I am convinced that the mysterious woman mentioned in Rev 17 represents the Roman Catholic Church (no offense to those here that are RC).

Hi John,

I think you are right, I believe its Rome ,notice the description , the harlot sit on many waters, controling the great areas of the Gentile world, vs 3 tells us that this is revived Roman Empire, with the headquarters in Rome.

In Christ, Angels

Look at how weak the church has become.  It is now so weak that it cannot even hold itseld together with the same beliefs.  There are 2 churches right now in the Catholic Church.  One of them follows the real Bible the other makes up its own rules.  Just look at Europe the statistics for Catholic clergy there are staggering.  1/3 of them don't even believe Jesus Christ really died and rose again.  Many doubt Mary had a vigin child, and those in higher positions of the church are not even fighting this they are just rolling over and letting it happen.

I used to be Catholic.  But now I am a Fundamentalist Christian Zionist.  I didn't like the lack of faith the priests in my church had when it came to the book of Revelation and the end times.  It seems the Catholic church no longer believes the book of Revelation has divine prophecy that is going to happen, or at least in my church they sure didn't.  I guess they find it easier to preach about all the good stuff and not mention anything that might offend their flock.

I hope I didn't offend any Catholics.  The way I see it, the believers (Catholic people) are beings lead by men with no conviction, essentially unbelievers(large part of the Catholic Clergy) who don't even believe in what they preach.

the mysterious woman is not the Roman Catholic Church.

Interesting!  And, I agree.  She doesn't fit the description.

So, who do you say the Risen Babylon and the Whore are and why?

RCruise, thelight:  Who then would you say the woman is?  Why would you say she doesn't fit the description of the RCC?

Elaborate a bit please.
