There are Bible scholars suggesting that this war has not happened yet, because the nations involved have not united with each other in this fashion yet.

So George just to clarify are you asking if this is the war (that is currently escalating) that pslam 83 is talking about because Egypt is not in on this one? Or am I misunderstanding what you are asking.

David Dolan, a Christian journalist for many years in Israel, wrote precisely about this in his most recent book: Israel in Crisis.  I have it on the new Worthy Books page if you want to read it.

Psalm 83: The Coming War? - Bill Koenig

August 15, 2001

I do believe that a regional war is eminent. Whether superpower influence is induced I wouldn't want to speculate. I do belive also that this just might end up as a world war do to escalating tempers everywhere.

Psalm 83 cannot be made to fit anything in history, so you are right for wondering about this. I believe Psalm 83 and Isaiah 17-18 are the same war, and are not part of the Gog war in Ezekiel 38. I believe this is the war we are greasing the skids for right now. That war should be the one that brings the revived Roman Empire into being. I see nothing ominous about Egypt not being in the war. Isaiah 17 makes it clear that the war will take place in northern Israel.
