Is Daniel 9:27 referring to past, present or future?

 

"Seventy 'sevens' are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy. 25 "Know and understand this: From the issuing of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, the ruler, comes, there will be seven 'sevens,' and sixty-two 'sevens.' It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble. 26 After the sixty-two 'sevens,' the Anointed One will be cut off and will have nothing. The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed. 27 He will confirm a covenant with many for one 'seven.' In the middle of the 'seven' he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on a wing [of the temple] he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him. "

This very covenant is possibly in the works as I type this.  John Kerry is involved, the Pope is involved.  It is a 9 month process, which I find odd seeing how that's how long a woman is pregnant.

Futurism through this highly imaginative and fictional Left Behind series has unleashed a tsunami sized tidal wave of false Prophecy, which is sweeping over the entire world. I mean, everyone believes movies and books, right? Thus we now have all this false teaching circulating on some illusory secret rapture and seven year tribulation period as many have taken these books as being primarily true and teach them as if they are Biblical truth even though these books are fictional.

 

And just to clarify since some have misunderstood in the past. Yes the Bible does say we go through tribulation but we are not told how long. Scripture says that “except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved.” (Matthew 24:21-22) And yes scripture does teach there will be a second coming of Christ that many refer to as the rapture, but the word rapture is not found in the Bible and nor does it teach that it will be secret.

25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

 

When Bible prophecy is symbolic, the proven and established day for a year principle applies. (See Ezekiel 4:6 and Numbers 14:34) So Daniel’s 70 weeks (490 days) is actually a literal 490 years. Daniel 9:25 informs us that these 70 prophetic weeks began with the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem.

1260 days is in connection with the last seven years of the 70 week prophecy. 1260 days is in connection with (Daniel 9:27 one week = 7 years great tribulation). 7 divided in half is 3.5 and 3.5 years is 1260 days. Which means the church of Israel will hide in the wilderness on earth for 3.5 years. I believe this is the first half of the great tribulation because the antichrist makes a covenant in the second half of the great tribulation. Rev 12:6 The woman fled into the wilderness to a place prepared for her by God, where she might be taken care of for 1,260 days. Rev 13:5 The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise his authority for forty-two months.

And the host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised and prospered.

 

Daniel 12:11 - And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

The date for the decree to rebuild Jerusalem was given by Artaxerxes in 457 B.C. (Ezra 7:13). Remember this date was also the beginning of the 490 years God gave Israel to end their rebellion and so the 490 year probation period ended in A.D. 33 when Stephen was stoned  Daniel 9:24-25 informs us the Messiah  would be anointed after a total of                 69 (7 + 62) of these prophetic weeks had passed. That is 483 years (490-7) from the 457 B.C. decree date and brings us to the year A.D. 26. This was the exact year Jesus was baptized by John and the Holy Spirit anointed Him for His ministry.

The prophecy  is  that the Messiah would appear in A.D. 26. The Jewish probation period was 70 weeks but Jesus appears as the “Messiah” after 69 weeks. So the 70^th and final week is left for Christ to minister before the Jews probation ended. What happened in this 70^th and final week?

 

The “midst of the week” is half of 7 days being of course 3.5 prophetic days, which is 3.5 literal yearsbeing the time from the baptism of Jesus to His crucifixion.

 

When they crucified Jesus in the spring of A.D. 30, the temple veil was rent from top to bottom, (Matthew 27:51) which signified the end of the sacrificial system. By His own death Jesus caused the “sacrifice and the oblation to cease.” The remaining 3.5 literal years brings us to the end of the 70 weeks and the Jewish probation.

 

The disciples laboured preached to the  Jews during those three and a half years and in A.D. 33, the 70 weeks ended when Stephen was stoned

“the people of the prince” refers to in Daniel 9:26 is the destruction of “the city and the sanctuary” applies to the second destruction of Jerusalem by Roman armies under Prince Titus in 70 A.D.

Are you saying that the 1260 days and 1290 days are the same abomination of desolation ?
