Country music artist, professing christian, even has several songs glorifying God-westboros new target. Guess they ran out of funerals to protest, Westboro decided to protest a Brad Paisley concert. His reply? He went out and took a selfie in front of the protestors and posted it on twitter, and even took a short video-where several of the protestors were excited to be in. (probably didnt realize who he was)

the article author, says this at the end: The Westboro Baptist Church is a sad group of people who haven’t earned the right to call themselves a church. But we can react to them two ways: we can be as nasty to them as they are to us, or we can show them how true Christians behave.

This is very true. Read the rest of the article here

I work for the state of Vermont and had an office with a window which faced the lawn in front of the state capital building.  Several years ago, the Westboro group came to protest. The signs they carried were absolutely vile. They were shouting hateful things. Another group, very very liberal, showed up to protest the protest. It included a puppet troup which carries puppets which are possibly 20 feet tall. My fellow workers gathered at the window to watch, most are not Christian believers. We watched as the so-called Christian group acted worse and shouted disgusting things, while the hyper-liberals were actually acting much better. With some questions concerning the Westboro group, I was in the position to explain what real Christianity was and why real Christians do not act that way. That day, it was Satans group vs. Satans group, acting out a scene which made Christians look hate filled, stupid, red-faced angry, etc.

As the Westboro group finished their protest and was leaving, the liberal group which was significantly larger, marched behind them with these giant puppets, singing the first verse of the'The battle hymn of the republic'. It looked like they were pushing the Westboro group out of town. Quite a show, and very difficult to explain to non-believers.

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord; He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored; He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword: His truth is marching on. (Chorus) Glory glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! His truth is marching on.

I think at one point the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" was proposed as our National Anthem. . .but, we decided to use an Irish bar song instead.

The problem with the WBC is that their name throws people off. Assigning the word "Church" to them is a bit of a misnomer. Instead, they should be named the Westboro Baptist Collection of Family Lawyers Searching For An Easy Payday.

Their motive is simple: cause enough strife in small towns until the inevitable slap comes toward one of their faces, and then they sue the town for failing to "protect" them.

The way to deal with them is to ignore them and let them do their thing until they pack up and leave. Their whole motive is to incite someone to "assault" them so they can turn around and sue the community. Don't give them the satisfaction :)

I don't think anyone takes the message of this group serious.  Nearly every Christian group out there has come against them, both liberal and conservative.  They target people that in many cases have done absolutely nothing wrong.  Many are good Christians.  I don't agree with anything about the way they behave, but what really makes no sense is that they don't target the people they believe are the cause of judgment on America.  They don't reserve their hate filled speech for homosexuals, pornographers and abortionists.  They attack the military for supposedly suffering casualties as part of judgment on this nation.  Even if we are under judgment, why go after people that did nothing wrong, even by their own teachings?  It is one of the most pathetic groups I have ever seen.  They don't represent God.  They don't represent Christianity.  They come across to me as people seeking fame.  I think the leaders like the attention, and they have brain washed the congregation, the same way Muslim leaders brainwash people into hating Christians and Jews.  Then the hate filled people go about on a path of destruction.  What concerns me about this group is not the silly protests and hateful rants.  What I am concerned about is how far they will go for publicity in the future.  As they become more and more irrelevant, and denounced by nearly everyone, will they become violent as many extreme cult groups eventually do?  You can't deny them their freedom of speech and freedom of religion, but I wouldn't turn my back on them.

well I can tell you I used to belong to a site that was run mostly by European atheists and they believe all Christians are like WBC. The amount of damage control I used to have to do just to try and get a balanced conversation was ridiculous, both from the junk WBC did, and the fact that these "intelligent" people couldn't see that not every Christian is like a person who "claims" to be one.

My husband and I watched the now head of that (church)  one time on Fox news.  Hannity and Combs. I was very proud of Mr. Combs even though we disagree about everything else.  He stood up against this woman when she started yelling about the men and women in our military calling them all kinds of names.  He almost lost and It and I could see he was doing everything  he could not to slap her out of her chair.  My husband looked at me and simply said " I see something so evil in her it makes my skin crawl."  I see nothing but evil and I see no repentance on their part ever.  However I am  not their judge.  I just know a hardened heart when I see it.  Brad Parlely is a born again believer and not about to back down from his faith.

Those people give Christians a horrible name.  Sometimes I think they are athiests who do it for that purpose alone.  If you know of any cases of them actually suing a community for not protecting them, please post it.  The large true christian groups should be making sure that angle is presented loud and clear on a national level so people know EXACTLY what the WBC is all about.

Much Love

They are truly evil, maybe they are a branch off from the "church" of satan?  They are very vile, every time they pop up on the news, I take that opportunity to explain to my unbelieving husband that true follower's of Jesus do not believe what they are spewing.
