Just adding perspective here.

They don't need to pat down old women or little children, and they have some of the safest airports in the world.

Back then people going on domestic flights weren't checked for anything, only on International flights. This video seems to be a domestic flight. Nevertheless, it seems we have reached a day and age where a bomb or weapon can be brought on board any flight, by anyone, and for any reason. We just don't know anymore, and we can no longer assume anyone is innocent. Not that a 3 year old would be culpable in such a thing, but the adults with her could have used her, her chair, or 1 of her toys to bring a bomb on board. So while I admit this could have been handled better, such things must be done nowadays. I remember several years ago when 2 passengers brought on a plane what appeared to be some kind of fruit juice to drink. But someone decided to question it, and these 2 liquids when mixed together would explode. So we have to check everything and every body. Even children. Just sayin. And I agree with tinky, actually doing some profiling would help, but Im not convinced it will solve the problem.
