I guess in can be both. To be fair though, pageant women are not specializing in intellectual prowess or political astuteness. They are under pressure to provide what sounds like well thought out answers to questions they may have never considered. It is hard to not babble under those conditions. I am practiced at potification, but I am glad I do not have to see what I would look like and sound like, in a live, video interview when asked a question on a topic I know little about. If these women were applying for a scholarship in Mathematics at M.I.T., I would have higher expectations. We have politicians who do no better, when they know ahead of time, what they will be speaking on. The reason we have them, is that we have people electing them, who know even less. Who can forget Miss South Carolina: But, the world is full of them, this could be the thread that never ends if we kept going.
