Is it possible to walk away from every temptation

True, we are sanctified only through the grace of our precious Lord Jesus, but..(1.) Can we honestly walk away from every temptation thrown at us so that we do not sin.  (2.) Do we have ultimate strength through the Holy Spirit to turn from every temptation. The reason I'm asking is because some do not believe in once saved always saved (OSAS). Some might say, "well we have free will to walk away from temptation."  (3.) Is it our free will or God's convictions that help us to walk away from temptation. I would like to turn the tables and think outside the box here. God demands us to live a holy life inside our bodies. (4.) So how perfect and holy can we really get inside our bodies. (James 2:17) (5.) Is it at all possible to avoid being dragged away into our own evil desires through prayer? (6) Are we suppose to be praying every day for sanctification inside our bodies. (7.) Is temptation and testing from different spiritual forces. (Yes it is). So with thread I would like to focus on four main ingredients...

(1.) holiness  (2.) body (3.) temptation/testing (4.) perfection...wherever there is a christian walking away from temptation and sin, there is indeed persecution at every corner, either from peers or the devil. Consider yourself blessed when persecution arises. So......are we ready to fight.........for our BODIES?! Blessings. - DRS81

Romans 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship.

1 Cor 6:19-20 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.

James 1:2-18 Trials and Temptations - 2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4 Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6 But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does. 9 The brother in humble circumstances ought to take pride in his high position. 10 But the one who is rich should take pride in his low position, because he will pass away like a wild flower. 11 For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed. In the same way, the rich man will fade away even while he goes about his business. 12 Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. 13 When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; 14 but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. 16 Don't be deceived, my dear brothers. 17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. 18 He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first-fruits of all he created.

Does that include sinful "thoughts"? I think it's possible to turn away from every temptation physically (even though it might take a life time to come to that point) but not mentally. In my opinion...

Is it possible to walk away from every temptation

1 Corinthians 10

13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

Yes it is possibe so long as one is walking in the Spirit to not fall to any temptation.   It is only by His power that we can avoid successfully defeat temptation to sin.   No one falls into sin.  You fall into tempation, but you choose to sin.

The problem that we have an ongoing inward war and the best of us fall from time to time, that is why we have grace.  Grace isn't for the folks that get it right all of the time.  Grace is for the rest of us who stumble in a sincere attempt at serving the Lord.

1 Corinthians 10

Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted.

And do not become idolaters as were some of them. As it is written, "The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play."

Nor let us commit sexual immorality, as some of them did, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell;

nor let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents;

10 nor complain, as some of them also complained, and were destroyed by the destroyer.

11 Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.

12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.

13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

What's your point???

"Trials and adversity" comes when we give in to temptation. So even if the verse read as follows, it still means temptation.

No "trial" or "adversity" has overtaken you except such as is common to man.....

Everything prior to verse 13 speaks of the consequences of falling into temptation.

Yes trials  and adversity are what is overtaking a person and God has set a limit on the duration and intensity of those trials.   This passage is not talking about falling into a temptation to sin.  If anything it is revelation of God's sovereignty in our affairs that even in our trials, He is governing and keeping us being destroyed by those trials.  They cannot overtake us to the point that we can not bear them and are crushed by them.

This is same word used the same way in Matthew  when Jesus prayed, "lead us not into temptation."  The word is not referring to a solicitation to do evil.  It refers to hardship and adversity, hence the antithetical parallelism, "lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil."   In modern English, lead us not into trials but deliver us from the evil schemes of the enemy."   Thus the trials spoken of are those that are sent by  the enemy.

The point in I Cor.10:13 is that there is nothing the enemy can do to us that God is not faithfully helping us to overcome.

Yeah, that verse is pretty much self explanatory. That's why I used it.
