http://www.wnd.com/2014/04/is-common-core-really-mush-for-students/

Finally! People are starting to fight back against "Common Core". For those of you who do not know what common core is should really read this article and watch the video. We as Christians should especially be concerned about this being implemented in our schools. For those of you who think that this is a good thing (and i am sure there are those who do) should really consider the implications that it will have on your child. In any society that is made up of free enterprise and values freedom this program is a disaster. If implemented in our schools our children will be essentially brainwashed. I know, you don't have to comment on it is just standardizing tests and giving everyone the same material to learn from. If that is your thoughts on the subject I would strongly suggest doing alot of research on the subject  When you throw away individualism and creativity in exchange for conformity and doing what one is told with no questions, then there is a serious problem. That is not to mention the impact that it will have on the ability of parents to choose what their own children learn or do not learn. Once common core is implemented you can say goodbye to homeschooling your children, it will be the next thing out the window. People of faith should very concerned, we should all be on the front lines fighting this nonsense.

This is just another step in the social experiment that was started years ago in our schools.

We've been fighting it ever since it was first implemented here in our schools in Louisiana. That's one thing that's disappointed me with our Governor Bobby Jindal. He's a staunch supporter of Common Core. :(

We Christians need to intensify our prayers for those in governmental authority.

Blessings Love......

Oh boy,I think I listened to 35 or 40 minutes of nothing,,,,it seems nobody is very clear on what exactly is the "common core"except that they are going to have one HS diploma which is academic, kids will either drop out or get into college with the lower standards to enable kids to get into college that are not prepared for the real world or to think for themselves as individuals ,it is not about education at all(....it is about a One World Government that will create an assembly line of robotic humans that say"okay" to whatever they are told

Maybe I have the wrong picture but that is what I gathered from the whole film.........Lord help us to be that One Nation Under God !

                                                                                                                                              With love-in Christ,Kwik

Like everything else common core is simply a tool. It doesn't matter what tool you use or what tool you fight against nothing will change until you get rid of the people holding the tool. If you get rid of this tool and keep the People the next tool will have the same effect

The more populous area of our state has been taken over by socialism and immoral values. We are unable to withstand the tseunomi of liberalism. We have common core being implimented soon and school districts as well as parents are having the right to chose curriculem taken from them.

I am ready for seceeding to join a neighboring state that is more conservative.

Just keep in mind that Common Core is simply a testing process......   the problem lies within who makes the tests for that drives the things that have to be taught..

Please let us not focus on the testing process and let the people who are driving the tests into a ditch go on to the next process and do the same.

I worked for the Chicago Public Schools for 11 years. The last 4 years they were starting to really push common core. That was a part of my breaking point for why I did not want to stay in the public school system. I now work at a daycare. I do not miss having to assistant with teaching the test. It was so stressful.

I thought is was ridiculous that children who are in 3rd grade who were taking the ISAT test was being asked to not only solve the math problem, but they are also asked to write in detail how they got their answer.

It was already bad enough that they are taking the test for the first time. Many of them still have not grasp the concept of how to use the answer sheet to grid in the answers. So, now they have to write in detail how they come up with that answer? I sensed much frustration with the 3rd graders.

Common Core has taken away from the teachers own ideas. I pray for our school system in this country.

So much mis(dis)information flying around.  Common Core is nothing more than a set of standard things a child should know at the completion of a particular grade level.  It is not even a testing process, the test that are being used to track it were already in place, like the ISAT mentioned above.

There is no Common Core curriculum or something that is being taught to everyone.  How an individual school district arrives at the goal is totally up to them.

A couple of examples of what common core really is..

Here are some 6th grade standards for math..

Fluently add, subtract, multiply, and divide multi-digit decimals using the standard algorithm for each operation. Find the greatest common factor of two whole numbers less than or equal to 100 and the least common multiple of two whole numbers less than or equal to 12. Understand ordering and absolute value of rational numbers.

The bottom line is our school system as a whole stinks and our students are losing ground every year.  Common Core was developed by states because of this very real fact.  The leaders at the state level thought that our students should be higher than 36th in the world.
