Thank you 19Duggarfan for the scripture verses you quoted.

Here are two more.

Col 1:19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell,

Col 2:9 For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily,

Therefore, It was not only Jesus who suffered the excruciating agony of death by crucifixion, but all three persons of the Trinity.

Bless you.

Edwin.

shiloh357, you say.

"He did not empty Himself of His deity".

"the name that is above every name", can only apply to God who is of course divine.

Now, how is it possible to give someone what they already have?

Every blessing.

Edwin.

It needs to be understood that Jesus, when He took on flesh, He humbled Himself and so the Father highly exalted Him.  It is not that the Father gave to Jesus something He didn't already have, but that He rewarded Jesus' voluntary humiliation by exalting Jesus (who is still 100% human and 100% God) to the highest place in the universe and bestowed the highest honors upon Him.

The word "Name" in ancient near eastern thought and culture refers to honor and speaks to a person's character.   Jesus was honored and exalted for who He is, "YHVH" and Almighty God.

No, that is not correct.   Jesus did not die in His deity.  The three persons of the trinity did not suffer death or agony by crucifixion.  Jesus suffered and bore our sins in His flesh, not in His deity.

As The Son Of Man

I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed. Daniel 7:13-14

As Our Kinsmen-Redeemer

Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: Galatians 3:13

Because He Adores

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Us

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2
