The entire Middle-East is a series of powder-kegs with the fuses lit. It's only reasonable to assume that there's going to be a major war sooner or later. I think it will be sooner, and the entire face of the Middle-East could change in a relatively short period of time. According to Bible Prophecy, many of the players who look strong now may be destroyed. Things are ripe for that major war that the Anti-Christ will make a false peace with. The signs around the world indicate that this world is ripe for the ushering in of the Tribulation Period. I personally believe that the Rapture of the Church could happen at any time. I realize there is disagreement about the possible timing of the Rapture, but I believe it's before the beginning of the Tribulation Period. I think immediately of this portion of Scripture:

1 Thessalonians 5:5-11 KJV 5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. 7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. 8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. 9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. 11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

How much more will the Church be here to see? I obviously don't know, but I think that the time is growing near for major Bible Prophecy to be fulfilled. As for Christians, our part is to pray for strength, encouragement, and determination to do God's Will until the last moment. I didn't post this for the purpose of debating a Pre, Mid, or Post Tribulation Rapture. Our duties as Christians remain the same regardless of the timing of the Rapture, so:

I was wondering how far this would spread and who was next. Time will tell!

It does seem like they are trying for a caliphate doesn't it and one that they will get. I have thought for years now that the Ottoman empire would come again, I personally don't think its a revived roman empire thats coming but the ottoman islamic one. The brotherhood can effectively cut off both the Med. and the sea lanes for trade and oil when they are done.

Who are the "they" in all this? There's no hidden hand behind this, just lots of unhappy citizens taking to the streets and challenging their governments. It's not unprecedented for this sort of thing to happen. People see demonstrations against the state happening successfully in a neighbouring state and decide to do the same itself. Europe in 1848 and to a degree in 1989 are two examples. The article itself gives a reasonable analysis of the driving forces this and doesn't start indulging in fantasies about the return of the Caliphate.

As to the new Ottoman stuff, well, Arabs and most others in the region have few happy folk memories of that.

I believe that islam was the seventh beast, and since the last beast that rises is the last and eight beast is an image of the seventh and since I believe it was islam that received the deadly wound they are regrouping and with the help of the west islam thats exactly what is happening. Islam would have taken decades longer without the help of the western nations, the greed for oil and other riches gave fuel to the fire of islam. Code Pink was all over the news with the flottilla thing come out of the Turkey one of its biggest sponsers code pink by its own admission would like to 'cleanse' their society, they and others have been in league with islam for awhile now. Islam has its own brand of 'social justice' hence the reasoning behind obama and others who have a progressive ideal of how the world should work. Go and listen to the last few years of Armidenjhad, and others when they called for the caliphate, Iran thought they would set it all up in Iraq at one point, its not indulging fantasies but a reality that islam wants. I understand from reading many of your posts that you feel theres nothing odd at all going on even if the bible tells us these things are going to happen and we are all entitled to our opinions just hope what comes around doesn't catch you unawares and in its grip.

There are hardly Shia in Egypt so I'm not too sure how they managed to get so many people on the street. And since they are hated by the Muslim Brothers who see them as apostates, a status far worse than that of Christian infidels I don't see how this ties with the scare that the MB are about to take over. Assuming you refer to Twelver Shi-ism (there are also Sixer and Sevener Shia - who are less numerous and have their own odd esoteric beliefs), well their waiting for the Twelfth Iman who has been living in hiding somewhere since 869 AD to pop up and bring peace and justice to the world. The main Shia state Iran was historically the main enemy of the Ottoman Empire.

The Caliphate fans are various Sunni Islamist groups who do want to create a Islamic state in the areas of the world with a Muslim majority, a state that has no place for the Shia.

The people can tell by their accents and the way they look.
