No matter what cultrure man is brought up in, he always wonders where he came from...You all should reasearch creation myths...they are fascinating, and it will put Genesis in context...One only needs the wisdom to seek, without self influence, the answers to the evident questions that lie before us! In your case, though, you should pay attention to how the Genesis account differs from the others. Does difference impart legitimacy? I would simply ask whether you view them on the same level of plausibility? Though I agree that many are fascinating, from my perspective one is capable of applying a sense of reasoned judgment as to the possibility. Interesting that the NY Times ran an article on an investigation by a number of physicists as to the universe being a computer simulation...fascinating hypothesis. Though it causes one pause as to why a computer simulation, thus computer programmer, has the validity to be researched when “intelligent design” is so easily dismissed as unscientific. JerryR34 - No self inflluence is not possible. Do you believe you would be a Christian if you had grown up in China? Since I didn't grow up in China it would be sort of pointless to state either yes or no...though the point is well taken. However there does exist an ever growing number of Chinese becoming Christian, just as there are any number going in many different directions from their "roots". Actually, many of us are well versed in other creation stories. Why assume because a Christian believes in God as He is revealed in the Bible, that we know little else? If a person comes to belief at the age of 40 or 50, it would seem they have other knowledge...not the same as wisdom....
