ok, I will start it, and not having time at this very moment to do all the justice this subject needs, will start by asking a couple questions......

1: what is/was the process of canonization?

2: what were the rules/standards set?

3: what was the reason for it?

4: who was the men/group involved?

5: where did the canonization take place?

6: when did it take place?

7: How long did the process take?

8: how did they come to the conclusion of which books to use and not use?

9: Why did they go about this?

( using the basic, who, what, where, when, why, and how.....)

Canonization, as in, choosing which books should be in the Bible and which shouldn't?

Because when I first read the name of this thread, I thought it was about how people get named saints. :20:

Are we talking about people being canonized as saints? :20:

Actually, we are all saints in the eyes of God:-

Rom 1:7 To all those in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Rom 1:8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is proclaimed in all the world.

.

And there are dozens of other scriptures on the subject.

Blessings

Canonization is a strictly Roman Catholic process. This is not a Roman Catholic site, for questions about this topic you should go to a Roman Catholic web site or ask an informed Catholic. There are some Catholics here but not many.

Ok, is there a way for the OP to change the title of this thread to show that it's about how the Bible canon was settled, and not about how a person gets the title of 'Saint'?

I don't know I bet there is. If we just start talking about the Cannon and how it was established I am sure others will join in.

It is a good topic.
