Louisiana does not allow anyone but licensed funeral directors and the like to sell caskets. This means there is little to no competition so the prices are ridiculous. While I wouldn't be so keen on seeing one in the local Wal-mart I believe there needs to be more competition. Competition keeps prices low. This is why we have antitrust laws. This is another reason I get irked every time the management tells me they are raising prices to remain "competitive". In my mind lower prices, not higher, make you more competitive.

Well Danny, I guess that joke Morning Glory shared a few weeks is really true: :noidea:

A senior in Louisiana was overheard saying...."When the end of the world comes, I hope to be in Louisiana."

When asked why, he replied, "I rather be in Louisiana, because everything happens in Louisiana 20 years later than in the rest of the civilized world. ...jotful

shoot, I am contiplating building my own pine box.... no law against it.....

I like their no return policy.... what is the reason? my wife was brought back to life and no longer need it....... sorry you still have to use it.

You could get a plot and put it in a concrete valt and cover it up and put in a headstone without a depart date and just have them dig it up when you die. Storage cost would be less that way.

:emot-cheering::emot-bounce: We knew someone who bought a casket and kept it in his garage.... for years!!! It was creepy and I can't even imagine why he purchased this thing 30 years before his death - he told a neighbor it was in a "fire sale"..... :emot-dance:
