    7 Reasons

Is it okay to abort a baby? What would you say? People give many reasons why abortion is an acceptable choice, including: - The inconvenience of pregnancy - Incompetence of parents - Infant disabilities - It’s the woman’s body - It’s not a baby - Rape or incest - She’s not ready to be a parent Seeing those who are ardently pro-choice change their minds in moments is both compelling and convincing.
  2. I have been beside myself for weeks! Im just gonna get straight to the point. When I was young around 13 I saw porn for the first time by accidentally stumbling upon a site I miss spelled (in all honesty). And the porn I saw was gay porn. I watched bits of it and sadly got facinated and even more sadly attracted to it even tho I still was attracted to girls. I had a horrible habit of it throughout the year but never did it with anyone bc I knew it was wrong anyway. But half way through last year I accepted christ as Lord through a youth retreat. Past then ive felt alot of guilt for my actions and continued on with my habit the follow weeks. It was just recent were ive been so down on myself for these acts and I broke out crying to the Lord asking for forgiveness and how poor of a representation I was. Its so hard to be a light for God kingdom when you are commiting sins like these wether its any sin (all sin is same in Gods eyes, except blasphemy of the holy spirit). But more recently I watched it again but wasnt gay porn. Im embarrassed to talk about this but really want answers to my questions especially from a place where multiple christians can answer. My questions are am I saved? Ive heard so much to God loves gays (he doesnt like the gay part) to u are going straight to hell if youve ever felt that way towards same gender. I want to be at rest with this bc the thought of being seperated from God scares me. And second How can I tell im saved if I am? I know its through the holy spirit and I hear him getting at me to pray and to ask for forgivness and tells me to do things like help others or points out certain people that I need to be nice to or pray for them. Its just im so so so scared of wondering if im saved or not based on all my horrible actions. Ik I have the holy spirit within me I am just worried and scared. I need %100 confirmation of these things. I want to be at rest and tired of battling myself. Plz help and pray for me. God bless you.

Why Shalom instead of Peace in the welcome? Just curious.
  4. I read the entire "Christian's going to hell" thread and was about to jump in with my own reply. I did not realize the limitations of this forum section. I suppose that is fine. I got a lot out of what was discussed but still struggle with some of it. I get all the points of views, proof, beliefs and such. I am not trying to call out or trap anyone. I am a baby Christian and have honest questions for clarification. I pray we can all come to an agreement on God's word and truth. I was hoping we could base the discussion on Matthew 25 ( https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=matthew+25&version=NIV ) and how it related to the thread I could not jump in on. My question is this. Does Matthew 25 add or take away from any and all posts made there by *everyone*? I have more specific questions too. The ten virgins for starters, do they not represent Christians covered in the blood of Jesus? I am not clear on the oil in their lamps as well. I suppose it could relate to my above general question. I am wrestling with all this. I believe I am a born again Christian. I have faith in my salvation. I am concerned about others I care for and love. I will elaborate and add more enquiries as this thread develops. May opportunities open to know and understand the Holy Trinity better. Be well, content and helpful in the Lord.
