  1. Shalom, everyone. I think I may have started something like this a year or so ago, but I still feel that it is important to explore and correct, if possible. Down through the last 2,000 years or so, we have made some MAJOR changes to terminology that I believe we as a people once knew and now have changed the meanings of those words into something that is now totally foreign to the first century meanings. Among these words that are so foreign to their original meanings are the following: I believe that we should work toward a paradigm shift back to the original meanings of these words. There are others, of course, that could have been listed, as well, but these are the fundamental ones. And, I believe they are fundamental because to some they are especially "holy words" that "one should not touch" as far as trying to correct their meanings. The major six are the ones in the circle: salvation, gospel, kingdom, Christ, church, and heaven. I started with angel and heaven, but one could start anywhere, because it is truly a "state function." That is, it doesn't matter how you get from point A to point B; it will take you the same amount of time and effort to make the journey. Let me start with a few basics: Will = want. When one asks, "What is God's will for my life?" he or she is actually asking the same thing as "What does God want for my life?" This may break down into more particular questions, like: "What does God want me to do for a living?" "What job does God want me to have?" "Who does God want me to marry?" "Where does God want me to live?" Faith = trust. "To have faith in God," one must learn "to trust God." Connected to this is the adjective and adverb forms of the words: "To be faithful" = "to be trustworthy." When we say, "God is faithful," we are saying that "God is trustworthy!" that is, "He is worthy of our trust!" A "faithful" spouse is a spouse we can trust to be consistently devoted to us. A faithful person or a trusty person is one we can count upon. Faithfulness = trustworthiness. There are certain words that are used in church or in synagogue on Sunday or Shabbat that have SYNONYMOUS COUNTERPARTS in life during the weekdays in other scenarios and workplaces. Let's start with some fun. What are some other words that you use in church that have a different word you've noticed using in secular areas of your life? Let's see how many we can come up with.
  2. Hey everybody! I am a 14 year old boy and im an Orthodox Christian. I play alot of video games and when you install and download video games, there are terms and conditions and stuff you gotta agree to.I started searching for keywords "soul" "satan" "devil" just to be sure, when i can't search for keywords in the agreements i read them fully. There is a game i want to download that says there are terms and conditions, but i can not find them since there is no link on their website.Anyway,if i randomly agree to every terms and conditions could i actually sell my soul? I am really worried
  3. Shalom to all. Sometimes, people will refer to an "eternal soul" or an "immortal soul" and will think of the "soul" as the "real you," as opposed to a person's body, but I'd like to discuss this point. The ramifications of the definition of such a thing as a "soul" are HUGE! And, how a person defines "soul" will determine how one looks at our final destiny. What does God promise about the future and how does it involve a person's "soul?" Let me start with a few basic points, and we'll go from there: First, the words translated as "soul" in the Scriptures are ... "nefesh," spelled "nun-(segol)-fei-(segol)-shin," in the Hebrew of the TANAKH (the OT), often written "nephesh," and ... "psuchee," spelled "psi-upsilon-chi-eta," in the Greek of the B'rit Chadashah (the NT), often written "psuche" or "psyche." Here are the entries in the dictionaries of Strong's Exhaustive Concordance that correspond directly or indirectly to the word "soul": 5315 nephesh [nefesh] (neh'-fesh). From naphash; properly, a breathing creature, i.e. Animal of (abstractly) vitality; used very widely in a literal, accommodated or figurative sense (bodily or mental) -- any, appetite, beast, body, breath, creature, X dead(-ly), desire, X (dis-)contented, X fish, ghost, + greedy, he, heart(-y), (hath, X jeopardy of) life (X in jeopardy), lust, man, me, mind, mortally, one, own, person, pleasure, (her-, him-, my-, thy-)self, them (your)-selves, + slay, soul, + tablet, they, thing, (X she) will, X would have it. 5314 naphash [naafash] (naw-fash'). A primitive root; to breathe; passively, to be breathed upon, i.e. (figuratively) refreshed (as if by a current of air) -- (be) refresh selves (-ed). 