Untold Missions Story: Mexico Drug Violence Driving People to Jesus Christ

By Evelyn Cook , Christian Post Contributor

February 16, 2012|9:54 am

When missionaries and pastors serving in Mexico discuss drug violence, a common theme emerges. People are suffering and dying in terrible ways, they say, but the fear this creates is driving unprecedented numbers of Mexicans – especially teens and twenty-somethings – into the arms of Christ.

<snip>

"Since the violence got worse, we've seen God moving in a big way. More people are coming to the churches and the churches are doing better financially. There's a great unity between the churches we've never seen before. Before the violence started getting really bad, attendance at our church in Matamoros was going way down and so was our income. Now we're growing in both numbers and finances and doing well."

Mexicans are more religious then Americans. The Spansih speaking Churches in our area are wonderful and friendly.

Yes there is a lot of Catholicism, and religion. I don't want to turn this into another catholic thread, but there are a lot of people who need to be liberated from that 'religion' and into the truth of the gospel.

Amen to that sister, I was thinking the exact same thing when I was reading the post. However it is a foot in the door, lets pray that they will see the truth in the gospel and get on the right path.

Candice I know some people in the Church did bad things, but is the religion bad? Don't they teach the gospel in general? (I don't know much about it.)

Well I read the article and it is great that these people are turning to the Jesus Christ. Unless I missed it, I can't tell if these are Catholic Churches or Protestant Churches, but it is still good their getting the word.

Do I get an A on my test. :laugh:
