her decision. Rebekah David said, on April 27th, 2007 at 1:21 pm Thanks oman! I would like to to go even deeper about the role of the Jews and what we owe to them. God tells us to pray every day for Jerusalem. This is very important and again why the Old testement is very important to all of us. We are adopted into Gods family. Sorry I hope I didn’t open up any problems. Thank you for sharing your thoughts (well done) 2 Tim 3: 16-17 Have a blessed day nobdy said, on May 27th, 2007 at 4:38 pm Thank you for your blog. In order to understand the new testement and specifically what Yeshua teaches, you must have the Old Testement. Myself, I have never read a scripture written by God that tells me to do away with the Old Testement. I think however, one must discover that which is created by man (Church dogma), and that which is commanded by God. An example of what I mean…..for a very long time and maybe still, catholics were not allowed to eat meat on friday….so who deceided this….God or the pope. It has always amazed me that christians do alot of man inspired things and totally ignore the commandments and the Festivals commanded by God. Another example, it is my belief that the Puritans were not celebrating “Thanksgiving”, but the Feast of the Tabernacle. It is by the Grace of God through our belief in He Who is the Christ that we are saved. How folks think that eliminates the Old Testement and it’s teachings is beyond me. Donna Ps25 said, on June 13th, 2007 at 10:00 pm I’m currently reading an amazing book I’ll recommend by Ray Stedman called ‘Adventuring through the Bible’. It has really opened my eyes to looking at the Holy Book in different ways. He very much ties the OT and NT together. The prophecies, the fullfillments, the reason behind each book and why it was written and to whom. I just started the NT part, but the OT was a wealth of info to me. Joel R. said, on June 28th, 2007 at 12:45 pm I have read your link and it is very ineteresting. Like you said we can have a discussion about meanings and literal translations but the Lord taught us in the OT to be responsible for our own actions, something of a rare occasion in our present time. To ignore the OT, which spawned what are now the three main religions of christianity, judaism, and islam (yes even islam) and to replace it with the NT is rather extreme. Watching the end of the movie is much less enjoyable than watching it in it’s full context. Robert Cartwright said, on July 5th, 2007 at 8:35 am I had an ‘out of body’ experience when I suffered a cardiac arrest. The comment I have to make about,” is the Old Testament relevant for today.” is simple. Yes it is! I say this because I thought and quite rightly that my last breath had been taken from me. I uttered the words, “well I’ve finally bought it Lord and I’ve failed you.” The reply came back, “My ways are not your ways, neither are your ways my ways; I have chosen you with all your faults, you didn’t choose me. I know your faults. Now go back and follow my laws, do this and you will greatly please me.” So where did I go? To the ten commandments of course. Then I began to study different laws and see if they were relevant to my situation and the modern day or if they were directed to the peoples of that period in time. A great deal of wisdom, understanding and discernment are needed to interpret these correctly and that is why we have God’s Holy Spirit who will direct us into all truth and knowlege. We are human and we will continue to make mistakes but remember that God knows us and all our ways. The Old and New Testaments compliment each other and there is a wealth of instruction and hope in the old as well as the new. Prayer is the key to heaven and faith unlocks the door. Enjoy both old and new. Bryan said, on July 29th, 2007 at 11:59 pm Jesus did not come to “replace the law but to fulfill the law”. God does not change and people are not different from thousands of years ago. Societies and mans laws change. What applied to mankind b.c. still applies today. Living by faith instead of the law does not negate the law. God still expects the same from mankind as any other time. RJAVF said, on August 18th, 2007 at 1:51 pm I am aware that not many Christians truely know what OLD TESTEMENT means. Some even those who retun tihe believe that the OT is simply the book from Genesis to Malachi. But the OT in reality refers to ANIMAL / BLOOD SACRIFICES. When we say that we are not under the OT what we must undrstand from this is that we are no longer obligated to use animal sacrifices, or high priest or any of the ” shadows” that represented Jesus. The book of Hebrews chapters 7-10 give a good discription of the old covenant and new. and the book of Acts chapter 15 gives a good indication that we ( NONE HEBREW BELIEVERS IN JESUS) must continue to obey the laws writen in the book which we call the OT. The division of the bible into books of OT and NT is not divine. Its a human doing. God divided His SCRIPTURE into two divisions: THE LAW ( written by Moses) and THE PROPHETS. Now these are the divisions made by God and are divine, and ALL of them regardless of what book we read apply today Marguerite said, on September 4th, 2007 at 3:23 pm Hi, Omegaman, Read your blog, superfantastic, meaty with scripture and none ramming - down - your - throat - style. I have and still do struggle with new and old testasment scripture, but know that Its not about me, its about God. I do stuff wrong, we all do, but I