And how would you feel if your boss told you what colour to wear ??????

Swiss bankers issued dress code

18 January 2011 03:35am

Swiss bankers may soon be allowed to wear red underwear, black nail polish - and even eat garlic.

Banking giant UBS said is revising its 44-page dress code telling its Swiss staff how to present themselves, which sparked worldwide ridicule for its micro-management of their dressing and dining habits.

The code instructs employees on everything from their breath - no garlic or onions, please - to their underwear, which should be skin-coloured.

"We're reviewing what is important to us," UBS spokesman Andreas Kern said.

He said the bank would issue a pared-down booklet with more general guidelines on how to impress customers with a polished presence and sense of Swiss precision and decorum.

The existing code tells female employees how to apply make-up, what kind of perfume to wear and what colour stockings are acceptable. It advises them not to show roots if they colour their hair and to avoid black nail polish.

"You can extend the life of your knee socks and stockings by keeping your toenails trimmed and filed," Zurich-based UBS told its female staff.

"Always have a spare pair: stockings can be provisionally repaired with transparent nail polish and a bit of luck."

Men are told how to knot a tie, to make sure they get a haircut every month and to avoid unruly beards and earrings.

"Glasses should always be kept clean," the code instructs. "On the one hand this gives you optimal vision, and on the other hand dirty glasses create an appearance of negligence."

We had a dress code, but I don't think I ever heard anyone questioned aobut their underware...... well unless it was missing. We did have a hair code for our equipment was rather dangerous with long hair and when we had to wear ties. Most of us wore clip on ties or just removed them when we started working on a printer. If you got a tie caught in a chain or belt on some of our larger equipment it could pull your head off

OK, I can accept the pantyhose things because runs look unprofessional, garlic and onions because bad breath is bad costumer service -

But no one should be seeing your underwear to know what color it is! ???

Well I looked further into the subject and it seems that the banking industry has taken a serious credibility hit because of the financial problems of the world. USB is trying to upgrade it's employee's over professionalism look and set up guidelines to give their employees a more professional look. they had a tendency to dress a bit casual and some of the ladies were prone to rather tight skirts.

It appears that someone was just brainstorming as to what they should wear and didn't think about the overall view of what they were writing. they were suggesting that ladies wear looser fitting skirts, flesh colored undies and stockings. Makes sense to me, but seeing it in writing looks rather ridiculous.
