Can a married man Lust after his own wife?

They were discussing your thread in chat, and it seems like everyone agrees that sexual attraction to your wife is not a sin, if that is the way you meant it.  Idolatrous lust, where you put your wife ahead of God would be, but it didn't come across to me like that is what you were speaking of.

So far, I am led to two passages ( apart from the one you quoted ) ;

"For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would."

-Gal 5:17

This would lead me to believe that "lust" at least in this usage of the word, is not a sin depending on the source.

And;

"Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others."

-Eph 2:3

So, my conclusion ( please anyone correct me if I am mistaken ), is that a lust in the flesh is not profitable, but a lust in the Spirit is.

As I see it no, because in I Thessalonians 4:3-5 it speaks of fornication (v. 3) than Paul tells us in v. 4, for one to possess his vessels in sanctification and honor to which the writer of Hebrews and even Paul address further in the following passages:

Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.   Hebrews 13:4

Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every women have her own husband.   I Corinthians 7:2

So that we are told that marriage is honorable in all, and the bed is pure by the writer of Hebrews; while Paul tells us to avoid fornication let the man have his own wife, and woman her own husband.

I don't think he was talking about fornication, can fornication be committed with your own wife..?

Fornication is a sexual act not between husband and wife so no that is not biblical and is a sin.

I was asked the question, and i could not give an answer...

I'll appreciate your opinions...

Can a married man lust after his own wife? - 1 Thessalonians 4: 1-5

thank you in advance :)

I would have to say that a husband can have un-natural sinful desires (lusts) towards his wife as well as natural desires.  If those unnatural sinful desires are carried out by the husband then he could physically hurt and become abusive to his wife which is not the will of God.  While there may be no sex outside of the marriage bed such as fornication or adultery that was not the question that was asked as of course sex outside of marriage is a sin flat out.  The question was "Can a married man lust after his own wife?

A married man can have a natural desire in which he desires to be with his wife in a sexual way and this is not a sin as his wife would be the love of his life and he desires no other woman but his wife this is not a sinful desire or lust but a rightful desire to be close with his wife.

But if the husbands desires sinful and hurtful lustful things from his wife which are not natural and makes his wife do those things then it can become abusive towards his wife such as making her do things by force that are un-natural in which the homosexual crowd does in secret or bringing another person into the marriage bed.

I know that there are sinful desires from Satan that all men and women battle in temptation and we must guard the marriage bed and not corrupt our minds with sinful things and thoughts that are not from God.

What do you mean lust in the spirit?

In other words, to lust " after the things of the Spirit ". Which is taking the same word, but applying it in opposition to lusting " after things of the flesh " .