  5. I am starting this thread with no idea where it would lead to but I have decided to write down these thoughts because I think it will could be interesting to someone and I myself would like to hear some ideas. Forgive me if this is a bit long. As a Christian, I am thinking about my understanding of scripture. Some background: I have been a Christian since October 2000. I grew up in a Christian family and have been in church nearly all my life. My dad is a theologian and a preacher. My mother is a teacher and so I come from a strongly academic family which also includes theological He is in the Dutch Reformed Church. I was also in that church until I was about 12 or 13. After that I have been mostly in charismatic churches. There is a lot more to this and various complication in my family and home life that come into this but I think this should be enough for now. The basic questions I have are these: How do I know what to believe? How can I be sure that a certain view is correct or not? Who do I trust to give me the truth? and How do I see the truth of scripture connect to the natural world and my real lived experience? As you can see, these are questions that have been asked by many people and there is probably no final answers to them, Now I want to expand on a few things and add some thoughts. They are just my ideas and could be right or wrong but they are sincerely meant and not aimed at anyone. I think I always believed that there must be a God. Even from a young age it just made sense to me. Many people argue that people are Christians mostly because they have been brought up that way. Yet I am quite sure that I would have become a Christian anyway even if I had not been in such a household. I have had doubts and there have been moments where I really questioned God's existence. But I could just never shake off the feeling deep down that there must be a Creator. I allowed myself many times to look at my faith as a Christian and ask myself whether, objectively, my faith was reasonable considering what I know right now. And every time I asked this it led me back to Jesus eventually. Of course, I think my objectivity is compromised, because I find Christianity attractive and want it to be true. That is just honestly my dilemma. Now let me assure you, I believe the Bible is true. I am just asking myself how this faith works practically. What is it about Christianity that makes it believable. In a way, this goes right into the idea of knowledge. What can we know? How do we know something? Is personal experience of something necessary for knowledge? After all, everybody and anybody could be wrong about just about anything. Or they could be deliberately deceiving me. To illustrate my issue let me mention this example of how we can be wrong about things: for many years I have played Monopoly. Recently I learned that I had been playing the game wrong all these years and that the rule we were breaking would have changed the whole game completely. I had simply accepted the rules that were given to me and never questioned it, trusting that they must know what they are doing. I find things like this often in far more serious subjects. Consider this: would a person born deaf and blind be able to believe? This leads me to the issue of my mistrust of "experts" and popular beliefs. I must confess that I do not know that much. Only enough to know how little I know. When you have an abundance in something, it is easy to not fully make use if it. In my family we have an abundance in books and in people with high levels of education and knowledge. In spite of this, I struggle to understand highly technical information and I often find myself uncertain about my facts. I have always struggled to read as much as I would like to. I have tried. And this makes me feel so inferior in my family where dinner conversations are often dominated by intellectual subject. You find in my family atheists, Greek orthodox, universalists and other widely different beliefs. Most of my family, including my dad, believes in evolution and are entirely secular. It has dawned on me that knowledge really is power. Those that seem to know something can easily control and manipulate those who don't and it is this that leads me to doubt. A good argument can be wrong. For a long time I simply accepted what my dad said. After all, he is a very smart man. But as I grew older, I started to realize how he can even be wrong about subjects he is supposed to be an expert in. So having a good argument alone does not ensure that what someone says is true. Proof is needed somehow. And even on this forum I have noticed that very often people differ even on what constitutes proof. This is also why i often avoid non-biblical books about philosophy and theology. For the sake of keeping myself from going insane with deep and difficult questions, I try to base my beliefs on Scripture and on what I can personally observe or experience. Even then I doubt my own understanding so much. I also have made a deliberate decision to stand on certain points where there is a lot of controversy in order to stop myself from being tossed around by opposing but reasonable sounding arguments. One more thought that I have been sitting with. It has been interesting to me to look at the forums and note some of he debates going on. I rarely allow myself to go to these ( because they only confuse and frustrate me more), except to just look at how people are presenting their point of view. I get the sense sometimes that no one has really determined what the bottom line is for each person. And in a public forums where anybody can join and have different motivations in joining as well as vastly different backgrounds, it is surely inevitable that the discussions will end up going the way they do. To someone like me, this does not really help me learn or understand something better. I don't want to choose sides, I want to learn the truth (if this is possible. Is objective knowledge possible?) I am just not sure it can end up any other way, because I have rarely ever seen anyone change their original position on any of these debates.
  6. I'm a former Oneness Pentecostal, also known as Apostolics or Jesus Only; I was involved with them in London, England in the last 1980s. Would anyone like to ask me some questions about them? I've studied their doctrines for almost thirty years now. My YouTube channel (Christian Comedy Channel) has a Oneness playlist with 99 videos and my channel has well over 7 million hits.
