It hurts the cat but hurts you more. The wall clawing would have been an automatic "out" if it was me. I have had 2 cats declawed but only the front not the back. Then he got carpet scraps and covered it all, leaving a slot at the top loose for stuffing in more catnip. All our cats loved it. We also attached toys from strings at the top for them to bat at. But their favorite play time was tying a catnip mouse to a fishing line on a fly rod and casting it down the hallway. Our son also had his cats declawed in front, but it was when they were younger when they were spayed/neutered.. Two eventually moved outside and did fine. He built a cat house for the last one that sits on their deck. It has two chambers, one for food and water and an inner one with a box for a bed and a lightbulb for warmth. I'll simply agree with everyone else. A scratching post, and toys, goes a long way in solving the issue of cats scratching where they aren't supposed to. Give them a place of their own to 'knit' on. We don't have a attic. So my husband thinks it's the out door cat,and since we seen her go up there, he thinks it's her. For two yrs I been feeding her. Now he won't let me feed her anymore cause he afraid she will claw up the roof and damage it. I been sneaking her some food. I hate sneaking like that, it's wrong, but to stop feeding her after two yrs is wrong to. I don't know what to do. Everything is his way or move out. It's not fair, but my life never was fair.
