Why do we think these phrases are passages in the Bible? One reason is people haven’t read or don’t actually know what is in the Bible. Another reason is sometimes we use what we perceive as Biblical truth to reinforce own pre-existing beliefs or what has been taught to us. Yet some of these phrases do at times reflect Biblical truth or concepts. Sometimes, however the phrases are a result of folk wisdom or cultural use of the terms.

According to wikipedia, no.  It's origins are supposed to come from Persian poets.  In the poem, a king was humbled by these simple little words.

No, it is not in the Bible (that I know of). There are several verses that probably allude to that sort of thing, though. My favorite would be:

Mat 24:35  Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

This phrase is not found anywhere in the Bible. It is a bit of folk wisdom wrongly attributed to Scripture. The origin of this phrase supposedly comes from Persian poet Attar of Nishapur (1145-1221) a Muslim poet and influential with the Sufi tradition within Islam.

The verse was made popular in the early 19th century when it was included in a collection of short stories by English poet Edward Fitzgerald. Abraham Lincoln is said to have used it in a speech made before he became president.

Perhaps the most famous person to misquote its origin was football great Mike Ditka. The legendary NFL coach was giving a news conference the day after being fired as head coach of the Chicago Bears, and he decided to quote the Bible. A choked-up Ditka said, through his tears, “Scripture tells you that all things shall pass. This too shall pass.”

Whatever problems we face are transitory. Part of the tests of this life is to develop our faith in perseverance.

James 1:2-4

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Christ has overcome the world.

1 John 4:4
You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

God bless,

GE

Someone once said to me when I was going through a hard time:

"This too shall pass! . . . And then something else will come up."