5590 psuche [psuchee] (psoo-khay'). From psucho [psuchoo]; breath, i.e. (by implication) spirit, abstractly or concretely (the animal sentient principle only; thus distinguished on the one hand from pneuma, which is the rational and immortal soul; and on the other from zoe, [zooee], which is mere vitality, even of plants: these terms thus exactly correspond respectively to the Hebrew nephesh, ruwach and chay) -- heart (+ -ily), life, mind, soul, + us, + you. 5594 psucho [psuchoo] (psoo-kho'). A primary verb; to breathe (voluntarily but gently, thus differing on the one hand from pneo [pneoo], which denotes properly a forcible respiration; and on the other from the base of aer [aeer], which refers properly to an inanimate breeze), i.e. (by implication, of reduction of temperature by evaporation) to chill (figuratively) -- wax cold. This introduces us to a few more terms we should consider (presented in the order is which they were introduced) for this discussion: 4151 pneuma (pnyoo'-mah). From pneo [pneoo]; a current of air, i.e. Breath (blast) or a ; by analogy or figuratively, a spirit, i.e. (human) the rational soul, (by implication) vital principle, mental disposition, etc., or (superhuman) an angel, demon, or (divine) God, Christ's spirit, the Holy Spirit -- ghost, life, spirit(-ual, -ually), mind. Compare psuche. 2222 zoe [zooee] (zo-ay'). From zao [zaoo]; life (literally or figuratively) -- life(-time). Compare psuche [psuchee]. 7307 ruwach (roo'-akh). From ruwach (too-akh'); wind; by resemblance breath, i.e. A sensible (or even violent) exhalation; figuratively, life, anger, unsubstantiality; by extension, a region of the sky; by resemblance spirit, but only of a rational being (including its expression and functions) -- air, anger, blast, breath, X cool, courage, mind, X quarter, X side, spirit((-ual)), tempest, X vain, ((whirl-))wind(-y). 2416 chay (khah-ee'). From chayah; alive; hence, raw (flesh); fresh (plant, water, year), strong; also (as noun, especially in the feminine singular and masculine plural) life (or living thing), whether literally or figuratively -- + age, alive, appetite, (wild) beast, company, congregation, life(-time), live(-ly), living (creature, thing), maintenance, + merry, multitude, + (be) old, quick, raw, running, springing, troop. 4154 pneo [pneoo] (pneh'-o). A primary word; to breathe hard, i.e. Breeze -- blow. Compare psucho [psuchoo]. 109 aer [aeer] (ah-ayr'). From aemi [aeemi] (to breathe unconsciously, i.e. Respire; by analogy, to blow); "air" (as naturally circumambient) -- air. Compare psucho [psuchoo]. and, 2198 zao [zaoo] (dzah'-o). A primary verb; to live (literally or figuratively) -- life(-time), (a-)live(-ly), quick. 2421 chayah [chaayaah] (khaw-yaw). A primitive root (compare chavah, chayah); to live, whether literally or figuratively; causatively, to revive -- keep (live, make) alive, X certainly, give (promise) life, (let, suffer to) live, nourish up, preserve (alive), quicken, recover, repair, restore (to life), revive, (X God) save (alive, life, lives), X surely, be whole. The first occurrence of the word nefesh is NOT about the creation of the Man, Adam. The first occurrences are on a day earlier in the Creation Week: Genesis 1:20-23 (KJV) 20 And God said, "Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven." 21 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. 22 And God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth." 23 And the evening and the morning were the fifth day. The important verse is ... Genesis 2:7 (KJV) 7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. This verse doesn't say anything about the LORD God forming the BODY of the man; it says that He formed the MAN of the dust of the ground! Then, He breathed into the nostrils of the man a puff of life, and the MAN became a living SOUL! a living, AiR-BREATHING CREATURE! Now, notice the curse for Adam's sin: Genesis 3:17-19 (KJV) 17 And unto Adam he [God] said, "Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, 'Thou shalt not eat of it': cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; 18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return." God didn't say his BODY was made of dust; He said to Adam, "YOU shall return unto the ground, for out of the ground YOU were taken!" He concludes "YOU are dust, and to dust YOU shall return!"
