The only way to begin to know which day of the week the Passover took place is to know the year of the Crucifixion, and thereby the lunar cycle for that year.

Historical data from the Old World is simply insufficient to provide the year. People argue about the year as much as they argue about the day. Non-traditional information is excluded from consideration, so the problem remains.

While I agree with the premise of the first post, that Friday would not suffice to fulfill three days and three nights, that still does not answer the question of whether Thursday or Wednesday was the day. There is no clear biblical evidence that Jesus rose in the morning of Sunday, only that he was risen by then. So the Wednesday Crucifixion is well within the range of possibility. Remember, Jesus was likely buried right about sunset, what with dying at 3 PM, and then the going back and forth to Pilate to get permission for the body, etc. So Wednesday PM/Thursday AM, Thursday/Friday, and Friday PM/Saturday AM cover the three nights, if the Crucifixion took place on Wednesday. Resurrection could have taken place right at or soon after sunset Saturday, for all we know.

That about sums it up, working from the data currently acceptable.

Yes I agree as three nights seal the deal!

If Jesus died and was buried just before sunset Friday, that will make one night and one day from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset. Then Saturday sunset to Sunday sunset would be another day and night, but Jesus rose from the dead on Saturday night, just before Sunrise Sunday Morning according to John 20:1.

"And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun." (Mark 16:2),

"Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils" (Mark 16:9),

"Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them." (Luke 24:1),

"The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre." (John 20:1),

What happened to the other one or two days and nights Jesus said He would be in the tomb????

Jesus does not lie! Nor does Jesus try to dupe or confuse His followers! Were are these missing days and nights?????

Christ said he would be three days and three nights in the grave. This should prove it.

He died on Wednesday and was put in the tomb before sunset that day.

He remained dead Wednesday night, all day Thurssay, Thursday night, all day Friday, Friday Night, and all day Saturday.

He was resurrected early morning of the first day of the week, Sunday, so looks like its "Good Wednesday from now on instead of Good Friday.

Unless of course Monday is the first day of the week like it's name suggests.

On a lunar calendar, like they were using in biblical Israel when Jesus was there, "the first day of the week"  began at Sundown on Saturday.  So he could have been risen on Saturday and was already risen by midnight Saturday night.   He simply didn't appear to anyone until Sunday morning.

We should always keep in mind that there is a connection between the feast of Pentecost and the resurrections.  The feast of Pentecost was always on "the morrow after the sabbath", and Christ is called "the firstfruits". There was also a harvest of souls on the Day of Pentecost, which is the first day of the week (and which the world calls Sunday, but Christians call "the Lord's Day"). So in order to fulfill the prophecy and the type of Jonah's "death, burial, and resurrection", Christ was crucified on Wednesday. Thursday began that evening at sundown. That allows for three days and three nights, and He could have risen anytime after Saturday evening, probably in the very early hours of Sunday morning.

"And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence." —Colossians 1:18

Mankind's system of tracking time is centered in the Person of Jesus Christ. There is nothing any more prevalent, important and necessary in the life of every human being than time, and yet we so wonderfully see how God has incorporated the preeminence of Jesus Christ into time. Even the vilest of Godless heathens, atheists, and God-haters cannot escape the preeminence of Jesus Christ. It is commonly thought that "B.C." stands for "before Christ" and "A.D." stands for "after death."

This is only half correct. How could 1 B.C. have been "before Christ" and 1 A.D. been "after death"? B.C. does indeed mean "before Christ"; BUT, A.D. actually stands for the Latin phrase "Anno Domini" which means "In the year of our Lord." The B.C./A.D. dating system is not taught in the Bible. Though the Anno Domini dating system was devised in 525 A.D., it was not until the 8th century that the system began being adopted in Western Europe.

If Jesus was born in 5 B.C. (The Bible Almanac, Thomas Nelson Publishers, 1980) and if He died about at 33 years of age, that would fix his death around 29 A.D. The first Roman calendar was off four years. Today's calendar is a product of the Julian & Gregorian calendars. There was a 1 BC and a 1 A.D. but there was no "0" between B.C. and A.D. Counting 33 years forward from His birth in 5 B.C. would fix his death in 29 A.D. Herod the Great, who ordered the murder of all the babies less that two years old in Bethlehem, died in 4 BC. Therefore Jesus had to be born prior to his death and therefore Jesus probably was born in 5 B.C. or earlier.

The B.C./A.D. dating system was to make the birth of Jesus Christ the dividing point of world history. Clearly, we see the preeminence of the Lord Jesus Christ throughout history, for our very system of time centers upon His birth into the world. The Creator dwelt amongst humanity. John 1:10, "He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not." In this we see God's hand of providence and the preeminence of Jesus Christ in everything, including time. The birth, life, ministry, death, and resurrection of Christ are the "turning points" of world history.

"B.C." meant "before Christ"; and since His birth, we have been living "in the year of our Lord." Philippians 2:9-11 states;

V. 9, Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: V.10, That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; V. 11, And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
