The real cost of a dog may be out weighed by the benefit most times.

Just got a new dog, he's a almost 1 year old German Shepherd named kado. Bought him from a coworker who had to give him up since he was moving. The lab in the picture is duke, my other dog. I was trying to get a good photo of both but they wouldn't cooperate

They are both beautiful.  You give those furry kids of yours a big hug from their Auntie Rusty/ Faith!

I have never bought a dog or cat, but I somehow wound up with a bunch of orhpaned cats.  I wish my cat food bill was only $30 a month.  I spend more than that in a week, taking care of the cats in the house as well as strays that come around looking for food.  Yes, pets are very expensive.

- I was  'an animal lover' having multiple pets at a time over most my life. . . . but a few years back my allergies just could not take having animals any longer.

So after the last dog died at the age of 15, I was relieved physically and financially.

And when contemplating retirement on the deck one day and about paying off the mortgage before retirement.

I started adding up all the cost of loving all those pets and I suddenly became sick to my stomach; realizing that if I put that money in the bank instead of on pets?

I could have had the exact amount of money to pay off my house taking an even earlier retirement. Yes, it would've summed up to about $40,000.00

- Young people starting out on their own should be given financial advice on this.

Love takes Loot. Choose wisely between sacrificing it for animals, or others.

I love dogs no matter what they cost.  My wife and I have had up to four, but now we have two.  Jake, one of our two Pomeranians, loves the Empire Carpet commercial, especially the jingle.

"3. God enjoys animals

In Psalm 104:31, the psalmist declared, “Let the Lord be glad in his works.” Clearly the statement speaks broadly of all that God has created, but it is preceded by a long description of God’s interaction with animals—wild goats, rock badgers, beasts of the forest, young lions, animals both small and great (see vv. 18-30). In a few more verses, the psalmist used this same word translated “glad” to describe his own joy in God. He said emphatically, “I shall be glad in the Lord” (Ps. 104:34)."

"Jesus also gave us insight into God’s attitude toward animals."

This is a fun post.

I do not know how I would live where I live in the boon docks without my pets.

Pets bring life into a home.

I thank the Lord for the possibility of bringing me animals in my life to care for.

They have taught me and keep teaching me a lot about life.

Thank you Father God for giving us animals in this world to care for !   :  )

My wife and I have had multiple dogs since we decided to add our first dog to the family.  [My wife and I have lost two children during pregnancy and gave-up that pursuit.]  So with our second dog, we have had a maximum of four and as few as two dogs.  We are in debt but I don't care.  The joy my dogs have given us is absolutely priceless.  God has really blessed us with the dogs we've had and those we still have.
