We need to follow Christ and we are not to follow the world. By doing so we forfeit our crowns we may gain while doing Christs work.

Thank you lovelylife22 for your topic, "Doing work for Christ".

Allow me to point out that it is only Christ in you who does the work, as can be seen from the following verses.

Jhn 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.

Jhn 15:5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

Welcome, and bless you.

Edwin.

Further to the above, these additional verses may also be of help.

Jhn 14:15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments.
Jhn 14:16 "And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—
Jhn 14:17 "the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

Jhn 16:13 "However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
Jhn 16:14 "He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.
Jhn 16:15 "All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.
Jhn 16:16 "A little while, and you will not see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me, because I go to the Father."

Rom 8:12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh.
Rom 8:13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
Rom 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
Rom 8:15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father."
Rom 8:16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,
Rom 8:17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
Rom 8:18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

Bless you.

Edwin.

I'm sorry. I don't understand what you are saying?  What does it mean to follow the world?

possessing a disciple's attitude.. wont be easy though:)..

but HIS word says in

Hebrews 12:2

We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God's throne.

To follow the world would be following it's sinful and lustful desires, the opposite of following Christ.
