The practical value of gazing on God's Glory is transformation in the beholder.

2 Cor 3:17-18:

Now YHWH is the Spirit: and where the Spirit of YHWH is, there is liberty.  But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of YHWH, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from YHWH the Spirit.

I translate  (ὁ) κύριος, (ho) kyrios as YHWH on the grounds that ( ὁ) κύριος is used by NT where the OT has YHWH and in the case of 2 Cor 3:17-18, the context refers back to YHWH in the OT.  The Bible is our mirror in which we may behold the Glory of God, either as such or in the Lord Jesus, who manifests the Glory of God.

Habakkuk 3 has one very profound passage showing God's Glory.

God  came from Teman,
    And the Holy One from mount Paran.    [selah.
    His glory covered the heavens,
    And the earth was full of his praise.
4     And his brightness was as the light;
    He had  rays coming forth  from his hand;
    And there was the hiding of his power.
5     Before him went the pestilence,
    And  fiery bolts went forth at his feet.
6     He stood, and measured the earth;
    He beheld and drove asunder the nations;
    And the eternal mountains were scattered;
    The everlasting hills did bow;
     His goings were as of old.
7     I saw the tents of Cushan in affliction;
    The curtains of the land of Midian did tremble.
8     Was Jehovah displeased with the rivers?
    Was thine anger against the rivers,
    Or thy wrath against the sea,
    That thou didst ride upon thy horses,
    Upon thy chariots of salvation?
9     Thy bow was made quite bare;
     The oaths to the tribes were a sure word.    [selah.
    Thou didst cleave the earth with rivers.
10     The mountains saw thee, and   were afraid;
    The tempest of waters passed by;
    The deep uttered its voice,
    And lifted up its hands on high.
11     The sun and moon stood still in their habitation,
    At the light of thine arrows as they went,
    At the shining of thy glittering spear.
12     Thou didst march through the land in indignation;
    Thou didst thresh the nations in anger.
13     Thou   wentest forth for the salvation of thy people,
      For the salvation of thine anointed;"

" 2 And Malach YHWH appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.  3 And Moses said, I will turn aside now, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.  4 And when YHWH saw that he turned aside to see, God called to him out of the midst of the bush,"

< Exodus 3

Our God is a consuming fire.  In Rev 1,  of the Lord Jesus it is said, "his eyes were as a flame of fire;"

The bush was not consumed.  The Lord Jesus sees right through us, & He can cleanse us from sin (fire is penetrating & destructive).  Of course He can remove our dross, but not destroy our gold.  We may have an encounter with those eyes at the Bema, Judgment Seat of Christ.

Malach YHWH has been translated "The Angel of the LORD," but Malach means messenger (whether human or supernatural).  A comparison of all the passages indicates that this Malach is a probably preincarnate appearance of the Lord Jesus.