  4. Brethren please I wanna ask, How do you deal with friends/Neighbours with very bad habits and doesn't wanna change, but rather want you to always be around them and get upset when you stay away from them?? Knowing that the bible told us to flee from such people, how do we manage their feelings so they dont feel rejected ?? Please share your experiences. Thank you.
  5. For today, I am Skrek. Why Skrek? The Spiritual or Principalities have layers. It has layers like the atmosphere. Some of these layers have been like God's Clothes. (The Emperors New Clothes?) We shouldn't expose the Father's nakedness? (Genesis 9) Someone pulling back the layers for you, so you can see, may be an Ogre. Shrek beats up Thanos. Shrek takes the Infinity Gauntlet like a warrior from the Iliad taking the armor of a Hero he vanquished as a trophy. Skrek now has The Soul Stone. What exactly is The Soul Stone and what does it do? Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' (Matthew 22:37) Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.(Deuteronomy 6:5) Christians are to love The Lord their God with their Heart and Soul. Before Christ, this may have come partially in the form of Nationalism. Jacob's name was changed to Israel. God Almighty is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Isaac was a child of promise. God promised Abraham sons. Isaac is special. David defending Israel against Goliath was an act of National pride and patriotism. It was an act of love and faith with God. Loving God with your heart and soul, in terms of the Old Testament, may have come in the form of identity, like identity politics, how someone identifies and sees themselves. It was tied to a form of Nationalism. In Ezekiel 23, Israel and Judah are like two sisters God married. They prostituted themselves with foreign gods and foreign nations. That is multiculturalism. Someone with a heart for God is Zealous like David was. Zealous in defending his brothers and his God. Love of money is the root of all evil, and those looking to make money with foreigners or looking for foreign titles or foreign acceptance would be a multiculturalist and prone to sin and idolatry to fit in? Jesus is a Bridegroom looking for a Bride. Men are to love their wives as God loved the Church. The Church is said to be a Bride for Christ. Identity has a lot to do with the make up of the soul. Where is someone's heart and soul? Someone should identify themselves as a Child of God. They should work to build The Kingdom of God. That is where their soul should be. The Counter Culture is Satanic and based on Marxism and Crowley. It works to splinter and divide man, divide nations, divide the Church. Christians should reject it zealously. Men who tend to love God and love God's law tend to be traditional people and Nationalists. In Britain, for example, a lot of the coronation of the King or Queen and the symbolism is based on Prophet Samuel and the Anointing of King Saul like the King of Britain is God's Anointed. The Queen is God's Anointed and the head of the State Church, the Anglican Church? Love of God for many British would look like Traditional Nationalism? Multiculturalism would be like drinking a harlots wine? (Ezekiel 23)(Revelations 17) The head of man is Christ, the head of woman is her husband. (1 Corinthians 11:3) Christ is to man as man is to woman. (1 Corinthians 11:3) The head of man is Christ. The head of woman is her husband. God is said to have married Israel or Jerusalem in the Old Testament. The Greater Church is a bride for Christ. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her (Ephesians 5:25) There is a 16 year old girl. She starts dating. She has a boyfriend. This is her first boyfriend. She loves him. They end up in sin together. She molds and changes for him. She sees the two of them as a couple. She works to build an identity as a couple. Her identity is shaped by the relationship. As she is shaping their identity together, and because they were in sin, they became "one flesh," she has a Soul Tie. Their souls are tied together. He dumps her after a 9 months. He didn't really take the relationship that seriously, and may be headed for an extended adolescence. The US Government says he is not a man till age 26 for reasons to do with Healthcare, and he may not understand responsibility and manhood and know who he is due to a variety of factors till around that time anyway. He