It's different from Ezekiel 38 and you may be confusing it with that war. There is a thread on whether Armageddon is the same war as the Ezekiel war. I believe enough evidence has been put forward on that thread to indicate they are the same war. But even the Joel war is between two sinful armies , the northern army, and Israel. Only when Israel repents does God restore their full blessing. And this Joel war is definitely at the timing of Armageddon. Again I would clarify concerning `the rulers of the Gentiles.` This means the governments that rule their countries or power blocs. Their specific head is just a representative of that Government. We know that individuals will be judged at the Great White Throne, but here we are talking about a World System that will be judged. We all realise the influences that effect those running the Governments yet there are laws & systems of operating as a society that are in place that we all have to obey. If we disobey the road rules, or cheat on our taxes or steal or murder etc we go before the law courts & not in front of Mr Rockerfeller etc. So these are the authorities that God has put in place. How the Gentiles rule with that authority is what will be judged. Now my question was - `Who are these great powers in positions of authority controlling our world today?` Do you notice that most people when discussing this find it hard to stay in the NOW & move to opinions & speculations of the future. That will come as a matter of course but we have not yet identified the main governments that are working together to form a Global Government. The closest I saw from reading the comments was Arogosy`s `Western Bankers are controlling the world.` & ` Russian/Chinese/Islamic co-operation we do have a potential....` So can I again ask you to look at the Governments of the world today, right NOW & say who are forming a Global Government? I said western bankers, and yet the Rothschilds have also been mentioned (the most powerful western banking family) and also the Bilderbergers have also been mentioned , and so there has been some consensus between the various participants in this thread, defining western capitalists as the driving force behind current world politics. I'm editing my post in order to answer your question from a "governments" point of view. I believe its the EU, USA, and Turkey currently pulling the strings in world politics. Russia, China, and Shi-ite Islam are playing catch-up but are still a long way from matching the power and influence of the NATO alliance which includes Turkey. Turkish politics and economics are also tied in with the west so its possible to see Islamic Turkey as well entrenched in this Western dominance. However I was particularly looking for (& asking for) the world`s political & economic powers. Then you go on to give your answer, which I do appreciate as that means you are looking at the current world situation & the Governments that are mainly controlling it. So as per the general consensus in this thread, Western Bankers are controlling the world. I believe Islam and Russia and China will appear to toe the line and will give the west a "Messiah" and an enlarged Israel and in this way they will create world peace and pacify the west into passivity. When the west is at peace and unsuspecting, with their antichrist ruling the world, suddenly Russia, China and Islam will attack the west at Armageddon. Layers upon layers of deception. Satan's final attempt to destroy the Jews after their 3.5 years of protection will fail, because they will repent and Jesus himself will intervene on behalf of Israel. Good that you see that, because Ezek.38 concerning Israel there is not only pointing to the nation state of Israel in the Middle East, but also to God's Israel in the West. If you'll recall Quigley's work, western socialists are co-joined with eastern socialism (Russia and Red China). Quigley said they both agree to operate together towards the same goals of one-world socialism, western diplomats working with Communism. Fabian socialism in the west wants the same world government that the Communist International wants. But only one of them will be triumphant in controlling it all. For which timing? For the great tribulation timing? It will be the same ones today that are driving both sides I mentioned in my previous post, i.e., the secret societies of the "synagogue of Satan". Like I said before, if we only focus on outward governments that won't actually point to the real movers. During the tribulation all governments will be under control of the Antichrist and the "synagogue of Satan" (i.e., his servants here on earth in all nations).
