 "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God".

". . . . . righteousness and peace have kissed each other."

Romans 5:1-2 (KJV

Psalm 85:10 (KJV)

Not exactly sure what your question is here?

Hi Bethany!! I edited the OP.

May I ask what part in your walk with the Lord do you believe you play? David prayed this way:

"The LORD shall judge the people: judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness,

and according to mine integrity that is in me." and he goes on to say: " I will praise the LORD according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the LORD most high." Psalm 7:8,17 (KJV)

I'm not sure the only question posed really follows the topic but a few ideas from a few close followers of Jesus may be relevant here.

For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God.

- Romans 10:3

Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;

-Paul to the Church at Philippi 3:8-9

For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us,leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps:

"Who committed no sin, nor was deceit found in His mouth"; who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously; who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.

1Peter 2:21-24

I therefore have no righteousness of my own but I do have a righteousness through Christ who paid my debt in full, sits at the right hand of the Father and has His home in my heart through His Holy Spirit who unites us in love and purpose.

In Christ, Pat

So what about David? What do we do with him, "a man after God's own heart"?

Hi Pat!!

So what about David? What do we do with him, "a man after God's own heart"?

IMO, we need to remember what David spoke:

1)  Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.

2)  Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.

Psalms 32:1-2

David spoke these words shortly after committing adultery and than murder.  He even confessed to God his sins, Psalms 32:5.  All this happened after David was called a man after God's own heart, I Samuel 13:14.   All one has to do is check thru David's life and you can easily see places he missed up and sinned.  But if you want to model yourself after a man of great faith, you would be hard press to find a man more faithful to God, than David.

I am not interested in something else David may have said. I want you to address those two verses I posted__ face value.

Here's another like it:

"Therefore the LORD hath recompensed me according to my righteousness; according to my cleanness in his eye sight." 2 Samuel 22:25 (KJV)

"Jesus *said to them, "It is not those who are healthy who need a physician,

but those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."

To which Paul could state: "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God". Reiterating the words of David[?]: ". . . . . righteousness and peace have kissed each other." ___ by the shed Blood of the Lamb.

Hi Pat!!

So what about David? What do we do with him, "a man after God's own heart"?

Yes, I believe David was a man that pursued after the heart of God. So he was after God's own heart and Christ's promised righteousness.

Here's the pursuit in his own words:

Psa 5:8

Lead me, O LORD, in Your righteousness because of my enemies;

Make Your way straight before my face.

Psa 7:17

I will praise the LORD according to His righteousness,

And will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.

Psa 23:3

He restores my soul;

He leads me in the paths of righteousness

For His name’s sake.

Psa 24:5

He shall receive blessing from the LORD,

And righteousness from the God of his salvation.

Psa 31:1

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

In You, O LORD, I put my trust;

Let me never be ashamed;

Deliver me in Your righteousness.

Psa 34:15

The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous,

And His ears are open to their cry.

Psa 34:17

The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears,

And delivers them out of all their troubles.

Psa 34:19

Many are the afflictions of the righteous,

But the LORD delivers him out of them all.

Psa 35:28

And my tongue shall speak of Your righteousness

And of Your praise all the day long.

Psa 36:6

Your righteousness is like the great mountains;

Your judgments are a great deep;

O LORD, You preserve man and beast.

Psa 36:10 Oh, continue Your lovingkindness to those who know You,

And Your righteousness to the upright in heart.

Psa 37:6 He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light,

And your justice as the noonday.

Psa 40:10 I have not hidden Your righteousness within my heart;

I have declared Your faithfulness and Your salvation;

I have not concealed Your lovingkindness and Your truth

From the great assembly.

Psa 45:4

And in Your majesty ride prosperously because of truth, humility, and righteousness;

And Your right hand shall teach You awesome things

Psa 71:2 Deliver me in Your righteousness, and cause me to escape;

Incline Your ear to me, and save me.

Psa 71:15 My mouth shall tell of Your righteousness

And Your salvation all the day,

For I do not know their limits.

Psa 71:16

I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD;

I will make mention of Your righteousness, of Yours only.

Psa 71:19

Also Your righteousness, O God, is very high,

You who have done great things;

O God, who is like You?

Psa 71:24

My tongue also shall talk of Your righteousness all the day long;

For they are confounded,

For they are brought to shame

Who seek my hurt.

Psa 85:10

Mercy and truth have met together;

Righteousness and peace have kissed.

Psa 85:11

Truth shall spring out of the earth,

And righteousness shall look down from heaven.

Psa 85:13

Righteousness will go before Him,

And shall make His footsteps our pathway.

There's a lot more but it still all points to Christ his righteousness.

Hope that helps.

In Christ, Pat

Nope. Sorry. Lets be honest or nothing is achieved: It points to both the Psalmist' and the Lord's righteousness.

Remember, this is the OT __ indwelling here.

I have a plethora of more examples that speak the same message.
