My library here at Schenectady NY just got the July 31, 2004 issue of "Science News". Thought it would be of interest, so here is the link to it. Unfortunately, one has to be a subscriber to get the full article {i am not, but am borrowing the issue to read the 3 page article}.

The cover gives the text: Big Shot LARGEST SOLAR FLARE EVER RECORDED

Appreciate the post , Brad.

Off and on over the years since i was born again at age 36 in 1980 i have heard arguments for and against absolute meticulous literal interpretation of Scripture. Had one person who was a somewhat preterist give me an article to look at. What i liked about it was that it gave a very literal interpretation of <Matthew 24> and etc. re how part was truly fufilled [ASSUMING secular history is to be trusted] by Titus' destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. But then they did what you just did Brad and said the very non-literal symbology of other Scripture applied.

You and those interpreting Scripture that way may be correct. I personally start with absolute literal interpretations and then go from there.
