Gen 4:1 Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, saying, "I have gotten a man with the help of the LORD." Gen 4:2 And again, she bore his brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, and Cain a worker of the ground. Gen 4:16 Then Cain went away from the presence of the LORD and settled in the land of Nod, [fn] east of Eden. Gen 4:17 Cain knew his wife, and she conceived and bore Enoch. When he built a city, he called the name of the city after the name of his son, Enoch. 4:16) Nod means wandering Thank you. Edwin. Guest Teditis
I don't think that the Bible gives us enough information to really know where she came from. But most tend to theorize that he married one of his sisters.

Well I think we are making some assumptions about story on the basis of missing information. It is likely that Adam and Eve had many, many more children who also had children and remember that people back then lived for hundreds of years and so the multiplication of the human population would have been exponential and so it is conceivable that Cain married a distant relative. I don't know when Cain killed Able, but from the text of Genesis it seems that it would have been before that time. That would be a lot of time to have girls to make wives for Cain and Seth himself. It's an interesting endevour to plot out on a graph the births and deaths of those of Jesus' blood lines to see just how many generations were alive at the same time. Either way, logically - somebody has to marry a sister along the way. There's no other way around this.

Also there is no reason to believe Genesis 4 preceded Genesis 5 in a literal bearing of children in that lineal record. Cain and Abel then sons and daughters after... the account would look like some legal document today defining the meaning of "is" if all details had to be given at each and every juncture. Case in point, if every time the Trinity had to be mentioned whenever God was mentioned, then Trinitarians have real problems! Certain liberties of the methods used for telling the story must be granted or indeed we are all doomed to telling and reading legal documents on everything. Oy gevaldt!
