Hiya dudes and dudesses,

Do you prefer the older hymns, or the more modern music in Church?

As for me, I like the older stuff better.

warm regards

Budman,

Interesting question. Being one of today's adolescence...honestly a good mix of both the old and the new is a preference.

For time best goes on keeping the oldies but going on with some of the new.

With Love In Christ,

Danielle Burreson

I like both the old hyms and the new moderns worship songs.

We had this discussion in a church meeting new verses old songs.

I thank the praise band for the reason they gave as to why they choose not to do the old hyms. The reason they gave is harder to translate the hymnal music into all the instrumental pieces. When they said that it made more sense. They even said they like the older hyms as well they just can't figure out out how to translate the music into there instruments. But they do there best to incorporate an equal amount of both. If the pastor has a theme they usually try to pick out the songs that best reflect the message that will be given which in some cases the new songs do a little more of in my opinion.

Personally I like them both and I think they would all be improved if sung Accapellea, but that is a topic for another thread.

Being an adolescent myself I like the modern music. I like to enjoy myself and feel like dancing when I praise the Lord. I can't seem to do that with the old hymns. To anyone who's looking for some good modern Christian music to listen to, I recommend anything by Rebecca St. James.

Being an older adult, I was raised on traditional. My favorite is still "Southern Gospel", BUT, I have learned to love the Praise and Worship! We sing that at church, and I tend to listen to more of that at home, and radio, etc.

I love both. However I love to listen to praise and worship music. When I was battling depression it was praise and worship music that began me on my way to a healing from that depression. However I have found out that alot of times churches will skip verses in the old hymns leaving out the best part of the songs! The only kind I can't get into is the heavy metal christian music. Sorry

I like ol and new.

I don't like it though when you go to church and they play every old hymn like a funeral march... it's annoying, tiring, and downright depressing.

I will admit that in the mid to late 80's I was a huge Stryper fan.

Anyone remember those guys?

warm regards

I appreciate anything that is authentically worship first.

And yes, I remember Stryper. I was not a believer back then and I thought they were funny in the black and yellow "strypes"

But I thought all those hair-farmer bands were ridiculous.
