We've all seen the adult-child who spends his or her entire life with their parents, never seems to grow up, can't feed, wash or dress themselves, and suffer from extreme mental retardation. They have a certain loving and trusting nature. I believe that they have the Holy Spirit. They can't read the Bible but they've always known God. We have a lot to learn from them. A newborn baby that dies goes to heaven. There is evidence for this ib the following 2 Samuel 12:21-23 KJV Then said his servants unto him, What thing is this that thou hast done? thou didst fast and weep for the child, while it was alive; but when the child was dead, thou didst rise and eat bread. And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell whether God will be gracious to me, that the child may live? But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me. This shows that David had an understanding that the child was in heaven and that he would one day be with him. This is evidence for the age of accountability. Just like a child, I believe that many mentally handicapped people also fit into this category since so many have the mind of a child.
