Judging atheists

What does the Bible say about judging atheists.

The Bible is strange about judgment...test the spirits vs Matt 7:1

Where does it say we have authority to test atheists,

because scripture says we can test false prophets.

Are atheists considered false prophets since they flat out deny the Word?

Can we judge their sin or judge their teachings?

As far as I am aware, most Atheists don't make future predictions, so I guess they don't count as false prophets.

If we see sin from an atheist, how do we approach them.

John 3:16-18

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

KJV

1 John 5:1

5 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

KJV

You can judge whoever you like, but be aware you will be judged by the standard you judge other by (Matt 7:2)

When I talk to people about Jesus, I often ask them a question....

Who would you say Jesus is to you?

Based on the answer, I have an idea where they stand and I can enter the discussion based on their answer. For an atheist, it is highly likely that I will judge their answer and determine that they need to hear the gospel.

It depends what you mean by judgment. I don't think it's wrong to weigh a man's character and decide whether he's the sort of person I want to be spending time with, be that person atheist or otherwise. Paul said in 1 Corinthians that bad company ruins good morals, and I don't think anyone can disagree with that. Most of my atheist friends are broken into two categories- those that don't give a monkeys about faith, and so don't challenge mine. But then there's the militant atheist, who is offended by the very idea of a deity who could judge him/her. Those are the kind that insult the Bible and God, and could get a newly saved Christian questioning there faith. So I wouldn't spend time with that kind of atheist.

We absolutely cannot judge another man's sin, be him atheist, Sikh, Muslim or any other faith. I often some up salvation by mentioning the Trinity- God the Father sent God the Son to preach the Gospel and die for our sins. God the Son was raised and sent God the Spirit to dwell inside all believers. This enables man to testify about God coherently. See how it's all God, God, God. Man had nothing to do with salvation, so we can't boast of it and judge the unsaved. I'm only saved because Jesus called me to Salvation. How can I judge if I can't even say I saved myself? I know it sounds obvious, but the only difference between an atheist and us is God.

If they are considered prophets, they would be the prophets of nought. Whats really to judge concerning athiests?

An athiest would be considered that which is without, even Paul speaks of those which are without,

1 Cr 5:12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?

An athiest then is not one which calls himself a brother (or as one who is within). Theres not much to discern but unbelief. It says the fool says in his heart there is no God. But agreeing with that is not judging them but rather aproving the word of truth. Being justified in ones sayings according to the scripture of truth, and especially in those things where men are without excuse.

To judge those who are without of what really? Unbelief maybe?

I wouldnt know how someone would do that anyway.

At least Paul clarifies who he was speaking of and that applies to those within (not without) or that which calls himself a brother as he goes on to say.

But if we know someone who is comitting fornication for example or drinking every day and nobody says anything, then is that the way of God.

Love the fornicator and the alcoholic until he/she impregnants someone or their liver goes bad.

That's ok though, I loved them in the end and didn't judge them.

Just share what will not enter the Kingdom of God.

Says dont be deceived concerning who will not enter the Kingdom of God, its not judging anyone decalring the truth of that.