wasn't ready for that type of commitment. The 16 year old girl is now a hurt woman. She is damaged. She has to build an identity outside of that relationship. She hates her ex. She ends up a feminist. She wants a career, and she hates men. Her identity around feminism starts to form. That is what she is loving with her soul and her heart. In college she meets has a new boyfriend. He doesn't like all that feminist stuff. She likes him. Her plan is to be married by 25. Her biological clock is ticking, and he came along at the right time. She drops a lot of the feminist identity to forge a new identity with that relationship. Kingdom of God The Avengers movie came out recently. Someone has The Soul Stone. Given someone had the Soul Stone, he could make Captain American a Captain Russia. Captain America's Identity and what he loves and fights for is tied to his patriotism and love of country, what he loves with his soul. It is tied to the pre-Counter Culture value system of what makes a man. With the Soul Stone, someone could make Captain America Captain Russia. His identity and what he loves is changed. How Captain America perceives himself is changed. When David defended God and Israel against Goliath, he Loved God and Israel with his Heart and Soul. David is a Patriot. God in the Bible is God of Israel, Isaac, and Jacob, God of David's Ancestors who lead his people out of Egypt and slavery. God gave David victory over the lions and bears that would try to steal David's lambs away as he was shepherding. Surely that Philistine stood no chance? As Christians we are Children of God. Christianity is transformational. Someone accepts in the Spirit of God, and is baptized. They become part of The Body of Christ. The Family of believers. They become a Child of God. That means something. As a Christian, they are important, and play a role in the Body. They should love God with their Heart and Soul. My Father has a House. Song: "In my Father's House." All are welcome. We are neither Jew nor Gentile. God will take a servant who fears him from any Nation. God likes Glory. Would you like to work to bring God Glory or work for God's Glory?
  6. Ephesians 3:19 - "And to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fulness of God." THERE IS A PLACE GREATER THAN KNOWLEDGE WHERE WE ABIDE IN CHRIST'S LOVE. THIS IS, INDEED, THE STRONGHOLD OF GOD. IT IS A PLACE WHERE OUR KNOWLEDGE OF GOD IS FULFILLED WITH THE SUBSTANCE OF GOD. WE CANNOT TRULY KNOW GOD WITHOUT, IN SOME WAY, ALSO EXPERIENCING HIS PERSON. WE MUST SEEK HIM UNTIL WE PASS THROUGH OUR KNOWLEDGE INTO AN ENCOUNTER WITH THE ALMIGHTY. WE MUST LEARN HOW TO LISTEN TO HIM; AS WE HEAR, OUR CALL IS TO THEN ASCEND HIGHER TO THE DWELLING PLACE OF LOVE THAT FLOODS OUR BEING WITH HIMSELF. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 - "May the God of peace Himself sanctify you wholly; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept sound and blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." Observation: WHEN THE WORD OF GOD IS ABIDING IN ME AND FUNCTIONING PROPERLY, IT WORKS ON ME FIRST BEFORE IT WORKS ON MY CIRCUMSTANCES, "SEPARATING" MY SPIRIT, MY SOUL (MIND, WILL, AND EMOTIONS), AND MY BODY AND GETTING MY SPIRIT INTO A POSITION WHERE I CAN HEAR GOD WITHOUT THE INFLUENCE OF MY SOUL OR BODY. Ephesians 1:17,19,20 - "That He may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the deep and intimate knowledge of Him. And so that you can know and understand what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power in and for us who believe, as demonstrated in the working of His mighty strength. Which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places." The Holy Spirit within the believer ministers truth by revelation. In other words, it is revealed, not figured out. God does not talk to our brains! He speaks to the spirit of man. Jesus never said that water would flow out of your head, but that, "Out of your innermost being would flow rivers of living water." John 7:36 This is the ultimate Christianity -- communication and communion with the Holy Spirit, knowing more and more about Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith. Affirmation: I KNOW THE MIRACLE OF RESURRECTION FOR ME IS -- JESUS IS THE POWER AND THE POWER IS ALWAYS PRESENT -- THAT SAME POWER THAT RAISED JESUS FROM THE DEAD, ENABLES ME TO RISE OUT OF MY ADVERSE CIRCUMSTANCES AND STEP INTO THE PURPOSES OF GOD FOR MY LIFE.
