Now this year, atheists are pitting the image of Jesus being crucified against one of a smiling Santa Claus on a giant billboard in Times Square proclaiming “Keep the Merry!” and “Dump the Myth!” “We know that a large population of ‘Christians’ are actually atheists who feel trapped in their family’s religion,” said David Silverman, president of American Atheists, the group responsible for the display. “If you know god is a myth, you do not have to lie and call yourself ‘Christian’ in order to have a festive holiday season. You can be merry without the myth, and indeed, you should. We encourage people to be honest with themselves and their families this year. If you don’t believe in god, tell your family – honesty is the greatest gift, and they deserve it.” Teresa MacBain, a former pastor who is now communications director for American Atheists added, “The true beauty of the season – family, friends, and love – have nothing to do with the gods of yesteryear. Indeed, the season is far more enjoyable without the religious baggage of guilt and judgmentalism. Dump the myth and have a happy holiday season.” http://www.wnd.com/2012/12/crucified-jesus-vs-santa-in-times-square/

"the true beauty of the season" is paganism. God-forbid anyone bring up the hero of the world and make sinners feel guilty. their time will come. all will kneel to the King of Kings.. Guest ninhao
2Pe 3:3-9 KJV Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, (4) And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. (5) For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: (6) Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: (7) But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. (8) But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. (9) The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Guest Editor1
Wait, who is the myth here, Santa or Jesus? The whole thing is silly. There's always been ample room for both. Just another special interest group trying to score some points with the public. I've never tried to restrict Christmas to only those who profess to be Christians. Christmas, like any holiday, is for everyone.

I will say it again, and this time to Mr. Silverman, speak for yourself. The meaning of Christmas has been lost on the US and many Christians for sometime now. The materialism of Christmas is what is celebrated in this country, not the birth of our Savior. Easter too. We Christians must get back to the fundamentals of our faith. Celebrate the Birth of Christ and His Death and Resurrection. What do gifts, Christmas lights, Christmas parties, trees etc. have to do with our Savior anyway? This may sound like a contradiction and that's not my intention. But, we need to put Christ first and foremost in our celebration this season. Gifts, decorations, fellowship are fun, but let's try to remember why we are doing it and be a little more modest in our behavior.
