Alot of threads all have a 1 as though someone just 1ed them all

Am I paranoid? No worries...I'm chuckling about it :)

I don't even know how to do that, or what it would mean.

theyre called reputation points. If you look at someone elses post, on the right side by the number, there is an arrow that points up. If you like what that person has to say in that post, you click that arrow, and that person gets a reputation point, and in that box, that number 1, or whatever it is, is how many people have liked it. You will notice some will have a 2 or 3 or more.

I have noticed the reputation points being given for a long time. And i'm sure that they are being given because the mystery point giver feels that it is a nice thing to do and all deserve a point for their post.

I think there's a limit on the number of rep points one can give in a certain amount of time, S.S. But don't quote me on that. Btw, I just gave you one for pointing out how we can show our approval of a post without posting a response. :mgbowtie:

:soapbox:

I don't personally like these rep points, it turns this into a popularity contest of sorts, which is not what they are intended for. The reason behind them is to click on the up arrow if you agree with what the poster posted. showing approval or agreement. Some click on every post, good or bad, for some reason. Perhaps it is because they have voiced their opinion? Not sure why.

The problem is, the agreement is not based on whether or not the post has sound biblical reasoning, but if someone agreed with them. This may be misleading to some who follow the idea that more points they have means they have the correct answers. I wish the site would do away with them, requiring the reader to focus on the content and not the points given.

I'll step down off my soapbox now ...

I see the good and bad of Rep Points, on one hand it can be a source of pride, and on the other hand it can be a blessing and edification to know if your posts meant something to someone, I am always self-conscience when I check my Rep Points knowing that the staff knows what I am doing, btw, I check my Rep Points and posts of mine that got the point often. You're so vain......

personally, I could care less about them, to be honest. I was joking around with them in chat awhile back, but thats about all theyre good for for me. Sometimes its interesting to go through my history and see who likes what more, its definetly interesting in the music forum seeing what music videos were popular and which ones were a waste of time to post lol. but overall, their their, they don't bother me one way or the other.
