American churches are embracing Twitter, the micro-blogging website, in an attempt to reach congregations in acts of worship of 140 or fewer characters.

I am just wondering how much more worldly churches and church goers are going to get. I think a real Christian would interrupt a church service and the pastor in this manner. That is why I call them church goers. That is God's house of worship not a country club.

I agree with you - I would be really annoyed to be getting Twitter text messages (no matter how inspiring they were) when I'm in church and trying to concentrate on prayer and the service. I don't even take my Blackberry or phone into to church with me.... silly!!

I don't know - Congregation participation is not a bad thing.

Actually, it can be a good thing.

Most churches strongly discourage cell phones and Blackberrys during services anyway...for those who don't have the good manners required to turn them off. :)
