welcome to worthy :)

Personally I was immersed for baptism.  The women speaking in the congregation was something specific Paul addressed in a certain church because they were shouting and disrupting.  I wouldn't wash anyone's feet personally, although I know it was something Jesus did Himself.  However, I have a thing about feet, and I am not touching them lol.  I have no idea about physical healing with oil or otherwise, God bless you.

1.It is not a salvation issue. So either one are ok.Just a matter of preference

2.No women do not have to be quiet in the congregation.

1. Baptism

For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body--whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free--

and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. 1 Corinthians 12:13 (New International Version)

And Men

John answered their questions by saying, "I baptize you with water; but someone is coming soon who is greater than I am

--so much greater that I'm not even worthy to be his slave and untie the straps of his sandals.

He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit

and with fire. Luke 3:16 (New Living Translation)

And Jesus

There he found some disciples. And he said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?”

And they said, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”

And he said, “Into what then were you baptized?”

They said, “Into John’s baptism.”

And Paul said, “John baptized with the baptism of repentance,

telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is, Jesus.”

On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

And when Paul had laid his hands on them,

the Holy Spirit came on them,

and they began speaking in tongues and prophesying. Acts 19:1-6 (English Standard Version)

And Sprinkles

Moses then took the blood, sprinkled it on the people and said, “This is the blood of the covenant that the Lord has made with you in accordance with all these words.” Exodus 24:8 (New International Version)

and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the first-born out of the dead,

and the ruler of the kings of the earth; to him who did love us,

and did bathe us from our sins

in his blood, Revelation 1:5 (Young's Literal Translation)

~

2. Daughters

‘In the last days,’ God says,

‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people.

Your sons and daughters will prophesy.

Your young men will see visions,

and your old men will dream dreams.

In those days

I will pour out my Spirit even on my servants

—men and women alike—

and they will

prophesy. Acts 2:17-18 (New Living Translation)

~

3. Feet

Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going back to God,  rose from supper. He laid aside his outer garments, and taking a towel, tied it around his waist.  Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him.

He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, do you wash my feet?” Jesus answered him, “What I am doing you do not understand now, but afterward you will understand.” Peter said to him, “You shall never wash my feet.” Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no share with me.” John 13:3-8 (English Standard Version)

When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them, “Do you understand what I have done to you? You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.

For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you.

Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master,

nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. John 13:12-16 (English Standard Version)

~

4. Healing

Heal me, LORD, and I will be healed;

save me and I will be saved,

for you are the one

I praise. Jeremiah 17:14 (New International Version)

Oil

And if any of you is in suffering, let him pray, and if rejoicing, let him sing songs.

And if one is ill, let him call The Elders of the church,

and let them pray over him

and anoint him with oil

in the name of

Our Lord.

And the prayer of faith heals the one who is ill and Our Lord raises him up,

and if sins were done by him, they are forgiven him. James 5:13-15 (Aramaic Bible in Plain English)

And The Healing Of Jesus

From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation;

that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them,

and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.

Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us.

We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin,

so that in him we might become

the righteousness

of God. 2 Corinthians 5:16-21 (English Standard Version)

May The Reading Of His Word

And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved. Psalms 119:47

Both Heal You And Fill Your Hearts With His Joy

My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved;

and I will meditate in thy statutes. Psalms 119:48

Love, Your Brother Joe

Hi Anita,

1. BAPTISM, by sprinkling or by immersion?

The original was most likely immersion – representing the death and burial of the old person (you go into the water as one person), then the rising of a new person. However, the Christian covenant is a covenant of grace – not law. We don’t follow a list of rules or set of instructions – but the indwelling Holy Spirit. The meaning of baptism is mostly lost to western society. But it’s the meaning which is most important, not the form of the ritual.

2. Do women have to keep quiet in the congregation?

Everyone should respect the minister and the moving of the Holy Spirit during the service. As I understand the context of the relevant verses, the women (who previously had little exposure to religious education) appeared to be asking their husbands questions and starting conversations during the teaching. Paul told them to hold their questions till a more appropriate time.

3. Do we have to wash each other's feet?

We don’t “have to” do anything. We are under grace, not law. Though we are encouraged to follow the example of our Lord; the sacrificial servant. Scripture several times encourages us to serve and submit to each other.

Mark 9:35

35 And He sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, “If anyone desires to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all.”

4. The ministry of physical healing, only with OIL?

No – the New Covenant is not about rules and formulas. It’s about reconciliation to God through the grace of the cross. If we could do it ourselves, we wouldn’t have needed a Saviour. [Note that there is no rule against oil either – we are to be led by the Spirit]. Supernatural power is accessed through faith, not formulas. Oil might be a point of faith, but God is not so restricted. Jesus healed a blind man by spitting in the dirt and rubbing it into the blind man’s eye.

Hello to you all.

The following are some of the questions I have to answer in my next Bible Study class.

I want to know what you think.

1. BAPTISM, by sprinkling or by immersion? Immersion (Mk 1:9-11)

2. Do women have to keep quiet in the congregation?  Yes (1 Cor 14:34,35)

3. Do we have to wash each other's feet? Generally symbolic (Acts 2:41-47)

4. The ministry of physical healing, only with OIL? Elders, prayer, oil, faith, confession of faults (Jas 5:14-16). Not just "physical" either.
