How do you deal with someone who plainly lies?

I understand what you are saying and have experienced it as well. I'm very blunt so I have no problem calling someone out, I find the direct approach works best for me, even if it ruffles feathers.

hmmmm...would this be actual words you have spoken or are they reading what you wrote somewhere and then speaking it like original thought?

I agree though, that would be unpleasant. My reaction would depend on who that person is to me...a friend, good friend, relative or just acquaintance, + how often they did it

Depending on who they are, I would either make a joke about it or be more careful of what I share or, if just an acquaintance, i g n o r e. I try to be flexible ;)

Just some trivia about lying that we were taught when I wore a uniform and we did body language stuff....

It is not always the case but is a good indicator. (next time you watch a politician on TV see how it looks, one that has not been schooled that is).

A person who is lying often glances down and to the left when talking. A person thinking about an answer usually looks up and to the right.......

Try it and see.... (as I said, an indicator, no more than that).

Do you think that person is being condescending or baiting you?

Speak the truth. It will shine the light on the lie and expose it for what it is. Don't allow what someone else does to anger you. When you do, you are actually giving control over you to this person.

I agree completely, you can broach the subject subtly I suppose, but either way it will continue until you do. It is best not to carry around resentment or even anger, these can lead to you stumbling.
