One of Americas favorite military fiction authors, famous for his books such as the hunt for red October and Splinter Cell, died Monday at age 66. Sad news, he also did a few non fiction books such as every man a tiger. Very talented author.

Aren't some popular video games based on some of his novels too?  Seems "Splinter Cell" is a video game.  But not sure.

Correct, ghost recon is another. Several were made into movies as well, such as the hunt for red October and Patriot Games.

Very talented man.  I loved Clear and Present Danger.....Harrison Ford I think was in that one.

Clear and present danger was tom Clancy as well-excellent movie loved Harrison ford in it. You may not know this but the hunt for red October and clear and present danger were all from the same book series following jack Ryan (portrayed by Alec Baldwin in red October, ford in patriot games and clear and present danger and Ben affleck in the sum of all fears)

Not a clue. I heard it awhile back.

"Thus he has Arab terrorists attacking the United States in his 1991 novel The Sum of All Fears (the baddies were changed to neo-Nazis in the 2002 film version to avoid troublesome political waters), and he was a constantly talking head on television screens in the days after 9/11, having predicted a similar disaster in his 1994 novel Debt of Honour, in which several senior politicians are killed when a terrorist crashes a jetliner into the US Capitol (albeit a Japanese terrorist)".

"Hunt for Red October" is one of my all time favorite movies.I've also read the book several times.  It's such a good storyline it makes one wonder if it might have actually happened...
