If Jesus died and was buried just before sunset Friday, that will make one night and one day from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset. Then Saturday sunset to Sunday sunset would be another day and night, but Jesus rose from the dead on Saturday night, just before Sunrise Sunday Morning according to John 20:1.

"And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun." (Mark 16:2),

"Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils" (Mark 16:9),

"Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them." (Luke 24:1),

"The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre." (John 20:1),

What happened to the other one or two days and nights Jesus said He would be in the tomb????

Jesus does not lie! Nor does Jesus try to dupe or confuse His followers! Were are these missing days and nights?????

Christ said he would be three days and three nights in the grave. This should prove it.

He died on Wednesday and was put in the tomb before sunset that day.

He remained dead Wednesday night, all day Thurssay, Thursday night, all day Friday, Friday Night, and all day Saturday.

He was resurrected early morning of the first day of the week, Sunday, so looks like its "Good Wednesday from now on instead of Good Friday.

On a lunar calendar, like they were using in biblical Israel when Jesus was there, "the first day of the week"  began at Sundown on Saturday.  So he could have been risen on Saturday and was already risen by midnight Saturday night.   He simply didn't appear to anyone until Sunday morning.

Mark 16:9,  Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.
Luke 24:1, Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.

John 20:1, The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.

John 20:19, Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

Yes, but "the first day of the week when Jesus rose isn't the same time as when the women went to the tomb.  Jesus didn't have to be risen on Sunday.  He could have risen at the very end of the Sabbath.  By the time the women got to the tomb, Jesus was already risen, so there is no strong case that he was risen on what we call Sunday morning.     He could have come out of the grave at Sundown after the Sabbath was over on what WE call Saturday night, which was also the first day of the week.

He died on Wednesday and was put in the tomb before sunset that day. I'm not arguing mate? Jesus was laid in the tomb on Wednesday just before sunset. All we need do is calculate three full days and three full nights, as He said he would be in the grave and we should have the answer.

Matthew 12:40, For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

The thread is about when, what day, Jesus died, not what day he arose? He could not have died on Friday because Friday sunset to Saturday or Sunday is not three full days and three full nights.

I see.   Next time, please make an actual response instead of just quoting Scripture and expect me or someone else to just get your point without you actually making a point.   What looks clear to you, isn't always clear to others.

So, if remembrance of a day marking His death is important to you, and Wednesday makes more sense to you, then I'd say go with that. ;)

The " Good News " is He is risen!

Good Friday (Lords Crucifixion) ... or not?

Started by Donibm, 15 Apr 2014

I never said anything about any day being important? A thread was posted,

Good Friday (Lords Crucifixion) ... or not?

Started by Donibm, 15 Apr 2014

I tried to respond to it with Scripture, nothing more.
