Guest man
Most Americans aren't spiritual enough to worship an idol in a strictly religious sense, but they still worship idols without even knowing that they are idols. My point exactly.
Guest man
Is money an idol? Mat 6:24 "No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money. Then what of Wall Street and the money market, sub prime lending, etc? Funny you should mention Wall Street.

Can for instance a person be an idol, a possession, a habit, etc? What you worship is what you put your faith in - note that in Hebrew, the word for "faith" actually means "strong trust." The number one idol of the modern Western world is human reason and intellect. (Note this when arguing with atheists.) "Strong trust" is also placed on money. More lately, and sadly, "strong trust" is being placed in the government - but that;s another debate.

After some reflection, I think that another and very overlooked idol, are/is beliefs that people become entrenched in (bad grammar sorry) I think people can make idols out of their own opinion....both Christian and non Christian This is a newer reflection for me....think I will examine myself on this one too

Yes, a person can be an Idol. Anything or anyone that you place in your life before God is an Idol and that can include yourself.

God says to have no idols before him. You can't worship both God and something/someone else at the same time.

Guest man
Everyone has their own opinion on what an idol is. What does the bible say an idol is? Scripture would be appreciated. Thanks.