  7. I snagged this from another site I'm on. 1. What have you experienced this year that has been remarkable? 2. What are your goals for the new year? 3. Is there something you would like to achieve but still undecided if it is something you want to focus in? 4. What are the negative things that happened this year? 5. What are the positive things that happened this year? Here are my answers: 1. I think the most remarkable thing I experienced this year was standing off Satan in the power and authority of God. I had no power of my own to do this, as you know, but basically I fought back when he attempted to attack me, called on God, and God saved me. All the power and doing was God's, but I had to take on the attitude of resisting and fighting back. I have been doing spiritual warfare for years now, and this was the single biggest victory ever. Also, now all the spiritual enemies are afraid of me, haha. James 4:7, NIV: "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." 2. My goals are to stick around here for Christian fellowship and support, and also find a church to go when I can. I also want to help people as much as possible. 3. I am supposed to be crocheting. I would like to crochet more and be able to provide and blankets and so forth as a ministry. I am not sure what else at the moment to focus on. Oh, I want to get better at art also. 4. I lost three friends, one my matron of honor. I recently got one back, but the other two are gone for good. Also had a lot of health problems. 5. The marriage went through some hard times, but we persevered, hung in there, fixed stuff, and celebrated our 20th anniversary recently! So that's good. One of my photos is on Pinterest. I made some new friends. So what are yours?
  8. I may not be able to answer questions immediately, if fact, I certainly will not. However, I will try to respond in a timely manner. I may not yet, even know the answers, as this is a ongoing development. If certain questions seem frequently wondered about, or important and the answers missing or unclear, then I will probably create and FAQ (frequently asked questions) section later. For now, you all are part of influencing what this club will become.
  9. I had once heard a few different people explain this bible scripture, but I would like more opinions. 2 Corinthians 2:14-15 "But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him. For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing."
  10. Hello everyone, My name is Jake and I'm new here! I thought it would be cool If everyone shared how Jesus communicates with you. I'll start: I believe that Jesus talks to me through coincidence. anytime I have a faith based thought or question, I get an answer. Whether it be through Chatting with a friend or, through billboards or television, radio, music etc. The Bible of course, goes without saying. Sometimes when I'm chatting with a friend or colleague, the conversation will mirror a thought/prayer I recently had, and the answer is revealed through continued conversation (even though the original thoughts and prayers never physically left my mind) It used to be somewhat eerie in a sense that the words that other people spoke, were so close to my prayers that I shared with Jesus and Jesus alone, that my mind would race in an attempt to recall if I may have mentioned something about the prayer to the person I was talking too. but again, those thoughts, questions, and prayers are all kept personal. and the person that I am currently talking too has no Idea. to them, It's merely a conversation, but to me, its a revelation, and unbeknownst to them, they are a messenger from God to answer my prayers. T.V. Radio, and music are the same: A thought that is floating around in my head, is suddenly blown up in the physical world. To everyone else, it's just another sitcom rerun, or another advertisement, movie, song, - or whatever- but for me, It's like a secret code, that nobody else can see, except me and Jesus. It's so enlightening, that every time it happens, I want to share it with the world. Unfortunatley, nobody else gives it a second thought. to them it's a coincidence, and it gets shrugged off, or its me "just projecting" hell, I've even been called crazy. yea, blah blah blah. Jesus talks to me, and It's AMAZING. I get goosebumps when it happens, So this got me thinking, what are some other ways our Lord talks to you guys? thanks for reading and God Bless!
  11. Loves me where I am, but insists on me following Him out of where I am!
  12. This story, told in poetic language and music, is the fictional account of a young filmmaker who is traveling the world looking at it through her unblinking lens. She sees the beauty, the pain and destruction, the hope and disappointment, and she passionately asks God: WHY? Why is mankind in such a mess? Why has God allowed it to happen? And what in the world can be done about it? Is. 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHEF5np4mr4
