I've been evaluating posts and responses to prophetic words, and I thought I'd put this in a separate thread instead of clogging up another one on a specific topic.

A lot of people have ideas and interpretations on what prophets and prophecies are all about.

Thank you so much for sharing this with us.  When one believes that  they have a word from God it takes great courage to speak that word.  Doubt creeps in and you begin to wonder if it's really from God or just your imagination.  Then you wonder what people will think of you if it doesn't happen as you said it prophiezed (sp)!  It takes courage to speak out the word of God in obiedience to him and to ignore our carnal man.

I think that the posts on this thread are both edifying and informative.....

Thanks to both of you

I hate to always be the naysayer....but this is not the way God gave revelation in the Scriptures.

hellllllllll-oooooooo NEBULA----very interesting-----However you made just one slight error----you stated some believe "PROPHECY" ENDED with the "DEATH" of the last of the original 12 disciples of JESUS--YESHUA----"IF" you would turn to the gospel of JOHN-CHPT.21.vss.19.thru.24-----you will discover that JESUS-YESHUA- told peter that JOHN wouldNOT die untill HE-JESUS REturned to this earth..as also rev.chpt.10.vss.10 & 11---ALSO states that JOHN willNOT die

until he has finished his prophecy as one of the two witnesses

that are killed by the anti-christ & their{the two witnesses}

dead bodies lie in the streets for three & 1/2 days-----REV.11-vss.1.thru.8-----I believe the other witness will be ENOCH --thus there is one old testament prophet & one new testament prophet fulfilling the WORD of GOD--------

just some scriptures & some thoughts to ponder for your edification---shadow2b{Gary}--- :read:

Well, I have to admit, you are the first person I ever heard making the claim that the Apostle John never actually died on the Island of Patmos.  That be new to me!

Either way, what I meant was that the argument goes that spiritual gifts (i.e. prophesy) ceased by the end of the first century.  At least, that argument I have heard, however it should be worded most appropriately.  :rofl:

Hey, Shadow -

Oh!  I see what you are saying.  I appologize.  It's about the two witnesses in Rev. prophecying, right?  So, there will be prophecy coming form the two witnesses.

So, are the people claiming that prophecy is not for todaywording it differently than I mentioned?

BTW, you did say, "you will discover that JESUS-YESHUA- told peter that JOHN wouldNOT die untill HE-JESUS REturned to this earth"

But, note John 21:23 - "Because of this, the rumor spread among the brothers that this disciple would not die. But Jesus did not say that he would not die; he only said, 'If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?'" (emphasis mine)

So, I'm a little confused at what you are saying.