just say, hey God I mucked it up again looks like I really do need you. he just needs us to acknowledge our sin and he gives us his grace. Don’t know about you but I live by faith and Grace and Gods Love alone. I have left the pentecostal church I attended because of legalism, saying we should be right with God and be righteous, but We can never be right with God, He makes us right by sending Jesus Christ to shed his blood for us. That and only that Is being right with God. Be real people, stand for Jesus just as you are. live under Grace, and let him love you into being holy through faith in Jesus and his grace and mercy. Thank you for writing what I feel is inspiring to my walk. Refreshing and Real. May God truley and richly bless you with his Love. marg bobinthegong said, on November 9th, 2007 at 6:15 pm Hi omegaman. I’d say that the old testament is alive and well. I only just escaped from a christian chat room where they were discussing the merits of castrating child molesters and rapists! When I asked what we do with women who do those things, stony silence was the stern reply. Seriously though, I have to agree with you. The old testament is rich with God’s promises, the fulfillment of which we see in the life, death and ressurection of Christ. In truth, I don’t think you can have one without the other. The old testament, taken as a whole, is the story of God’s law, and how utterly we are unable to live up to it. The new testament is about what God did about that. I am what could best be termed a ‘returning backslider’. I have been in the wilderness for many years, but just last week I finally took the Book off the shelf, blew the dust off it, and asking God for a ’sign’, for want of a better word, opened up at Isiaih 41. It got my attention, especially vs 8-20. I couldn’t think of a better scripture for someone in my position. There were no flashing lights, no bells or whistles; just a feeling of assurance that I am loved, that God has not forgotten me, that there is light at the end of the tunnel. My conclusion? The Word of God is a thing of beauty, of promise, of love and grace. Check out John 1:1-5. Jesus is the Word of God. And it says somewhere,(Revelation?) that not one jot or tittle of the word will be nullified, or words to that effect. As for you, Omegaman,(revelation again!), you seem to be a fairly sensible, well adjusted bloke. I think, in my experience, that a lot of Christians forget one of the Lords greatest gifts to us: Commonsense. Grace and peace. Ruth said, on November 11th, 2007 at 8:39 pm After reading most of the blogs on this issue about the Old and New Testaments, I felt strongly moved to chime in. It’s funny– I’ve been reading the books of Exodus, Numbers and Leviticus lately because I’ve grown deeply fascinated with the Tabernacle in the wilderness and Yahweh’s Laws concerning its building and sanctification. All things about the tabernacle symbolize our Lord Jesus Christ: the sacrificial bronze altar, it’s annointing with blood, the priest’s robes, and the curtain that is before the Most Holy Place. One of God’s instructions to Moses was to use the colors red, purple and blue year when making the curtain of the tabernacle [Exodus 26:1-2],when making Aaron’s priestly sash and other things. [The Jews Torah? states that the purple yarn represents the Messiah. Purple as you know, is a mixture of red=earth and blue=heaven. There is so much more symbolism that points to Christ, just as he told his apostles. Is the Old Testament relevant for Christians. You bet. I was able to understand Jesus’ even better after reading about the very detailed laws and procedures that Yahweh gave to the Israelites through wonderful Moses. If we don’t consider the ancient symbols that represented the Savior, I feel the we’ll miss out on a lot.(Exodus 26:1-2). PLEEEZE read the Old Testament books–then look at Revelation 1:9-16). Peace. Ruth Rev Albert said, on November 14th, 2007 at 12:37 am Omegaman In all you have said, you have demonstrated what the church currently suffers from. Not the subject on the Old Testament, but about how every uses the Scriptures to push forward their own opinions. I am truly impressed with your level of Comprehension as one who has stepped back and look at everyone doing their own thing. This day, the day you read this tread, declares the Lord God of the heavens, and his only begotten Son Jesus Christ, the Angel of the Lord will make camp with you; and will endow you with all the Gifts of the Spirit and indeed increase your understand. In God’s word we are commanded to humble ourselves; and God will raise us up. You can never know personally that you are humble, but your demonstrated love through how you deal with others shows your humility. You think about your words before you write them or say them; that speaks about your heart. The Angel with you will teach you how to heal the sick and raise the dead; and will also teach you how the power of healing works; and will move you to show love to everyone that you want to help. Once you desire to help, he will move upon anyone you touch and give you tangible evidence that he is there. Even if you do not believe that he is there, he will not leave; and only when you start desiring to show love to someone by either giving or helping them, that he will move upon the person. And God Bless you
  16. Hey all! Did you all know that there is a great need for the Gospel right here in the United States? I love missions, both international and domestic gospel missions. People all over the world need Christ. In our own backyard, the need is just as great. Just a couple of weeks ago, two kids I was working with told me they had never really heard of what Jesus did before. Where is this? In the Baltimore-DC area! Opportunity abounds all around us to proclaim the Gospel truth, whether it's to our neighbors, coworkers, friends, acquaintances, doctors, clients, and business associates. Many people have never heard of the Gospel before. Or, they have sat in church all their life and they have never considered the Gospel for themselves. Or, perhaps their church was not sound and did not really emphasize the Gospel. The Gospel needs to be proclaimed everywhere, both here and abroad, and Open Air Campaigners lives to encourage people to do that. Open Air Campaigners is an international missions board, having missionaries in places like India, Africa, Ukraine, the UK, and parts of South America. OAC also has missionaries in Canada and the US, and has multiple branches in the States (where I'm located). We're probably best known for our "sketchboard", what we often use to share the Gospel with people in the public square and in schools. This creates a visual background and an opening to share the Gospel with people. Along with other creative aids, we strive to reach people with the Gospel with love, passion, and clarity. I would love to share what I do with the folks here at Worthy Forums. There's a few ways you can keep up with my updates so you can see what OAC is like and my missions work. God willing, I hope to hear from you guys soon! God bless! :-)
  17. I was reading a Psalm recently. Psalm 81. I'm not the best at faithfully reading my bible, but this time God really pulled me deeply into it. Old testament, history, etc... things I'm not a very good student of. Add to that the Psalms, and you read a few, they start to feel like the same thing over....and over....and over... My attention focus impaired brain just doesn't usually follow either subject (history or the psalms) very well. This time, however, I followed all the extra notes and references and read the Psalm all the way through twice, then went back to each one and focused on each side note. God called me to examine it deeply. In it, I discovered God asked for two things (in this Psalm). First... to worship ONLY God, that there IS only one God. Second... that worship and praise is not optional. It's actually a statute or a command. It was for Israel, too. Continued reading reveals a bit about israel's history, it makes reference to the waters of Maribah where people were beginning to question God and to grumble and Moses and Aaron didn't obey completely either. It talks about how Israel DID not obey Him. Obey what? Well we know that God does ask some things of us, but in this passage, it seems like God is saying they didn't obey the two points above. They worshipped false God's and Idols, and they did not praise Him. It goes on to say that the results of obedience would have had a worldly impact (it specificially says then those who were against God would turn back cringing before God in my Amplified bible). It also said that Israel itself would have had all of it's needs provided for, comparing these provisions with honey flowing from rock and fine wheat. Instead, Israel spent years wandering in a desert and then MANY MORE years later on as slaves... all because mankind is disobedient of the most basic principles. Love ONLY God and prove it through your praises. So, when we praise, what can it affect? Whom can it affect? Sounds to me like Psalm 81 reveals that when we praise, we have national (even global) impact on those around us as well as provisions and blessings for ourselves. No wonder God commanded praise.
  18. 1 John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the Law: for sin is the transgression of the Law. I've been studying on this and wanted to share the thoughts I've been having on this subject and also to ask some questions. The above verse is clear. Sin is not doing what i think is wrong, or what a certain church may think is wrong, or even what the world says is wrong. Sin is the transgression of the Law. Now I started focusing on the last word of that verse....Law. Now, believe it or not, it actually took me a while to realize it did not say sin is the transgression of the Law of Moses . Which got me thinking and wondering about some things? 1. We are not under law but grace. So how is there still sin? 2. I didn't think there was law in the garden of Eden, so how did Adam and Eve sin? Could the answer to my questions be as simple as Law = all commandments of God or The entirety of the Word of God In context with this verse? To give an example of what I mean, John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. Jesus said the above verse and that it was a new commandment. To transgress this is to sin. But why and how is it a sin? The only thing I can see is all commandments of God or all of the Word of God is law as regards to 1 John 3:4. So what does everyone else think? Do I finally got a handle on this subject or have I strayed into error? Please use scripture in your answer so that I might further investigate this in the bible, Thank you. P.S. What got me into this subject was a perception on my part that everyone seemed to have their own definition of what sin is, and I was curious what the bible actually says. Firestormx
