If we accept that which I do then that really puts a hole in abortion as it should.  God says He knows us from before the womb, that answers the question for me.  I wonder how many Billy Grahams we have killed in this country by abortion?

You know I first came to this topic because of the Noah Shem thing. I was thinking of the begat thing and whether it could account for the 2 years.

The popular view seems to be that Shem was the second child and born in Noah's 502nd year so that Arphaxad could be born in Noah's 602nd, Shem's 100th but still in the 2nd year of the deluge.

I got to thinking if begat meant conceived so it could add years to span the gap, eg:

Noah 500th - begets 3 sons

Noah 501st - 3 sons born

If their 1st year then begins with the next new year...

Noah 502nd = Shem 1st

Noah 602nd = Shem 101st

So, it still doesn't work.

Therefore, I must continue to agree with the view of Shem being begat later regardless of the interpretation of begat [iuld].
